MEET GERBER
When the day calls for clearing brush, limbs, and debris reach for this dramatically shaped machete. The high carbon steel blade is sturdy and reliable in crowded areas, the non-stick coating reduces friction for multiple cuts, and the Gator Grip prevents slippage.
Details:
The dramatically shaped carbon steel blade is set in a sturdy, newly redesigned, easier to grip handle with gator over-mold. It's perfect for clearing out brush and limbs from tree stands and stream settings. A non-stick coating on the blade reduces friction. The contoured sheath contains a polyethylene board to protect the user and the blade, a five coil zipper and Velcro retention strap.
I bought one of these about 5 years ago and one day had it in the back of truck and it fell out in mud and when we went back to get it we couldn't find it anywhere. after a year and a half of not knowing where it was we found the handle sticking out of the mud and we got it out and the machete came out a little chipped on the blade but it still cuts like it always has. this to me is the best product on the market.
Only brush axe I have used and the only one I will continue to keep using. Used it everyday in the woods and is lightweight so it doesn't become a burden when going up or downhill. The hook shape and the end is great for sticking into trees when you want to free up your hands without having to lay it on the ground. I very highly recommend it.
incredibly versitle, holds edge well. Adding to the list of things it cuts through like butter chech ohio woodlands off the list.. increible tool for bushcraft.
I found one of these in my backyard where someone had cut a trail up to my lake. I live in Weaver al. I would very much like for the owner of this machete to come and get it.
Please!!!!!
It's very sharp handles well and will slice through Alabama hardwood like butter. Im sure someone misses it badly.
The Rectangular shape of the profile of the handle literally ripped a 3/8" circle of skin off the inside of the thumb knuckle on like the 3rd un-gloved single-handed strike into a .75 - to - 1.00 in. green limb (I wanna say either Holly or White Oak). Material of the handle where my thumb knuckle was, was ripping off the knife. I was holding a Bow in the other hand. Didn't want to put the bow down as it was very dirty and leafy right there. I was in the field today deep up into this tight trail with a lot of overgrowth where it looks like Bears have been using it as a travel corridor. Soo much fun making yourself bleed when you're walkin' around in a super tight trail where you KNOW Bears come walking thru. Anyhoo... DO NOT attempt to take out thicker limbs without a glove on! FYI - I do have thinner skin than probably most people and I'm mid 40's now, which I know contributed to this issue... however it's important to note that the handle material was tearing off right there... this indicates an uneven grip pressure due to the grip handle profile shape. Should be more like an Oval shape.
I have carried this machete for about 5 years. It holds it's edge and is very useful when trimming branches. It is extremely versatile and useful, This is a must have tool for anyone.
With proper sharpening and care it is an excellent tool. I carried it with me when having to do line patrols for power company better than an axe or large brush axe. I would us a short bungee strap hooked into my belt loops for quick on and off. Have recommended this to several friends that hve since purchased them. I agree that sheath is not very good , had to have mine sewn back up a couple of times
Without this scimitar my trip through the swampy marshes of southern New Zealand would have taken a very drastic turn. Cut through vines like butter
This blade is possibly the best tool I've purchased for woods use... Shocking what you can cut through with one/two swings. I have had it for 3 years and have not had to sharpen it... it still has it's factory edge. This a very durable tool and sheath.
I have the first gen of this tool that has the hollow plastic handle and it is hands down the best machete I have ever bought, not sure how this new one is but I am looking forward to trying it out

its really great i find if you use it as machete , can go through a two inch tree in one swing very powerful
I got this machete a few years ago and it has been the best thing I've ever had. It is very good for vines and briars. I cut down a three inch tree in about 3 minutes! If you aren't sure you want this machete, than take my word for it. Get this machete. You won't regret it.
I'll use this over a machete any day. It's a great tool. The sheath is the only problem I have had with it. The sharp blade at the hook has cut through the plastic guard and the threads. The zipper has worked well for me. I've had mine for about six years, so the product has probably improved since then. I highly recommend the Gator Brush Thinner to anyone that spends time in the weeds/woods.
Purchased the Brush Thinner to help keep my shooting lanes open and trim trees around home. This thing is wonderful, not to heavy you can carry it all day, up and down hills/mountains without loosing all energy, but when you swing it against a branch or limb its like a hot knife through butter, even works great to make kindling for campfire. If mine ever breaks or more likely wears out, I won't hesitate to buy another. Every hunter, outdoorsman needs this tool.
I especially love that if you have to you can get a real nice baseball bat style swing with it. Things I dislike are the zipper on the sheath...recently my zipper split and will not form the seal open or closed. I also wish it was full tang just so you could get carried away with it more on your swing!
This beast is pretty awesome, my only issue with it has been the sheath. The zipper was fine for a while but now the zipper won't stay zipped.
I, on many occasions, need to cut my way through corn fields and thickets and this thing works wonders! I had had no problems with damage of failure of integrity. I recommend this to anyone who has a need for cutting through anything! Plus it looks pretty badass...
This thing needs to be in the Apocalypse Kit. Feels great in your hand, Gator-ish grip. Holding this makes you wanna swing it!
Zipper sheath is kind of a bad idea, my zipper eventually doesn't zip closed. Sheath should be a snap lock like the Parang or a velcro like the the Machete Pro...or a combo of the two.
This thing is a work horse! I have two and use them daily. I can cut down a small three with it quicker than I can get my chain saw running.
This brush clearing tool is awesome. My brothers and I just got them for christmas from my dad who has had one for over 5 years. After whackin a few limbs for the fire tonight I know its gonna get used a bunch! Thanks Gerber for making such GREAT products!!!
Love this thing! heavy duty, I painted mine white because I kept loosing it in the woods. any friend that has used it Loves it!
The new version is a piece of crap. The blade tang does not run the full length of the handle, so the first time you hit something, the rubber&plastic handle breaks in the middle. Happened to 6 of these tools within a week of purchase. Gerber should bring back the older version of this tool with the hollow plastic handle. Never had any trouble with that one
