I've used the snot out of this knife the last 4 years. It was a gift without documentation, so I was unaware of it's spec's until today.
Its been used significantly for cutting cardboard, plastics, tin foil, stripping industrial wire, digging dirt from screw heads, scraping paint from sheet metal, and thousands of passes threw tape, rags, packaging and gasket material. Its even been used as a pry bar. This knife needs to be sharpened often, but considering its abusive work history, its been flawless. This knife looks ugly (the rubber sides are long gone) but keeps on working with one hand operation in and out of my pocket daily.
I've been looking for it's "perfect" replacement (without luck), and that has led me to finding it here on Gerber's website. I give it a five star rating for its long reliable service. My only wish is for this knife to have a longer lasting edge retaining material.
Just bought this and a bit disappointing for me.
Not the best edge right out of the package and is basically impossible to open with one hand.
I like the size and feel of the knife but wish they had put something better on it for one handed operation.
I've worn this knife on my waist every day for over 4 years, used the blade for all kinds of utility purposes. Very handy to have around. It can take some punishment, but just recently the clip lost a screw and slides around, so I need to replace it. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if they were in stock.
Bought this knife with engraved names as wedding presents for the guys, they all loved them. Simple, small, and durable. I've been using mine (couldn't help but get one for me too) for almost 4 years. Like Andrew said, the rubber pulls away after a while but outside of that I've not had any issues. I use my knife about once a day for light use tasks.
I've kept and enjoyed this knife for years. However, the rubber on the handle does begin to wear and pull off. Not the greatest loss. I still carry it.
Great knife, sharpens easily, but the biggest gripe is the lock. BLISTER CENTRAL! It's not raised at all and has a knerling which hurts your fingers. Only someone with a kalas on the left edge of their Right thumb would love this knife. Truthfully, I think if gerber took this knife, added a saw, bottle opener, and screw drivers they'd have a Victornox killer! but for some reason they'll try to add pliers all the time. Anyways, great balance, great blade, PERFECT size, I'd all but recommend this to anyone, I'd first recommend the FAST style version of this instead.
I bought this knife several years ago out of impulse. It's very sturdy and the thickness of the blade is always great. The irritating part is the screws came loose on the clip and it fell off somewhere. Also the rubber on the handle catches on your pants wen you try to put it in your pocket. Great to keep In a tool box or tackle box just not the best for an every day carry knife
