DAD WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
Big. Tough. Capable. Versatile. The Diesel is all of these things and more, available to you at the flick of a wrist. With true one-handed deployment, this tool is the ultimate in efficiency. The industrial strength components are larger and stronger, for the toughest of jobs.
DAD WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
This is one of the biggest, toughest multi-tools that also features the ease and convenience of wrist-flick deployment. That's the story behind the Diesel Multi-Plier.
Were talking about an industrial-strength tool here. The kind that pulls no punches and shrinks for no task...regardless of how tough it might be. The individual stainless steel tools are bigger than average, and more rugged than normal. And each one locks into place for maximum safety and security with the Saf.T.Plus system.
Maybe you could get by with a lesser tool. But why run the risk of all the cussing and fuming when you can own the multi-tool that rules the road? Diesel. The one tool you need when you can only carry one tool.
Had my Diesel for 11+ years and used it in the field constantly. Knife finally snapped in half but all other part remained intact and usable. Retired it and bought a smaller version for work on the ranch and the pliers jaw snapped off cutting bailing wire. Really miss the diesel and will be investing in another soon
Great tool for everyone. Highly recommended to service members who are in a maintenance field. I’m a M1 Abrams Tank mechanic and having the easy open with the flick of my wrist makes this tool very handy. I find myself in a lot of situations trying to hold for example a hydraulic line in place but need my gerber but only have one hand, and this tool always comes through. My Gerber is ALWAYS attached to my hip.
Great feel and built really well. Love the options on the tool.
Not happy with the Black hands after handling this unit. Residue gets all over my hands. Not ideal for my engineers when they are fixing something and have to shake hands with clients after items are fixed.
I got this knife in '08 or '09 and I have beat the crud out of it. It has survived many hard hits, falls, and more abuse than a knife should be able to take. It has been submerged in water (bilge water) for extensive periods of life and has not even started to corrode. The sheath hasn't even started to show how much abuse this knife has been put up to. The blade has stayed strong and the tools are all nicely fitting. My only complaint is that there is a lot of movement in the pliers from side to side when the knife is open and closed. While this knife has liver a terrible life I would like to see a better sliding assembly to take that wiggle out of the pliers. I absolutely love this knife and I would not hesitate for a second to buy this knife again. I don't think any letherman would survive what this knife has been put through
Had this Diesel of mine way back 2009 and it still works well. I went as far as Africa with this amongst my EDC, it had endured rain and even sea water on all my field work. To this day, the compact scissors can still cut through plastic bottles, the semi serrated blade has kept it's edge and the screw drivers proved to be very efficient. When this Diesel retires, I'm still getting another one - this time I wanna try the BLACK finish.
Given to me as a gift by my brother , who is a SSG . Best tool I have, I've helped my battles a lot with it.
I'm pretty rough on tools. So rough that I recently broke the tip off the knife, but it's a good blade so I'm living with it. Love the quality of the tools (save for the scissors) and one-handed opening. Working at heights I also appreciate the safety cord loop. Good tool that's *almost* theatre-proof. I'd recommend it.
This was one of my favorite pieces of EDC gear when I work on the ranch. The tools locking out makes me feel secure when I am using them in tough situations, and the finish stays intact for the most part, even under hard use.
I say that it "was" one of my favorites, because the sheath tore off of my belt while I was tractoring, and now I cannot find a replacement. There is not even a "contact us" or customer support link on this site, so my Gerber Diesel is just an ornament on my nightstand now.
Got this tool in the mail off of amazon about a month ago. Love it! I haven't had much time to test the pliers, but all of the other tools on it are great and perform well. I would definitely recommend this tool. Way to go Gerber!
Bought mine when I got to my first duty station. Had a little play in the pliers, but after 5 years of use it was still going strong enough that someone else decided they needed it more than I did.
Diesel multi-plier is the best tool ever in my a arsenal of tools. The students think it's a part of me. I have it everyday and I use it.
Very useful, but would be better if it had a belt clip built on instead on the sheath. The pliers are a lot more wobbly than other tools I have had. When I first got this one the black finish started coming off easily and made my hands look like I was handling charcoal. I had to wipe it down a few times with a damp clothe for it to stop. The finish stayed on and looks perfect.
This tool is so useful and handy to have. It has been a great investment and partner - a perfect match in the tool world..
