The undeniable focus of the minimal design, the circular ring in the handle provides intrigue as well as additional stability while in use. With a corrosion resistant fine edge blade, the Remix is a surprisingly tough addition to your daily routine.
It’s undeniable. The circular anodized aluminum handle is the focus of the Remix’s minimal design. As lightweight as it is tough, this folding clip knife has a corrosion resistant fine-edge blade that opens with one hand. The handle’s o-ring provides stability and grip while cutting.
I just got this knife an the only thing so far is it's kinda tuff to open an close but all is good ima Gerber baby...lol...
I had to replace my Remix Fine Edge recently after 5+ years of proud ownership. I am sad that the slide lock was replaced with a liner lock. One-handed closure was much safer with the slider since you never had a finger in the path of the blade. Please bring the slider back or offer a "premium" model if it's a cost thing. I will pay.
I first bought one of these knives over 5 years back. I have since then had 3 different ones mostly cause I'm rough on them. I have carried a lot of different knives since I was a kid, and this knife has beat them all. It is now, and has been for several years, the only knife I will carry on a daily basis.
comfortable to handle blade is nice and sharp BUT something needs to be done about the hard opening of the blade.
After three years of everyday carry and use, I finally had to get a new one, even with a chipped up edge still was good until the tip of the knife was broken. I loved the knife, it's comfortable easy to open and close (one handed even) and dependable.
They sell the knife at home depot. I've owned it for several months And I love it. I don't leave home with out it.
Ive had this knife for several years now and its still going strong. Holds a edge great and stays sharp enough to shave with. Only problem ive ever had was the clip loosing tension but i just took pliers and fixed it by bending it back. Think im gona get the tactical one and put this one up to pass down to one of my sons.
Quite possibly the hardest knife to open..liner lock only started working after some jiggling and oil..doubt that this knife will ever work the way it should..have 2 other Gerber knifes and I got to say I was disappointed. Get it together..
Update, I have gone to three different towns, and three different walmarts. And not one of them has this knife. So..I'm going to have to go to work tomorrow without the knife I've always got in my hand. But the search has not ended. I will have another one. Will update when more info is available!
I love this knife! I've used this knife for almost four years now. I lost my first one last year, went and bought another without missing a beat! And just yesterday I was working a grass fire, I went to climb a barbed wire fence, slipped and fell and the knife fell out of the belt loop sheeth I made for it. So now at ten o'clock at night. After searching all day for it. I'm on an hour long journey to buy a new one so I wouldn't have to go to work without it in the morning!
A homeless man have me this knife in exchange for two beers. Best trade of my life. It's currently MIA which saddens me.
I got mine from a hobo. He brandished it at me and shouted "give me some beer.... I'll give you this knife. Two shitty bud light lime beers got me this puppy.
It is a very good knife. I am a farmer from south dakota and I carry this knife everywhereI go.just recently while working on some trailer lights I broke the tip of the blade off. Other than that it has been a great tool I have used it for the past 2 years with out any other problems.
Cool knife I use the Remix for rope rescue. The finger hole is perfect to put the knife on a carabiner.
very hard to open with one hand . too stiff . i do like the knife . the thumb hole is very comfortable.
this is my camping back pack knife .
I got this knife close to 8 months ago and it has been awesome. I unfortunately got the pocket clip hung up getting out of my car. It broke. So I contacted Gerber and with in four days I had another pocket clip in the mail.
Thanks Robert Truax and Gerber knives
I have the non liner lock knife. The original locking mechanism is hokey. It is obvious that any flex in the lock will allow the blade to fall. With this said I'm careful to use this knife for light tasks and it has never failed. I've never sharpened the blade and it is still sharp enough to open packages. The design rocks and is the descendant of a great designer. Gerber could do better with the construction and smoothness of the function. The blade stability requires that the pivot rings are clamped down on the neck of the blade. It works but it's odd. I love this knife. Fits well in a molle loop, it won't let go. I still carry it for it's personality. I wouldn't trust my life on it.
