MEET GERBER
Details:
We designed this multi-tool pack for survival in the most extreme conditions. Sheathed in a locking carrying case that attaches to a belt or backpack strap, it includes a 12 component multi-tool, flashlight and fire starter rod. Every tool in the kit is outfitted with durable rubber handles for easy gripping, even with gloved hands. All of the multi-tool features are locking - needle nose pliers, wire cutters, wood saw, pierce, scissors, partially serrated blade and more. This is the all weather workhorse of the Survival Series.
*Fire Starter Replacement for the Survival Tool Pack can be found here
I don't recall paying as much as this for mine but it has been a few years. I can say that some of the finish on this product is lacking, plastic frills on the plastic parts or the grip on the flashlight is not adhered to the body. The survival tips are handy, where do you put them? A slot or place for the foldable would be great. I agree with others that the lock release can be hard to manipulate. The use of the Tri-Star looking fasteners as opposed to hex or t-star would allow me to tighten or loosen the tension of the tools. On the whole it has been well used.
I work maintenance I have used this tool a lot in and out of work. The pliers did break once. And bass pro replaced it. The flash light works but they need to fix it so the rubber on the flash light does not get screwed up when putting it in and pulling it out the holder. The case for this and the added flash light is a great idea. They need to make this tool a lot stronger. And the added price would be worth it. The case alone is the biggest sell point with this tool.
The multitool is actually pretty outstanding, and has lasted me for a good long while. The fire striker is very good as well. The flashlight however, is terrible. It's extremely cheap, and broke after the first day of use. Also, the pliers on the multitool aren't very tough, and could break if used too much. So just keep in mind, this is not the toughest multitool on the planet. It's great for a starting survivalist, but not an expert...
I got this for the SO called BUILT TO LAST and after a 2weeks flash light is dead and the phillips ckacked and is NOW broke and unusable. I called to JUST have it swapped out, U GARBER never got back to me. VERY disappointed and upset....
I just bought this great piece of equipment at first when I opened it. The multi tool was hard to use the lock mechanism and to get it in and out of the sheath. So i played with it for a while and it started to loosen up. Then the fire steel gave me quite a good spark that would be very useful to have in a survival situation. The flash light seems very bright and will last a long time.
I've owned the Bear Grylls Survival Tool Pack for almost two years. For the first time I had to use the can opener on a large can of tuna. After 5 punctures, the can edge grip piece snapped clean off. Glad I wasn't in a situation that depended on this portion to the tool.
I have so much Bear Grylls/Gerber survival products. I recently became very disappointed when I went to open a can of tuna with the can opener, because I couldn't find the house can opener. Well I started using it, and it seem to be going well, when the little pieces that hooks under the can edge lip, snapped clean off. I walk like what!.....$96.00 for this and this is what happens. I'm glad I wasn't in a survival situation, because this tool would've have failed miserably. I gave it two stars only because everything else has held up so far. Oh! and in almost two years this is the first time I used the can opener tool. I'm so disappointed.
are the tools supposed to be loose and flimsy? because mine are. and also the thumb stud for the knife fell of when I took it out of the package is this normal and will Gerber warranty this?
got this tool kit today. Thank God I didn't test it while doing one of my excursions as the pliers broke. The thing broke while I was stripping electrical wire. I am not confident that it will do well in a rugged, survival situation. Too bad, because the set-up is good and no doubt that the firesteel and flashlight are well built. There is a lot of potential in Bear's equipment, the quality control just needs to be tightened or bring the production back to USA. Please!
I am very disappointed on this product. My son ask me to buy it for him with own money from Amazon. Everything was good until a few weeks gone bye. His flash light took a dump. Its supposed to be rugged. He drop it on the floor now it dead. The led bulb don't work. Now my son is angry cause you guys maje cheap products that don't last.
I really want to give this a 5star but can't . I had it about a year. then the case got loose and lost flashlight, then the pliers jaw broke off while tightening a bolt. Waiting to hear if Gerber will warrant at least the pliers . Otherwise, it functioned well for everything i have asked of it until now. It has worked great for everything from backcountry firestarting/cutting kindling to mechanicing on heavy equipment. I use it several times a day even with the broken jaw. also the bottle opener doubles as a can opener.
I was shown this survival tool pack at a trade show and have placed it on my mole gear for SWAT...I like the quality and being compact.
This item had a rod but no striker if i will be purchasing this what will be the alternative that I can use as a striker for the rod.
the multi-tool is the best. the flashlight is good to but it's a little hard to get out of the sheath. surprised to find the multitool spring loaded :-)
over all great tool
Big fan of the tool, but you can buy a great and durable leatherman for a good price and a $9 flint / magnesium fire starter and a little flashlight.
