What are your shipping options? 

Once your order has been received, it will be processed and shipped within three (3) business days. Delivery can take between 5-7 business days depending on location and shipping option selected.

What is your return policy? 

Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we understand that it is sometimes necessary to return an item. You may return item(s) purchased on within 30 days of purchase for a refund or replacement. Merchandise must be in unused, like-new condition. All refunds will be processed within seven (7) business days of receiving the returned item at our warehouse. Timing of credit to your account will vary based on your financial institution. Please note that shipping charges are not refundable and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the consumer. 

Gerber is not responsible for loss of product during freight to the Gerber facility.  If you choose to send your product through the U.S. Postal Service we recommend attaining Delivery Confirmation or Delivery Signature Required.

How should I send my product?
You’re welcome to return your product by any shipping method that is convenient for you. Gerber is not responsible for loss of product during freight to the Gerber facility.  If you choose to send your product through the U.S. Postal Service we recommend attaining Delivery Confirmation or Delivery Signature Required.  This will help provide assurance to you of your products arrival to the Gerber Facility.  Make sure your product is packaged securely to prevent tearing through the package during freight.

Will Gerber pay to have my product sent to their facility?
Gerber will not pay for the freight costs to the Gerber facility.  However, Gerber will incur all return expenses to your residence or business for warranty services rendered.

Can I send in my product and ask for a different product replacement?
No, our Warranty Policy is like-for-like product.  If the same product is not available for replacement, a comparable product at Gerber’s discretion will be provided.

I returned my Gerber for warranty, how long will it take until I have my Gerber back?
Standard turn-around time is two to four weeks, pending product availability, seasonal activity and holidays.

My Gerber product was lost or stolen.  Will you replace it?
No, stolen or lost products are not covered under warranty.  Our warranty covers material and manufacturing defects.

The black finish on my blade is peeling or coming off.  Is there anything I can do?  Will Gerber Gear warranty the finish or refinish the product?
A black Teflon or black oxide coating is applied to specific knives for ornamental reasons.  Continued rubbing on a sheath or pants pocket will cause the coating to wear through over time or contact with any metal objects will scratch the coating.  Both are not considered Warranty defect.

My Gerber is sentimental to me.  Will it be returned to me?
Gerber makes every effort to provide repair services whenever possible.  However, technological advances may inhibit the ability to repair older products that have been out of production for an extended period of time.  If your product cannot be repaired, it will be returned to you as is.

If you cannot repair my sentimental product, will I get another?
No.  Your original product will be returned to you as is.  If your product does not hold sentimentality at Gerber’s discretion a comparable replacement will be provided to you of equal value.



I need a new sheath for my Gerber Gear, how can I get a replacement?

To obtain a replacement sheath, please complete the Warranty Submission Form at  To expedite this service, please be clear the make and model number of your product. The pocket clip on my Gerber knife broke, how can I get a replacement?
We can send you a replacement pocket clip, pocket clip screws, and/or handle screws on select products.  Complete the Warranty Submission Form [] and provide details of the parts needed in the section “How was the product being used?”.  To expedite this service, please be clear as to which parts you require for self-repair.  All parts are proprietary to the product.  If you are unsure of the name and model number of your product, visit our website to help identify your product.

I have an Automatic Knife that needs a replacement spring, can you send me this part?
No.  We do not recommend disassembly and reassembly of any Gerber products.  For all Automatic Knife defects; please print out a completed Waiver and a Warranty Submission Form.  You can return the product with the Form and the Waiver to Gerber for repairs.

I have a knife that needs a new blade.  I can repair it myself. Can I order a new blade?
For Liability reasons, we will not send blades or implements for self-repair.  For all product defects, please return your product to Gerber for Warranty Services.

If you cannot send replacement blades, can you send me the c-clip, spring, button that are used to retract the pliers.
Yes, for the MP400 and MP600 model tools these parts are easily self-repairable.  Email us at and provide your name, address, phone number, the model number of the Multi-Plier and the requested parts.

The triangular tungsten carbide cutters on my Gerber Multi-Plier have worn out or broke, where can I get replacements?
The carbide cutter inserts are the same cutters used on lathes, mills and CNC machines used in the metal fabrication industry.  These parts are proprietary and cannot be found in industrial stores or machine shops. Purchase a set of replacement Carbide Cutters here. 