I found mine on the ground over a year ago and it's an awesome knife! It doesn't hold an edge that well but it's easy to sharpen. Mine has a great lock and easily opens with one hand. 17/5 would bang
i've had this blade for a few years now, and it not only is still sharp, it also still has a point on it, has not needed sharpening at all since i've bought it, and has a nice feel in your hand. i will agree that the one-handed opening function is a little stiff at first, but once you get the hang of how the knife opens, you can swiftly open the blade with one hand. I also do like the loop design. it handy, and looks kinda cool too.
I've had this one for a few years,it does hold an edge pretty well..it's not a Buck...if you're not cutting wire or something (WTH ever Robert was cutting)
It is very stiff to open with 1 hand,I have tried everything to loosen it up,dirt, sand, oil, etc in the mechanism but it only loosened up slightly.
The older model with the composite handle would open with 1 finger and after working with it I could flick it and it'd snap open. Not going to get that kind of action on this model.
Gerber should also replace the plastic strap over the locking mechanism with a metal one.
To be honest, i have owned this knife for about 2-3 years now and it is the best knife I've ever owned. Anyone who says that there is a defect in their knife doesn't know that this knife can be tuned to one's preference. I know because I've done it thousands of times with cleaning and sharpening. The blade holds its edge but it is not designed to hold a razor-sharp edge for long. Its not your barbers straight edge razor. This knife was to be used as a work mans tool to cut through the usual day to day material. Also, if the lock is not working properly then you have the problem of either not unfolding the blade fully or that the lock is snagging on the blade. both of these can be solved through a little time and effort. Also in response to the comment about the thumbscrew being too close to the handle, it is a one hand open if the knife isn't too tight. The finger hole is not fixed and can be tightened or loosened to open or close at the ease of he operator. All this proves that not everything about this knife is simply the owner's unwillingness to discover how to personalize his/ her own knife.
My wife bought me this last Father's day to retire my Gerber knife that my ex had bought me many many moons ago. I have carried this Remix everyday since. It is light enough that I even carry it clipped to my night time lounge gym shorts. I have had no issues with one handed opening, poor edge retention or anything else that some others have complained about here. My knife opens with the flick of the the thumb. It has very positive locking and even has a nice "notch" midway through closing. The only thing I dont like about it is that it does not have the cool "USA" stamp on the blade because it is an import from China.
This knife has served me as my go to pcket knife for over three years best knife to ever grace my pocket for everyday use only problem is blade wearing down from sharpening
had the knife for close to year. i love how well it holds its edge. i love how sharp it was out of box and with proper care how sharp ive kept it. my only complaint after a year is how stiff it is. i can open it one-handed but only after a few seconds and more effort than i should need. this in generally isnt a problem. however, in situations like when i hunt i need to be able to have a blade ready quickly. i dont hunt with anything but my knives because of the challenge. that said i still end up turning to my fixed blades or the knives i can open, literally, in the blink of an eye. this is a great bknife, it just needs to loosen up so i can open quickly.
Great knife. I've owned it for over 3 years, and carry it every day. Once you get used to the design, opens very easily with one hand, and holds an edge very well. Thick and sturdy blade has never malfunctioned.
I sharpen about every 3-4 weeks and one drop of oil on the hinge. No complaints.
I love this knife I have had one for the last 3 or so years. I wear it in my pocket every day. It is almost as important as my wallet.
Wow, what a terrible knife. Impossible to open with one hand, the lock is next to worthless and what exactly is this "loop" for? This is being returned ASAP.