This is not the first Gerber mutil-tool I have had however its been the most loyal one as it has stayed with me for several years; the others have "walked" away. Maybe there's a reason that been so reliable they are a temptation.
Do not regret buying it.
This is a decent multi-tool. It gets the job done but it would be much better if it were spring loaded. Also the pliers are a little "wobbly".
So many uses for this tool. Not always the uses Gerber intended, but it gets the job done. I carry 50% less tools with me because of the Diesel. Rock solid, and indispensable.
going on 10 yrs with mine still works like new a beautiful all around multi tool use it every day for something only problem the sheath wears out but contacted gerber and they sent me another No Charge
I have had a few of these little jewels. If I didn't lose them I would still have my first. The only problem I have had is breaking the Philips bit on rusty screws. GREAT TOOLS!
I've been using a Gerber multitool for around 15 years and let me tell you, I do not spare it. I use it many times every day for jobs which you would think would require a much bigger tool. It is Very Tough and very useful. I have broken the pliers twice, once trying to open a corroded 90mm camlock and once trying to tear 30mm steel strapping around a bundle of poles, both jobs which I think you will agree are a bit outside the scope of a pair of pocket pliers but which I do think they would have been able to do if I had been a little bit more careful. Gerber repaired them for me, no problems at all.
Anyway, a brilliantly designed finest quality product.
it's my first gerber tool. in general terms is good, seems to be very well built, so I think that is a drawback is the way to make the implements ... the openness of the tools is uncomfortable. in particular had a problem with scissors. on first use, the spring deflection and scissors are not working properly. I hope to have better luck next time, for now my old leatherman is better. regards
SN Johnson: I use this tool everyday at work and it has never let me down. A bit flimsy in the pliers but it never has casued a real issue for me great all around tool.
Best multi tool on market have used for 20 years broken under normal wear ten years ago sent in sent me brand new one no question
I've lived with a Gerber multi-plier on my belt for 20 years. I've made one warranty claim in those 20 years and , even though the failed part was due to operator error, Gerber fixed my tool without hesitation. Always reliable, always helpful .
ive gerber for last 20 years I would not take for them I just lost my last pair trring to find me somewhere close to get me some more looks like a 140 mile trip 5 stars for me better than everybody elses
love it... use it daily and will always have it on me.. no problems and although its a little loose with the pliers it gets the job done. buy it. use it. love it.
Very disappointed. I bought this to replace a broke Leatherman. Saw this at our FOB. Way too much play in the pliers, feels flimsy, loose and unable to hold a grip. knife, not sharp as I would like, tools not long enough. Spend the money and get yourself a S.O.G.
Just got it in the mail and I'm a little disappointed. The pliers are skinny and have a lot of wiggle room, it doesn't feel solid, just loose. The knife and the saw are pretty nice, the other tools are ok I guess.
My favorite multi tool...but why there isnt a lanyard loop is a complete mystery to me...add the lanyard loop!
Givent o me as a gift and i find this to be a very useful tool and would not be caught dead without it. one handed operation is very nice to have at my disposal and cannot concieve of using a traditional multitool again.
This is my favorite of all the Gerber tools, although the scissors are not as nice as the set on my Gerber 600 Pro scout which is my next favorite, but while the pliers are noticeably more beefy on the Diesel I can't help but feel it could be more solid and resist the overlap twist at the point of the pliers. Still, I carry this tool daily and it never fails me.
Awesome multi-tool. Had mine for a few years. Used in Iraq and now in Afghanistan. Only issue I am now having is the pliers are a little loose when extended and wiggle back and forth. Solid product.
I've owned Gerber equipments for three decades and they've served me faithfully. My husband has 35 years of Military under his belt also and Gerber has been a household name following us everywhere from war time to the bush passing by survival and rescuing stranger to giving a helping hand and every day chores.
Thank you Gerber for making this world a safe place by helping us fulfill our duties wich do not stop the day we retired but keep on going till the day we die...
God bless you, Lyne and Mario from Canada
The only problem that I have with this tool is that I have lost it too many times (3). But great tool to have while setting up comms gear and general military use.
Love this tool. One handed operation is a feature that I could not live without, especially when the tool is required and one hand is holding onto scaffolding high above a stage.
Many huge improvements over older models.
Now if I could just stop misplacing them...!
