Building on the field-proven performance and fast, one-handed blade deployment of the long-popular 06 Auto knife, the Propel packs the same level of full size utility and durability in a slimmer, more pocket-friendly profile. Updated with a new OD Green handle and black oxide blade finish, it is the perfect addition to your arsenal.
An automatic knife needs to do many things well and a few things exceptionally – deploy consistently fast, be constructed to withstand daily abuse, and feel intuitively comfortable in hand. When Gerber set out to design the Propel, the process was peppered with critical feedback from military and law enforcement personnel – this wasn’t meant to be just another automatic knife.
The Propel was tasked with answering the needs of some of the most demanding, abusive, and unpredictable environments the world has to offer – it had to answer the questions that weren’t yet asked. Because lives depended on it working – every time. One might think that sounds like a tall order, and one would be right. Yet, it is fulfilled with durable materials, smart design, and an unrelenting focus on the end user. In the end, it provides the unshakable confidence that can only come from carrying a knife you truly believe in.
Automatic Opening Knife
I have the Gerber small covert auto, the Gerber large covert auto, the Gerber 06 10th anniversary auto, a microtech ultratech auto, and, most recently, the Gerber propel auto. They are all well made knives but the Microtech is in a class of it's own and the price point reflects that. For the money though, that Propel auto is really really nice. It is rock solid, it locks up tight, opens up very fast and 100% reliably, the safety engages solidly and reliably, the blade is razor sharp, the handle has a great no slip texture and good looking and functional machined lightening cuts. If I were looking to spend $150 on the best auto knife I could get my hands on, I'd buy this one.