Also, this knife is made in China and it is obvious as it grinds its way open. The blade cannot hold an edge either. Huge disappointment. Gerber has gone to the cheap end of things.
i loved the design of this knife. never minded that it was 2 hand opening, and i didn't have any trouble with the locking mechanism. there was no bladeplay whatsoever, and the edge retention was decent. i can't say anything about the pocket clip, because i never really use them. then the knife started rusting, and by that i mean the hilt, as well as the blade. i genuinely enjoyed the knife, so i tried to keep up with maintenance and keep it pristine, but over time it has just gotten to be a hassle which is why i stopped using it. very disappointed, my initial impressions were so good, but it let me down.
Great knife holds a edge forever lightweight can't even feel it in my pocket nice balance love the finger hole feel comfortable in your hand I would highly recomend
I like this knife. I like the " O-ring", makes the knife hard to be taken away. The blade is a big plus. Cuts real good. Glad that I got it.
I can't even count the number of problems I'v'e had with this knife over the 9-12 months I've had it. After first buying it I sharpened it, got it to an almost razor edge, and the very next day it was completely dulled. The steel cannot retain an edge whatsoever.
ALSO the biggest problem would be the extremely dangerous lock this knife has. With even the slightest amount of pressure exerted on the back of the blade, the knife comes completely unlocked. I'd have to say this knife is more dangerous to the user than it is for the thing it's being used on (whether that be another person, a stick, or an animal)
needless to say the bad blade quality and terrible edge is actually a good thing, because the dullness is the only thing stopping it from cutting your finger off when the blade comes unlocked mid-use!
the only good thing about it is that the shape fits into my hands perfectly, and that's why i'm so sad to have to throw mine out. I really like the shape and feel, but the blade has come unlocked and cut me twice already and i'm done with it.
I've had this knife for a little over a year, and it is amazing! goes with me everywhere, the only complaint is the clip bent. The finger hole is a plus, makes the knife really comfortable to use, I used it at work to cut boxes, until i bought a Gerber edge box cutter, holds an edge very well. It has been submerged in water, oil dropped in the dirt, ran over by my car, and there is absolutely no corrosion and works just as well as the day i bought it, very pleased with this product. Buy this knife, you won't be disappointed! from now on I will only own Gerber Knives!
My friend got this knife a few years ago and I just got my mine. This thing is awesome my favorite knife ever. Stays sharp very long and get way sharp! Love it
I have owned this particular knife for a few years now, and I have definitely liked the knife. It was very sharp the day I bought it, and through proper maintenance, it has remained very sharp. It is a very bizarre design, but it surprisingly did not take very long to get used to. My problem with the knife is that it is very difficult to one handed open. This can be a concern to anyone that needs fast access to their knife for any reason. In addition to this, the pocket clip on mine became messed up very quickly, and I ended up removing the pocket clip entirely, as the knife felt weird in my pocket when I used the clip. Great buy for the price.
I got this for my father for his birthday and I'm wishing I had picked a different model. This is not a one hand opening knife. They put the thumbscrew too close to the handle and it's very difficult to open. It amazes me that Gerber released this design- didn't anyone over there try it?? Gerber days are numbered with this kind of neglect.
Weight is perfect. Keeps good edge.
Opens smooth, easy to keep clean.
First knife new wife bought for me at Christmas. Her and the knife are real keepers!!
Had this knife for a year. Mine didn't take a little heavy use well at all. The locking mechanism (metal and plastic piece along the back of the handle) and the notch in the blade the lock hooks into, on my example, were weak and broke within 2 weeks. Not sure what is wrong with the locking mechanism but it easily lets the blade over extend. The notch on the blade for the lock broke completely off. The blade holds an edge fairly well and stays in the closed position nicely. No problem with the O-ring. It took some getting used to having the knife in my pocket 'upside down' compared to my last knife., The pocket clip had a small rough spot that I sanded out to keep it from cutting my pocket over extended use.
In all it seems like I got a blade with a defect. It should be corrected after I send it in for the warranty repair. Though I think the plastic on the back of the handle should be replaced with metal as it acts as a stop to keep the blade from opening too much.
I usually carry two knifes on me one serrated and one fine. For the price, the Remix is a sharp reliable blade. Keep them coming Gerber.
