Getting the job done has never been easier or safer than with the spring lock and secure grip TacHide(TM) handle.
The blade lock mechanism doesn't hold no matter what you cut. Which is sad because the material the knife is made of is high grade. I also don't like the sharp edging of the blade holder, it's cut straight square, not rounded, so it's possible to actually cut yourself on the blade holder.
Just bad product.
Absolutely the most disappointing and useless item I have ever bought with the Gerber name on it. Locking mechanism does not retain the blade at all when cutting through cardboard.
Worst knife I have ever owned. Got a 2 pack of this knife the first knife fell apart on it's second use and I couldn't find the parts. Went to use the other knife and it fell apart on first cut. Doesn't hold blade in solid. Zero stars on this product. Was going to try to warranty until second life fell apart. Now instead of paying the shipping cost I will just buy a different brand.
This knife has a good feel to it. Comfortable and easy to use in application. Overall safety design is poor due to spring lock. Also, bought this thinking is was USA made; dissappointed to see made in China on packaging.
Impossible to open one handed. Thumb stud is too close to the pivot point of the blade. Thumb stud is sharper than the blade!
I got the blade cutter and I have to say I am not impressed with its performance. The blade sits loosely replaced the blade with a new one and keeps falling off. Installed the original blade has a lot of wiggle play and blade comes off when in use and not. Need a replacement.
I'm a supervisor at a warehouse and my guys and I go through utility knives like pregnant women go through ice cream. This TacHide Edge is awesome - with one MAJOR caveat - you can not find replacement blades ANYWHERE. The stock blade lasted about a week longer than the average (which is saying alot) but to find a replacement that fits like the Gerber blade (it's a slight bit fatter than standard or contractor blades) is impossible. This is a major issue on two fronts: safety, most importantly; and useability.
I love this little knife! Cuts things and keeps my Combat Folder sharp! I just wish that I could buy replacement blades directly from Gerber...
I work in a warehouse in which cutting boxes and straps is a daily task. I bought this knife on a whim, and ended up getting my boss to buy two dozen of them for the stock guys like me. It is the best box knife I have ever used. It is light weight with a good sized handle, and easy to open and clean. I highly recommend it for people working in a warehouse type setting.
