Designed by the acclaimed knife maker, William Harsey, Jr., the Air Ranger folding knife assists in determining solutions for everyday problems. With its elegant partially serrated drop point 3.26-inch blade, this folder packs a serious punch when tasked for assistance. The Air Ranger folding knife is a great, logical daily carry for addressing troublesome encounters with efficiency.

Establishing the Air Ranger as distinct from similar folders is its innovative handle. A sophisticated crosshatch pattern etched along the machined aluminum surface offers the holder steady purchase during deployment of the blade. The one-handed open releases with a thumb using the dual thumb studs positioned near the hilt. Make dexterous use of the knife in all conditions, no matter if the hand holding it is covered in water, sweat, or mud, thanks to the Air Ranger’s ingeniously designed deeply grooved grip.

Whether implementing its fine edge to make clean, accurate cuts or the serrated portion to saw through rope, twine, wood, or aluminum, the Air Ranger’s high carbon stainless steel blade makes short work of daily tasks. Slice open tape on the latest Internet delivery, cut cardboard to help with a child’s school project, or cut the tow rope when out boating using the blade of this light but rugged knife. The Air Ranger’s well-adhered stainless steel pocket clip reliably keeps it tethered to a pocket or belt loop. The lanyard hole provides optional tie-down and additional security for the sturdy knife.

I have owned this knife for just over a week, have not been using it heavily, and have been taking good care of it when I have used it (cleaning and drying it, etc.). There are already multiple rust spots appearing on the blade. Needless to say, one would hope (and expect) that the knife would be resilient against some mild humidity and occasional use. Very disappointed.

The air ranger is the best knife I have ever owned. I am a fourth degree black belt and I own and operate my own martial arts school. For over 15 years I have trained people in self defense with a large focus on knives. The air ranger is the only knife that I have carry on me every day for the last 13 years. Great job William Harsey, Jr. and Gerber.

I have been caring this knife for approximately 25 years. I have several of them in various colors, both styles of blades that I care one of them on a daily basis. I have never had a problem with them. They hold an edge, stand up to any task that I put them to. I love them for their light weight and durability. If I could give them 10 stars I would

Bought at cabelas for less than $15. For this price it is awesome edc. It is light and thin to have in pocket but not too thin to hold in grip when open. Ive had for about 4 months and blade edge is sharp and held edge. No rust, screws loosening or blade slop. Opens easy with 1 hand. Highly recommend if you find under $30. Only thing is a few gouges in the aluminum scales from using to open beer bottles. That being siad still glad hndles are aluminum for wt savings.

I have already owned, and still use the G10 Air Ranger, but after finding this one on sale at a large outdoor retailer, I couldn't pass up another, or two. This one features serrations and an aluminum handle to contrast the straight edge and g10 scale of the other version. I didn't even give a second thought to purchasing a this version for the price. If you are a simple, casual knife user, this is a great EDC for you to start with, or have on hand in a desk drawer or backpack.

  • |BY: , Edge grind and liner lock are the issues

The fit and finish is very good. Very smooth action. The knife did not arrive sharp. It could not even cut paper but tore it instead. I believe this is due to the edge grind being very obtuse and thick. It is going to take a lot of thinning out before it cuts the way it should. The liner lock is also an issue. It actually engages too far and is hard to disengage to close the knife. The thumb studs are not the easiest to use to flick the blade open. All of this prevents this blade from being my EDC, which is a shame as it is a good looking knife.

I have never had a problem with my 5+ year old Air Ranger. If yours is rusting (It is because you got a defect from some crap vendor who doesn't care), loosing clip screws (IF CLIP SCREWS ARE LOOSE GET A T6 BIT...TIGHTEN IT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT AND YOU WON'T EVER HAVE THAT PROBLEM), and when breaking the clip you are the problem I'm 245 pounds and have never broke the clip from sitting on it...mine went through hell and back in Afghanistan. ***It should be noted that regular cleaning, sharpening, and general upkeep WILL FIX ALL PROBLEMS PEOPLE HAVE LISTED***

My brother gave each of his groomsmen one of these as part of their gift. Its been nearly a year since the wedding and I carry it daily, and use it for pretty much everything. It's light weight, versatile and keeps it's blade. I've had no issues with the screws like others have suggested.

I got mine at a Gander Mountain on sale when they first came somewhere around 10-13 years ago.You could consider this as a very long term review. My blade has a Taiwan stamp (don't know if the newer versions are still made there or if they meet original standards). The blue finish has worn in places but no problems: The blade opens as smooth as ever has some form of teflon washer and no side to side play. The pocket clip is attached with 3 star drive (T6) screws and has never loosened. Only complaint about is it is hard to sharpen but once sharpened it holds an edge. I will gladly take that trade off.

I got the air ranger at gander mountain on clearance for 10$. At first it was tight and needed some break in. After a week and some WD-40 it was very good. I have used it a lot for 4 months. The blade is starting to rust a little and there is a lot of play in the blade. Was a good deal but doesn’t last long.