I've owned it 3yrs and I can say my only complaints are the clip is a bit flimsy and the blade doesnt stay sharp for long I favor my kershaw volt ss over this blade but its not bad. :-)
A shame I loved everything about this knife everything...The problem? The pivot/actuating mechanism/whatever is unbelievably stiff. I cannot open this knife one handed period. This probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if the thumbstud wasn't positioned in such a way that you can't get any purchase the only way you can really get a decent position on the thumbstud makes it so that the angle you would push at pushes the knife more into the pivot rather than swinging it outwards away from the handle. Would have been five stars had it not been impossible to open one handed. Furthermore this was all after heavy lubrication of the mechanism and repeated actuating of the blade to loosen things up. Maybe it will loosen up over time with hard use but the value of this knife has dropped without being able to open it one handed.
i have own this knife for 2 years now and have never sharpened it. recently, i killed, dressed ad did all of the butchering on a white-tailed deer, its still very sharp. the only drawback is the belt clip which i bent the first week i owned it, it now has a better draw out of the pocket.
THIS KNIFE HAS BEEN THE BEST KNIFE
I OWN GOT A LOT OF KNIVES AND KEEP THIS ONE WITH ME AT ALL TIMES. KEEP UP GOOD WORK THANKS.
I've own one for three years now with no problems at all. Stays sharp super easy to open with one hand. Will hold a very sharp edge and its used on a daily bases. I don't leave home with out it. Good job Gerber best knives I've ever own
Best knife i've owned so far... as some people said it takes a while to get used to opening it, but i can easily open it with one hand now, blade is still sharp after mediocre use, can't wait to take it camping
Had the knife for 5 days now.
Yes its stiff to open but every knife is when you first get it. Some folding knives need to be broken in. I've had it for several days now and every chance I get, I'm continuously opening and closing it to break it in. I also can't seem to stop twirling it around my finger hahaha. I was able to open it one handed from day one. It was difficult but I got it. Now, after breaking it in a bit, opening it up requires me to follow through with my thumb until the blade locks open but the motion is firm, yet smooth and easy. I'd rather my blade be secured into the port in the grip as opposed to having it spontaneously open up in my pocket and accidentally stab myself anyway. This isn't an assisted open knife.
SUPER sharp edge right out the package and a super durable build. No 'wobble' in the blade whatsoever. I've cleaned four squirrels with it now and used it to go through the bones. That didn't even leave a nick in the blade. After cleaning, it was still sharp enough to castrate a gnat.
I love where the clip is located at the end of the grip as opposed to at the hinge. Makes for a really cool draw from the pocket or belt. Great super unique knife! Gerber you have yet again failed to disappoint me.
this is a decent blade, but VERY difficult to open. In fact, both of the remix knives that I have are IMPOSSIBLE to open single handedly... it's a shame as this design is as practical as one could imagine.
Honestly a really good knife. It was given to me as a door prize for a National Guard competition. At first I wasn't impressed with the design, but time after time this knife has been the one I have turned to. It sharpens up to a razor edge with no trouble and holds a edge extremely well. The unusual hinge mechanism is extremely durable. Other folders' pins would have certainly loosened or altogether sheared off under the abuse I have put this knife.
I got it as an impulse buy at my local Wal-mart. Love the knife, it surprised me with how sharp it was out of the package. This is my best impulse buy ever and will/has made me a loyal Gerber customer. The only flaw I see with this knife is I wish the blade was a little easier to open.
My daughter just gave this to me as a Christmas present. Amazing daughter has GREAT taste! Wonderful knife in the way it handles and so far, great durability.
one of the best knives i own its easily conciled in my boot i dont have to have people griping that i have a knife. awesome job
love this knife, super sexy design. my only complaint is that the blade is a little tight. opening with one hand is rather undoable. still a great knife overall.
