Finding the ideal utilitarian tactical knife is no easy task. It needs to be familiar, like a well-worn pair of boots, yet still capable of quick action and worthy of long-term use. Drawing on its decades of knife design experience and critical feedback from military and law enforcement personnel, Gerber set to design a full-size, automatic knife that’s as easy to handle as it is durable and fast to deploy in tactical situations. The Gerber Propel Auto knife offers proven fast, one-handed opening with a slim handle profile that fits comfortably in your hand, and pocket.

At the core of any good knife is the steel of its blade. Gerber knows that a tactical knife sees many uses, some of which are not easy on the blade, so the Propel Auto’s tanto blade uses 420 high-carbon steel for long-term durability and a dependable edge. Add a reliable plunge lock and safety switch, and you know the blade will stay where you want it, be it open or closed. The partially serrated blade adds utility when cutting stubborn materials like nylon cord, webbing or even thin metal. The black oxide coating and black G-10 handle minimize reflectivity in critical situations where traditional stainless construction could give you away.

We all have different preferences for the way we carry a knife, so Gerber created an adjustable clip on the Propel Auto that allows you to customize the knife’s orientation in your pocket or on your belt. You can set it up for tip-down or tip-up storage and left-hand or right-hand bias.

A utilitarian tactical knife like the Propel Auto needs to feel good in your hand. The machined composite G-10 handle complements the knife’s balanced feel, while its textured surface adds grip security in cold or wet situations. Most importantly, you get a full-size, auto-opening blade that carries discreetly and comfortably day in and day out.

Knife works great. Used it for several years on the street before moving to the air. Still my daily carry when I'm at work. Easy operation and dependable one handed open option is great for times when my other hand is busy or holding another piece of equipment.

Awesome knife. Clip screws very occasionally needed tightening, but the knife held an edge well and the opening mechanism was sturdy and reliable the entire time I had it. I've been wanting to buy a new one ever since my first one was stolen.

I've had my Propel Auto for almost 2 years now and haven't been disappointed! The blade has remained sharp since it arrived even through all of the cutting I've done with it. I have had no problems with its craftsmanship or functionality. The best knife I have ever owned. I plan to buy more as soon as they are back in stock.

doesn't open well at all, stick a lot, when it does open it is VERY slow. all the screws are loose and I don't have the tool to tighten them but shouldn't have to buy one either. waste of money for sure. I give it a single star only because the blade is sharp if you ever get it open.

the spring is weak and does not have a good snap. when locked open the blade is wobbly. It fits the hand well but the handle is rough.

Why do I need credentials to buy this....I've got a boatload of spring assist knives and no credentials needed.

The 5 star combo I want is the black handle and S30V blade.

I love the size and feel of this knife. I haven't put it through anything extremely crazy (I have fixed blades for that), but its been extremely satisfactory for normal use. The action is great and lock up is strong. This is a great value at under $100. The G10 scales make for a great gripping surface as well. I would definitely make the purchase again. Best feature: made in the USA.

I like the idea of the three position pocket clip so I can carry it in my left pocket Can't give it 5 stars until I test it
