This knife is great. Bought from Amazon four years ago. Great strong blade that takes and holds an edge well. The sheath is another story. I sent Gerber an email saying this is the cheapest sheath I've ever seen. Buy the knife and replace the sheath with a molle type from Amazon or your local Army/Navy store.

Good knife not sure how the handle will stand up though, the sheath! why even bother sending us this peace of garbage, Now my question, were do I buy a leather sheath that will fit the knife as the one supplied isn't fit to throw in the garbage!

Absolutely the WORST sheath I have ever used! Great knife.

A few minutes ago I reached beside me and cut my finger - because the knife, though retained by the strap, had worked its way through the snap-fit plastic liner and pierced out the side of the ridiculously named 'ballistic' nylon wrap. What a joke!!!

Awesome steel and handle though: great knife - BS sheath.

I went to war with the LMF - literally. Was a fantastic blade that handled all environments with ease and minimal maintenance. This is just a good, although I miss the old grip style.

I love this knife. It's the perfect size for combat, the blade sharpens well and it feels great in the hand. However; the sheath is total garbage. I tried using a rubber mallot and heat to compress the plastic molding in the sheath to eliminate the rattle which seems to be common (had the same problem with the Big Rock and solved it effectively this way). Gerber, please, please, PLEASE stop outsourcing your sheaths to China. I'm quite sure that I speak for most serious knife users when I say I would rather pay five or ten dollars more for a knife with a solid sheath than one that is crap. A hunting/combat knife should be silent when carrying. 3 stars for the sheath alone.

The knife itself is very good, sharp and strong and it performed as I expected it to. However, after just one day of mild use (carving, making feather sticks and batoning a small log to make kindling for a fire) the handle became loose and started rattling around. Even after tightening the screw at the bottom of the tang, the blade still rattles after every use. Furthermore, the sheath needs to be improved, as the plastic inside tore the nylon fabric when the knife is drawn from the sheath.

I like the knife, very similar to the older LMF. Good solid knife for the price. However, the sheath is horrible. Knife moves around freely and make a lot of noise. Had to put it in a kabar sheath.

Solid solid knife, never had any rattling issues. Stays sharp for me, idk if it's the angle that I do it at but I don't keep the stock angle. Everytime I bring it out everyone loves it and wishes they had it.

I have had this knife for about 4 years now, and it is still in great shape. I really like the weight of the knife and the sheath!

Solid knife, good value. Received as a gift from my oldest son. Will file in some jimping on the top of the finger guard, my hand is a bit large for the handle but that should help. Substantial blade, sharpens easily.

Excellent knife for the price. Blade is beefier than I expected which gives the knife a nice heft to it. Grip is awesome, firm, non-slip pebble grained rubber. No issues with the torx screw in the butt, but a drop of Loctite red would easily remedy any looseness should it happen.

Great grip, nice blade, but it rattles, as if it's loose.

Great handle and overall a pretty good knife. I bought it because it's design is half way between a combat knife and a survival instrument. When I got it, I ran it over my arm and it shaved all the hair off. After mild use I was not too happy when I had to borrow a cheap pocket knife because mine couldn't even pierce a freshly caught large Salmon. The loose screw is a non issue-- it's called locktite.

Love the handle. Good knife good and heavy. Also who cares about serration not every knife needs them. A good mix between hunting and mild survival knife.

this is one big and heavy knife and quite cumbersome the blade is extremely thick which is good but also adds a lot of weight. good knife over all but my gosh is it heavy. would had been nicer if they added serrations. good knife for money.

This knife is really durable but it is way bigger that you would think it is, and it is to big for practical use. Don't buy unless you want a huge blade.

I've used this knife for the past several hunting seasons to split the pelvic bone. It's been through 10 and still holding original sharp edge. No nicks or dings on the blade. I'm extremely happy with this product and highly recommend to anyone who wants a durable knife that will last many years to come.

The knife is a good piece of equipment. Sharp and a really comfortable grip. The sheath on the other hand is an extreme disappointment. I have stopped using the knife because I do not trust the sheath to properly secure my knife while I'm out in the bush. I'm surprised Gerber has not done anything about putting out a better product with all of the bad reviews the sheath keeps getting over and over

Bought this blade cuz I fell in love with the design back in the 80's, but didnt buy it then. So when the design was brought back to life again, I just had to have it...and man was I disappointed.Sad replica of the original with plastic grip...not even neopren grip. The blade is placed in the back of my collection, in shame. I ended up getting the original with low serial numbers from Ebay...So Ebay saved my day

I would like to say that the knife itself is an incredible piece of craftsmenship. I bought this blade to defend myself and my family. I did not buy it because i wanted to critique it about the sharpness of the blade or whether the grip was in line or not. The person that comes in the night with the intention of harming your family doesnt care about either attribute. None the less, GERBER, well done on another great product. I guess we Americans are the only ones that can appreciate this fact....

overall it is fine, Feels very very solid, Top quality material, Just looking at it gives you the feeling that this is no ordinary knife, Here is what i didn't expected:
1: Blade not very sharp(the tip is).
2: When i hold it and look carefully at the blade, It seems not in-line with the grip.
Note that these problems i encountered could be an easy fix under warranty if you live in the USA, Unlike over here(Saudia Arabia) where i havn't came across a store called GERBER.. Not once, I don't even know how this knife found me, I came across it in a hardware store, bought it right away, came home and did some research about this new mysterious brand, and i say mysterious coz over here if you're looking for top-quality knife you'll end up with a German-made one, For some reason US-made ones are no good here.

Love this blade, there are no pictures that show it but it is a very good tool for the money. But to be blunt the sheath is a piece of crap and I would love to have a better one the knife rattles around inside the one provided but hey for the price you cant beat it. If there was a better sheath five stars
