I've owned this knife for about 2yrs now, come to find out that they make a Non-serrated edge version at Walmart and I may have to go shopping. I do love this knife and Its a tank, I've thrown everything from mechanic work to cutting Apples at it and it pushed through no problem. I love the lightweight handle and the lock back mech too. I will say that the only downside is the price and the serrations. For $50 you can find a better steel but luckily I got mine sale at Field and Stream. If you like lightweight and easy to sharpen steal this is a great choice.
I had this knife since 2015. Multiple Deployments (Afghanistan) TDYs (Nellis) just to name a few... and this thing goes with me everywhere. The best all-purpose knife one could need. Sharpens on a stone beautifully and after 4 years it has not let me down.
This is a heirloom knife I will buy for my sons one day... I would prefer to buy them their own rather than pass mine on... So I hope they keep this guy in production.
If you can find the version that only sells at Walmart, get it instead. It's a Walmart/Gerber exclusive that has a matte silver bead blast finished blade with no serrations (yes!), and a dark grey handle. Why Gerber insists on having serrations on their knives is beyond me, when most of the industry is moving away from this. The knife overall has a great ergonomic feel. Easy to deploy and it's very lightweight which is also a plus. I think the pocket clip could have been better designed, it clips, but retention is not very strong. I own better knives but this one I will give 3 stars because it is functional and does exactly what it needs to do, and is made in the USA.
Picked this knife up for less than $10 in a clearance bin at a Walmart. Great knife. Carry it everywhere.
I'm writing my review for the plain edge version of the Order, which I believe is/was only available at Walmart. 420HC is NOT super steel by any means, but it's certainly good, user-friendly steel when it's properly heat treated, and Gerber has definitely done that here. I've only had to sharpen mine once in the year or so that I've had it. It came sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm, the handle is very comfortable and grippy, and the cutout on the spine of the blade makes a great resting point for your thumb if you want choke way up on the blade. No play AT ALL in the lockup. The only improvement I'd suggest would be the addition of a new pocket clip that could be swapped for tip-up or tip-down and left or right hand carry. Other than that, it's a near-perfect EDC. I'd rate it 4.5 out 5 if I could.
Also, I would politely suggest that Gerber make the plain-edge version more readily available. Not everybody wants serrations, so it would be nice if either version could be easily found, just to keep everybody happy no matter what their blade preference is.
Great little knife, good job Gerber! Use it daily everything from evidence tape to zip ties . Handles everything I have used it for. Big bonus, price! if I lose it or it gets damaged not out big bucks to replace. Keep up the great work! Been carrying Gerber products since the 80s
Just found the Order at Wal-Mart. 35 bucks, great deal. Try testing the edge on a popsicle stick.Cuts smooth and deep if you want it to, with nice curly cues. Put it in my opposite pocket without removing my ZT carry knife. Couldn't feel a difference. The index finger choil and thumb ramp make it easy to choke up. The blade locks up tight with no play. I like the idea of 420 hc and made in America the day after 9-11. Great job Gerber!
Awesome knife. Light weight. It is still sharp even after a year. Good lock up, no wiggle. The rubber texture is still the same as when it was new.
Love this knife can't wait to use it on a deer works Great on brim catfish and squirrel well works great period Gerber number one in knives keep it going gerber
The Order Clip Point folder is a very nice and lightweight EDC knife. It's very lightweight and you can hardly tell it is on your pocket.
The design of the blade has a recess so that you can choke up on the blade for more intricate work.
Its made in the USA which is just awesome in itself. Plus it comes very sharp.
Rubberized grip makes it easy to handle in all kinds of scenarios.
Super simple and awesome addition to anyone's every day carry essentials.
Amazing little knife. Perfect for EveryDay Carry. Small and compact, very versatile. Never found myself in a situation where I wished I had another knife. Best for someone who wants an EDC knife but doesnt know where to start. You will carry this knife for years. Absolutely love it.
It is amazing how long this knife holds its edge. You can not even compare it to one made in China. It is worth paying a little more just for that reason. I bought this knife because it was made in the U.S.A. Order one today if it says made in Oregon, U.S.A.
Back to the basics. It's a born all out performer doing almost and most other things just a knife does't always do.
I have a small collection of Gerber knives for everyday carry and they great knives, though they are made in China, I still love them and they perform well. This one however, is Made in the USA and out performs all the others, there are a couple more USA made models I would like to purchase also. If Gerber continues making affordable USA made models like this I will continue to be a lifelong customer. Order your "Order" today, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Gerber!
So I whent to the States (came from Canada) and came back with an awesome blade. It would cut anything in its path Great job Gerber!
Just got this today in the mail, came extremely sharp and suprisingly light! Great knife all around keep it up gerber:)
That's the first knife that cought my eye after years with Gator and Lmf models on my side. Outstanding knife. The most important thing i'm missing is the plain edge model.
It looks cool because you can open it by just the flick of the cut in the knife and it has a black coat on the blade, also it looks like it has a really good handle for grab
Awesome knife for the money. It came shaving sharp. Nice edge retention, and easy to re-sharpen. Nice to see it made state side as well.
I bought this knife a couple months ago, and have carried it every day in my pocket, no play, only had to sharpen once after I got it,
and it has no blade play, perfect knife for small everyday tasks.
I recieved this knive in the mail a few days ago after purchasing it online. What really made me want to buy it is that it is made in the US starting in 2014. Straight out of the package it wa sharp enough to easily shave, lightly run it up your arm and the hair is gone. The knive has no blade play. Overall it seems to be made solidly and I will be buying more for gifts and such.