My saw blade broke, where can I get another?
Replacement saw blades for the Exchange-a-Blade saws are found on our website for purchase. For the sliding saws, replacement blades are not available and the product should be returned to Gerber for warranty services.  For the extended saws, generic blades can be found in most home improvement outlets.


How often should I sharpen my knife?
How often depends on what you’re cutting and the number of times you’re cutting.  We recommend frequent light sharpening to ensure your blade is always sharp.  Dull blades are far more dangerous than sharp blades.

Can I send my Gerber knife to the factory to have it sharpened?
We provide sharpening services that will put that factory edge back onto your Gerber knives.  The charge is $5 per single edged knife or $7.50 for a double-edged knife.  There is an additional $5 shipping charge to have the product returned to you.  We do not offer serration sharpening services.  Complete Submission Form and return with product.

Will Gerber sharpen serrated knives?  If not, why?
Wear and tear on a knife edge is considered normal.  Over the life of a knife, the edge will require several sharpening depending on usage.  The advantage of a serrated edge is it will cut certain materials like rope and cardboard better than a straight edge almost 10 to 1.  The disadvantage is that a serrated edge is more difficult to resharpen due to the irregular grooves.  There is not an automated way to recreate the serrated edge after it is manufactured.  The Gerber factory does not provide sharpening services to serrated edges.

I own a Gerber knife with a serrated edge.  How do I sharpen the serrations?
To sharpen a serrated knife edge, consider doing so with a round sharpener or a similar style stone.  Lay the diamond shaft in the serration and file up and down in each serration along the entire blade.  When sharpening of a serrated blade is sufficient, a burr can be felt on the flat, or reverse side of the knife blade (you can feel the burr with your fingernail.)  This burr should be removed by rubbing that side of the knife with the Diamond Knife Sharpener with a circular motion.  If no burr appears, then the angle was too small and the work on the grooves must be repeated using a larger angle.

If you use stainless steel, why has rust occurred on my Gerber product?
Our products use a 100% high-grade stainless steel.  Stainless steel is not completely resistant to rust but rather is corrosion resistant to rust.  Corrosion can occur in the absence of proper maintenance.  Your Gerber product should be cleaned, dried and re-oiled periodically to inhibit rust and corrosion; this is especially true in a damp or marine environment.  If your Gerber product comes in contact with any substance that you are uncertain about, it is always a good idea to wash your blade off with tap water, dry it and apply a light coat of oil.  If your Gerber product comes into contact with saltwater you must flush it with tap water immediately after use and coat it with good quality lightweight oil.  Salt water is extremely corrosive and will attack and destroy any type of steel.

Should I oil my Multi-Pliers?
Yes.  Prior to the treatment of high quality light oil, be sure to clean the product of debris and moisture.  Your Multi-Plier can be rinsed in clear tap water to help remove most of the debris.  If dirt or grime is found in the groves, handles, etc., use a small soft brush to help loosen the trapped particles.  When the tool is sufficiently clean and dry, apply the oil.  Stained areas can usually be buffed out using a polishing cloth or non-metallic scouring pad.

What does the alpha-numeric number on the product mean?
The alpha-numeric number found on products manufactured from 2013 and forward, identifies the time period your product was produced.  It does not identify the product itself and does not include the model number of your product.

I own a Gerber Multi-Plier and want a different blade installed in place of another part.  Can this be done?
Each model of Multi-Plier contains a group of implements that are arranged and designed to meet a vast array of interests and needs.  We cannot substitute different blades or implements from one model to another or change the order in which they’re installed.

Can I clean my Take-A-Part Game Shears in the dishwasher?
Just like any good kitchen knife, these shears are Stainless Steel and it is recommended you do not clean them in the dishwasher.  Rinse them in running water, promptly dry them and apply a lightweight oil to help prevent corrosion.



I have the original Presentation or Balance Plus Cutlery.  Can it be replaced?
No.  All Gerber cutleries have been fully discontinued since 1988. 

My cutlery is peeling or flaking?  Can this be repaired?
If your cutlery is experiencing discoloration, pitting, peeling or signs of rust, this may be due to the “citrus” by-products found in your cleaning agent or the results of continued use in today’s high powered dishwashers.  The citrus by-product in the cleaning agents creates a chemical reaction that can result in discoloration, pitting, peeling or corrosion.  To prevent further damage, please obtain a cleaning agent without the added “citrus” in the product.  Discoloration, pitting, peeling or rust are not covered under Warranty.