This knife isn't what i expected it to be I have had it for a month or so and the tip broke like a twig
I've been carrying this knife for about 6 months. I use it everyday. This is the best pocket knife I've ever purchased. I touch up the blade weekly. Great knife!
I am 12 years old & I have lots of Gerber products. I like to collect and use my knives. I liked this from the very beginning after the blade loosened up and used it often, I am disappointed b/c the clip came off & now I can't clip it on my pocket. I was wondering if you would fix it. Your future loyal customer. Thanks
The handle "ribs" and the inner side of the ring started rusting on the SECOND day. I can not believe!
Nice looks, comfy feel, good material. As mentioned before the the pivoting ring part of the blade is thin and poses a possible failure point during harsh use, and more likely to break in cold climates. The two trim rings that thread into each other seem a little weak and misaligned indicating a flaw in quality control as it is not easily missed, blade material is about right for the price but not my favourite. This knife found its home in my girl's purse. she (not being the avid knife fanatic as i am) found it comfortable, small enough and thin enough for concealment, and the way it looks lends itself well to the surroundings typical of a female purse. inexpensive knives such as this are great, just not for me. I would however give this knife to an employee who has achieved a milestone or something worth reckoning for. Id like to see a custom sheath for this knife for the purpose of giving it as a present. Good job once again Gerber, but I think ill stick with the Myth for now.
Disapointed, blade section around the finger ring broke within the first week. The knife still operates fine but there is a crack on the back side of the ring where the material was thinned out by grinding before assembly. Now the blade overtravels and gets jammed in the open position.
The best part of this knife is the handle!!! It feels great and has a really good grip. The knife is strong and steady. Most of my friends are jealous and the awesome part is the price! The swing mechanism is tight but its not like i use it to shank people.
For a folder this knife is very sturdy, which is what I was looking for when I bought it. It's not the sharpest folding Gerber I've gotten right out of the package, but it wasn't bad when compared to other brands of similar price.
It was initially stiff, but it opens smoothly now, even so it is slow to deploy. If you plan on using this knife as a defense weapon that is something to consider. However, with the finger hole you're sure to get a secure grip. I would suggest just buying of the Gerber's top end folders instead.
One of the best designs I have seen!!!!!
The swing mechanism is a little too tight and take effort to open with one hand, but hope that over time it will loosen with use.
Just bought this knife the other day and I have to say, it's one of the better knives I own. The lock mechanism on it is a little different than I'm used to, but not bad. Sturdy and well built all around, though I expected as much from Gerber. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a small, easy to carry folder.
My brother gave me this knife for Christmas of 2011. I love it and Ithink the whole world should own one! Go get one you'll be glad you did!
I got the gerber remix for my birthday personally I have used this in rain snow and I used it to help me build a survival shelter
I had the version with the lock release at the top of the handle, which I prefer, but we'll see how this one holds out (had to toss the other one when I forgot to leave it at home before flying). Other than that, it has been to now an awesome blade, and sharpens easily with a German steel round sharpener.
The clip was loose right out of the box and the mini Torx screws that were holding it on appeared to be cross threaded. It was actually on the verge of falling off. I didn't have a Torx bit small enough to try and tighten them. The knife seems to be OK but I was immediately put off by the loose clip. It wasn't worth the hassle to take it back to Cabelas which was over 2 hours away and I had already lost my receipt. I simply bought another knife from another manufacturer.
Great blade and very comfortable grip. Needs sharpening regularly but has yet to break or anything despite what I put it through
the knife is too tight and is easily scratched , the blade turns dull after a week and always need special sharpener to keep it sharp
Durability is good. Bent the clip, but it was easy to remove and straighten. I carry and use my knife every day. It is a tool and holds up well. The knife holds an edge.
My only gripe is it is too tight to open one handed, and requires a special tool (th
I've had this knife for over a year and had no problems whatsoever. It may not be as bright and shiny as it once was, but it's still 100% functional and a great knife for clipping inside a boot or pocket.