I think u guys are try to get a whole lot of money out of this.
I am fixing to get this for my birthday. I realy like it but I think you should make the blade non serrated edge. i really like Bear Grylls.
The tool isn't bad at all. You may want to sharpen the knives before actually using the item. I don't know what the quality of the steel is, but I would guess it's right around the middle (maybe a tad lower than Aus8). The flashlight packs a decent punch and the fire starter works. I use this on my job as well, so it's good for Every Day Carry. The sheath is awesome...no complaints there. There are definitely better products out there, but it's good for the price.
Awesome product. Strong durable and very useful for a survival/camping situation. I love it and feel naked without it and my Ultimate Survival Knife in the woods!!!!!
An amazing multi-tool great for any survivalist due to the astounding adaptability, and the strength of this must have item.
For the price it's not worth it. I have a Letterman supertool (70$) mag and steel that fits in the supertool case (2.50$) colmen 50 hour flashlight (10$). 10x better at the same price.
absolutely way too exspensive, there are better options available at a lower cost elsewhere, I do like the flint, however a pack of five lighters at a dollar store is 89 cents and pockets in pants are free.
I see this tool as completely useless for outdoor survival. The knife blade was ruined by serrating the edge. Now you cannot re-sharpen it and serrated edjes are horrible for about every task except cutting rope which a standard edge can do as well. I would have liked to see a removable saw blade like other models so I can replace dull saw or change saws depending on the material I was cutting. Finaly, Wht couldn't they have gotten rid of one of the three different screwdrivers and given me an awl. Awls are invaluable for bush craftand repairing clothes, ex. Why can't Gerber make a true multi tool for wilderness survival. All I see is another tool to taek apart a weed-eater.
Multi-Tool= Good
Case = Great
Fire Starter = Great
Light = Poor (Cheap and broke after 1 day of use)
its great but they think just if the smack the name "bear grills" on it they can make it 3 time as much as its worth
I just send mine back in for the second time. the metal clips for the pliers broke while using to hold a nut. the phillips head screw drivers broke as well.
Gerber takes care of me though. their customer service is top notch.
This is junk and a total failure in design. Whoever designed this should be fired.
The locking mechanism for the individual knife blades and tools is too tough to release. I need to use my fingernails to pry down the locking mechanism to put a knife blade away which makes this tool too hard to use.
This was given to me as a gift and I was surprised to learn how much it cost the person who gave it to me. I thought that this was a $20 junk knife and was surprised to learn that it costs much much more.
i liked te tool and ad great results wit it until i tried to use te wire cutters and broke te pliers failllll !!!!!!
From building rafts, and shelters, to building a fire or making tools this multi-tool will get the job done! I have used it extensively everyday and have put it to the test. It is a truly the ultimate survival multi-tool!!!
I got this for my b-day and i would not trade it for any other multitool in the world. Everything on it works perfectly and i used it virtually everyday from just handiman work to working on my bike. thanks gerber!
This is a well thought-out multi-tool made from high quality, water and corrosion resistant materials. A nice compliment for the Bear Grylls Ultimate Fixed Blade knife and Gerber Sport Axe II I recently purchased. This is a camping and survival tool but, as to the latter, this of course serves only as a supplement to other more heavy duty tools and approaches..
Amazing tool Used daily maintaining lights and buoys for the Coast Guard. But the pliers can't take much force before they snap.
this tool is a life saver it has everything i really like the file and saw. the knife on it is amazing!! the case is outstanding. this is the tool to keep
I bougth this multitool and I was very desapointed with the pliers because the first time I use it broke so easly.
The pliers springs are made from a poor metal that can't handled much force.
I got this multi-tool combo new for $45.18 on Ebay and I adore its simplicity, it locks the tools as well as having a simplified collection of basic tools for almost any enviornment when it comes to urban. This multi-tool set isn:t designed for roughing it; it is primarily for Urban survival theater. As for the serrated blade being some kind of disadvantage....umm B.S. serrated blades can be crucial when cutting through certain materials, you would be suprised what you can cut through with a serrated blade.
locking tools on a multitool... awesome. very good size. the light is super bright for such a small one. but just like with the knife, the fire rod needs to be bigger
so i just bought this fantastic multi-tool at cabelas today, and i must say i love it. i only have one problem with it, during my review i noticed that the thumb stud on the blade became very loose and wiggly. Other than that i absolutely advise this for any outdoors-man
@the people wondering why it needs a screwdriver. Because when you need to take apart something man made like a camera or something in your car that broke down in the middle of no where, it saves a lot of valuable energy and resources being able to unscrew it rather than destroy it for the pieces.
