Details:

The 06 Combat Folder is a knife that is designed for everyday use. This highly functional utility blade gets the job done right the first time. Whether in combat or tackling other mission essential tasks, soldiers can rely on the superior quality and functionality this knife delivers. The unique plunge lock design is easy to use when wearing gloves and provides an additional safety measure by keeping fingers clear from the blade while it closes.
I want to love this knife, but it just comes up short in a few key areas. It's stout, solid in the hand, great ergos. Unfortunately the lack of washers make for a rather sluggish action. What's worse, the stop pin that catches the knife on closing is too small and allows the blade to hit the inside of the pommel, so one handed closing results in a rolled edge. No point in carrying a dull knife. This knife should be my favorite blade in my rotation, unfortunately it's not.
This is great knife, and I like it, but the design of mechanics is not the best. This knife has significant blade play, both vertical and horizontal. If you tighten screws, the blade play will be gone, but it will be impossible to open/close the knife. I have disassembled the knife, and noticed, it does not use washers, rather the blade is sliding on the lifted liner bars - bad idea, bars are not polished, and I doubt made with the required precision. This entire construction by its design assumes blade play, it makes it unavoidable. If your knife does not have one, consider yourself lucky. Never the less, I like the knife and can recomend it.
The knife arrived razor sharp and held a good edge. The blade tends to rust quickly but comes off with a wet jizz rag. Great knife for edc. I attached a French tickler ring to the lanyard to make drawing from the pocket easier. I recommend.
Good knife for everyday use but a little to pricy. Sharp knife for groids. I would recommend if not for price.
Good stout knife, holds an edge well. After some use it becomes very easy to open. I bought one when it first came out as I had been begging Gerber to use the blade shape of the 06 Auto but in a manual version for us non special people. As others have stated the blade does strike the pommel in the closed position if its closed hard. I put some felt in handle to mitigate this but a bigger diameter stop pin or a smaller radius on the base of the blade where it interfaces with the stop pin would be a better solution.
The Gerber 06 Folder is absolutely amazing: solid, built with quality materials, and great ergonomics. I'd stack it up against and other hard use out there. I only wish Gerber would sell these at stores such as Bass Pro or Cabelas. These folders would quickly change the views of those that look down upon Gerber due to their Chinese made knives.
best knife ever, hands down.
i have used this robust knife to
1. cut though seat bealts
2. cut through denim jeans
3. cut rope
4. smash through car side window.
your knife is only limited to your imagination.
This knife looks cool and super tough, but why must you have milltary credentials (thats what you mean right) to purchase it?
