As a man who once climbed inside the carcass of a camel to escape the desert sun, Bear Grylls knows a few things about protection from the elements. Fortunately, Gerber knows a few things about making products for the outdoors as well. The Survival Poncho combines the best of both worlds to create a poncho that’s a sight lighter and more stowable than a camel. More importantly, unlike traditional emergency ponchos, it’s built to last, so it can stand up to multiple uses.

The Bear Grylls Survival Poncho is fully hooded and made of light-yet-tough, waterproof, windproof polyethylene, so you can keep moving when the skies open up and the wind starts to blow. When the weather clears again, you can tuck it into its own resealable stow bag and return it to your pack where it will go unnoticed until you need it again.

Its one-size-fits-all, knee-length construction means it can easily slip over the head of anyone in your party, over your pack to keep your food and clothing out of the weather, or over branches or saplings to create a quick bivouac.

Most of the time in the outdoors you want to blend into your environment. But when you need to be found, this poncho’s bright orange color adds an extra level of visibility without adding weight or size to your survival kit. When laid on the ground, it can even be seen from the air. The resealable pouch is designed for double duty as well. In a pinch, it can be used as a makeshift dry bag or water capture and storage vessel.

I got one of these great weight and strength, good backpacking poncho. "Francisco" ummm... Mexico City? Seriously?! I and a knife expert friend have received cheap clones of Gerber products from Amazon. Mexico is notorious for cloned merchandise. It just may be the crap you claim to had received is you're your gullibility.

THIS is the poncho you want, and NOT the heavier PVC ones. Why? Because the PVC ones are TOO HEAVY to carry, and take up TOO MUCH SPACE.

We bought this poncho for around 12 bucks in Mexico City and I am terribly dissappointed. I mean, how on earth is this "survival" poncho?? It's like a really cheap garbage bag with Bear Grylls name on it. I've seen better quality poncho, better materials (Tarp, PVC) for less than 10 bucks.

Sucks, DO NOT BUY. Buy a decent tarp poncho for 8 bucks, not this shit.

So sad, I am a fan of Bear and still...