I bought this knife on the Cabela's Cyber Monday sale and from the moment it arrived I loved it. Great construction and materials, the blade never loses an edge and fits nice in the pocket. But 5 months later the screws holding the clip on pulled out of the threaded holes and the clip was lost in the woods. Would buy again If this problem is acknowledged.

I have carried this knife since I decovered it right after Gerber came out with it. Grew up on the farm so I have always carried a pocket knife of some sorts. I feel in love with the Air Ranger. When I find them at a good price I purchase 3 or 4 in case I loose one or give it away. I have never found a knife so comfortable and lite weight and still perform anything I ask of it

This is a perfect EDC knive. You don't notice it in your pocket. Clip is nice and strong. The serrations help with cutting occasional plant life and vines sometiems around the house. Fine edge blade for everything else. While at a crab place for dinner one time, was exasperated with the ineffectiveness of the cheesy plastic shell openers they had, pulled this outta my pocket and made quick work of removing the shell and extracting the crab meat. Re-Sharpens easily. Don't have to re-sharpen very often. Handle super grippy even with fats/grease/blood on your fingers. This is definitely a one-hand operation knife.

One issue, but it is a major fit problem. The blade rests firmly on the
rearmost bushing / spacer that connects the two aluminium frame side pieces together. Opening and closing the knife 15-20 times resulted in a small notch section in the blade at the point in which the blade rests on the spacer. I used a soft stone to massage the notch' burr back into place along with med and fine stones to sharpen the nonserrated section without issue. I have opened and closed the knife several times since and the notch is reappearing. I got this to replace a larger daily carry CRKT M16SF now that I live in NY state. I am about ready to go back to my beat up but trusty M16SF and leave this in the safe. At least I know the M16 blade will be true.

In all fairness, this knife was $16 on sale at Gander Mtn and the M16 was about $130 20yrs ago. Fair product for the price I paid. , but not worth $69 or even my sending it in for warranty service at this point.

My fiance bought me this for Christmas as my previous pocket knife bit the dust after several years. This knife is by my side all the time, and I know I can trust it. I even have a Benchmade "Infidel" OTF - and I think I trust my Gerber Air Ranger knife more than that. This knife cuts through rope and wood as easily as it cuts through cardboard or paper, the clip is sturdy enough that I know it won't move until I want it to, and the blade is sharp as ever right out of the package. This is my first Gerber knife, and if anything happens to this knife, it will be replaced with an exact same model from Gerber as well. This knife - great for everything!! If you need a knife for every day use, possible protection, or for anything - this knife is definitely a worthy investment!

Great knife, holds an edge very well. My knife has been to Iraq, Afghanistan twice, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mexico, Canada, and El Salvador. It has been with me on countless fishing, hiking, SCUBA and hunting trips. I have had this knife for over a decade ( I received it as a gift on May 10th, 2002) and it has served me well every day. Why 4 of 5 and not 5 of 5... . I had to tighten the little Torx head screws and use thread holding compound to keep them from falling out. Unfortunately, I lost one anyhow. The knife still performs perfectly, despite the missing screw.

I have a lot of knives, mostly fixed blade that I use for hiking and other outdoor hobbies. It occured to me a while ago that I have only owned a single folding knife for more than 10 years. I didn't even have a driver's license when I purchased this and now I have kids of my own. I now own two folding knives, both are this knife.
It's no substitute for a fixed blade knife, but what folding knife is? This knife is plenty strong for things you will do around town and I have recently used mine extensively for cutting holes in 2 liter bottle tops for various diy projects. I am thrusting the point of the knife in then using the blade to shave circular holes in the tops and it has worked so well it is ridiculous.
I have also used mine in a pinch to prepare wood and have even made fire with nothing more than this knife and a shoelace. I have taken for granted the fact that this knife has been with me for more than a decade.
I would say that the reasonable strength limit for this is twisting through wood or plastic, but probably avoid prying metal as the handle and blade have almost no give to them. Best folding knife I have ever owned, but also the only folding knife I have ever needed. Take that as you will.

Out of all my knives, this is one of my favorite. Not only is the blade superbly crafted and exceptionally sharp, but the grip has some serious traction. I was a bit skeptical from the photos, but was pleasantly surprised. The knife also opens smoothly--I can easily flip it open with one hand using the thumb studs, and can even use a flick of the wrist without the thumb studs to snap it open. Overall, definitely a good knife.

I mainly bought this knife because Cabella's had it on sale for $17.00 and that's about what I'd expect to pay for this knife. After 1 day the finish is coming off the handles and the pocket clip would be more useful if it was on the opposite end and the other side. As it is you've got to turn the knife over and around to open it after removing it. I bought a Schrade knife for $15.00 and the clip is mounted correctly and is much easier to open.

I have had this knife for 4 years now, and the reason i'm giving it a 3 is because when i got the knife, the blade was not really sharp, so i sharpened it, and sharpened it, and sharpened it and it never got sharp, so i took it to my buddy and he made it like a razor and it gets really dull fast as well. Maybe i got a faulty knife but other than that, this knife is great.