I collect multi-tools, and I must say it is a fairly good one. The firestarter works great, the plier are long and slim, perfect for either cleaning a fish or prying a slipped chain from between the gears of a bicycle-the main thing I use them for.
I must say however, the knife blade has more play than I like, and I'd prefer a fine edge. But all in all a good multi-tool
Gerber knives are good, Bear Grylls serie call my attention for good looking, I have 3 of them (small multitool, small compact knife and folder knife) and all work perfect, I am planning to get the ultimate survival knife and this survival tool pack when have a chance. Bear Grills seen as good guy and perfect survival that share to us many survival advices.
To be honest, this is one of the most cool packages that I ever seen, its main purpose is functionality and it works great! I think that anyone that has this kind of equipment can not be indifferent to it. Also, all those haters can just write bad for it, they are just jealous because they can not have it...I LIKE IT!!!
Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the BG, the best working team!
I love my older Gerber multitool, had it for ten years, still going strong, but would love an "upgrade" though. :)
@Man: For those who compare Bear to Les, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Bear is an adventurer, whereas Les is a survivalist, two sides of the same coin.
Have not used this Gerber product, but am very satisfied with the Gerbers I have used. Son in law has the survival knife with fire starter, we used it a week ago on our blk bear hunt, we are impressed and it is now a third knife on the pack.
I have yet to break a Gerber multi tool pliers but I have broken a Leatherman. All in all the bear Gryllis branded Gerber gear feels solid and is well thought out.
Whats your problem? Bear is an awesome survival expert, better than Les Stroud, or as I like to call him, Survivor Man. This knife is one I'm getting.
I prefer my leatherman. the tool doesnt seem to be very rugged. i broke the pliers already (3 months). having a flashlight is nice though. and for the complaints on the blade being serrated. serrated blades hold an edge longer and are sharper. they also can be compared to a saw.
As usual, I have tested it in the field, and worked great, the fire starter works, and it is a good tool. the flash light is very bright, and it actually helped me escape the wilderness of the forests in rocky mountain national park. highly recommend for serious survival
I got last week and I gotta say that this multi-tool is alot better than the first one, that Bear introduced. It is not as heavy and the tools come out easy and lock into place. The main blade has a n easy acess notch and seems to stand up well to continues use. Well designed and will thought out. I like the rubber sheath, again well thought out. I highly recommend this pack for anybody who like and carries multi-tools.
Great multi-tool. Just received this in Afghanistan, and love it! The convenience of having the multitool, flashlight, and firestarter all in one sheath is very handy. Highly recommended!!!
Would love to have something like this, but as long as it has Bear Grylls name on it I won't buy one.
PLEASE OFFER THIS SET WITHOUT BEAR GRYLLS LOGO!!!!
I believe its a good tool, but definitily has room to improve, probably a file also should be included, price is too high, probably I will wait until price goes down to get one.
why are people geting mad about the screw driver did u everthink it was more of a urban survival not brush?? that was the ultimate knife was for
Looks good but a few minor improvements could be had:
1. Make the knife blade a plain edge, no serrations.
2. Get rid of the screw drivers, not needed in the bush.
3. A small signal mirror would be nice, but most likely have one anyway.
Good start, still room for improvement.
I'd buy one if Bear Grylls wasn't such a tool! Need this same package without that git's name all over it. I've lost a lot of respect for Gerber because of their association with this idiot.
This is a great little kit. I dont see why the knife blade on the multitool is serrated considering that it also has a saw blade. but I also don't see why people think itneeds a whistle and compass, what the sun isn't good enough anymore? And if you want a whistle buy the ultimate knife. So take the serrations off the blade and add a good carabiner and it would be perfect
Always a fan. 2 vital items missing on this product. But I guess that leaves the market open for "The ULTIMATE Survival Tool Pack" :-P
WOW this is what I need but this is too much money for me in Serbia, and kompas is too much it will be broken on the fild suner or later, whistle you need to add
In my opinion, a survival tool does not need screwdrivers in it. Also I would make the partially serrated blade a plain edge knife. There already is a wood saw with a fully serrated blade. But besides those things, a very good tool.
This is a must for any outdoors person. Gerber has a home run with this one. If I don't win one I will be buying.
this tool by far has all the suitable tools for an adventure ,a trek ,or an forest campaign . Would love to have this tool
Me and my friend hunter (co-young survivalist) are going to buy 2 for our survival show called Wilderness Survival on FB we are Bears biggest fans and have seen and have all of his survival techniques on his shows down in our survival notebooks, and we keep learning more, Love the survival Tool Pack, excellent job on it!
