Tip Fastener Replacement
- Apply removable strength thread locker to the male threads of all tip fasteners. *Not required but recommended.
- Position the tips into place on the free handle & lock handle. Install 2 tip fasteners onto each tip but do not completely tighten so the tips can move freely.
- There are two lengths of tip fasteners:
- a. Short tip fastener [M3X0.5X6MM]
- b. Long tip fastener [M3X0.5X9MM]
- Align each tip [side to side & front to back]. Push the end of both tips towards the hub to ensure they are both correctly “set”. *Align tips side to side and front to back, squeeze together & tighten fasteners, then torque.
- Tighten the lock handle tip fasteners in the sequence below:
- a. Secure the short tip fastener. Torque to 10.0 KG-CM [8.67 LB-IN]. *Careful not to over torque & strip the head of the fastener.
- b. Secure the long tip fastener. Torque to 10.0 KG-CM [8.67 LB-IN]. *Careful not to over torque & strip the head of the fastener.
- 6. Tighten the free handle tip fasteners in the sequence below:
- a. Secure the short tip fastener. Torque to 10.0 KG-CM [8.67 LB-IN]. *Careful not to over torque & strip the head of the fastener.
- b. Secure the long tip fastener. Torque to 10.0 KG-CM [8.67 LB-IN]. *Careful not to over torque & strip the head of the fastener.
- 7. Reverify the cutter gap:
- a. Lightly squeeze the handles; confirm there is no gap between the cutting & anvil edge contact point.
- 8. Once finished, there should be no gap along cutters when handles are closed and a small gap at tip end when handles are closed. *There will be a small tip gap present to allow for the carbide cutters to touch first.
