The evolution of the knife that inspired innovation and helped define a brand, this tanto blade version features the lightning-quick F.A.S.T 2.0 opening mechanism. Sturdy thumbstuds make one-hand opening a cinch, while the reliable plunge lock secures the blade in use and storage.
An everyday tactical knife needs to offer more than just a stealth black finish and menacing blade. It needs to withstand daily abuse and, should you find yourself in the midst of the unexpected, be versatile enough to rise to the call of duty. The F.A.S.T. Draw Assisted Opening Knife meets these demands.
FIRST-CLASS ASSISTED OPENING MECHANISM
Nothing defines the personality of a folding knife like a good, smooth blade action, and Gerber’s Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism delivers. Its silky-smooth action allows true one-handed blade engagement. Simply lever the thumb stud to open the blade quickly and positively. The reliable plunge lock keeps the blade fixed when open and makes for safe, easy closure without putting your fingers in the path of the folding blade.
TANTO STYLE AND SERRATED UTILITY
An everyday carry knife needs to rise to the demands of the day, and the tanto-style blade is ready to puncture, cut and perform as required. Partial serration adds utility for working through stubborn materials like knots or metal, where sawing action is helpful. The blade’s matte black titanium nitride coating reduces reflectivity in critical situations.
This knife means business.
It's small, light, and stealthy. Very easy to open with both hands after a bit of practice and can be closed with one hand. Honest to god, I consider the one I have now my lucky knife. Without it, I probably wouldn't be around today.
This knife is good for the price. It is really smooth and quick to open. Ive had it now for about 3 months and use it everyday. I will say that its held an edge very well and when i touched up the edge it wasnt too hard to get back to razor sharp. The handle feels a little cheap and the black finish on the blade is starting to 'fade" a little. Other than that i have no issues with this knife and will probably buy a second to have around.
I have owned many knives over the years, I use them as a tool every day. For the price of this knife it has held up extremely well. In the 2 years I have owned it, it has been used as a knife, a pry bar, a screwdriver, a wedge...ect. it has taken the abuse and lived on. Also I work in the saltwater and there is not a spec of corrosion anywhere. Would recommend this knife for work like mine.
With the issues some of the Gerber products have recently I didn't expect too much from this knife. I have been surprised. It opens easily and the button lock is great. I've been carrying it at work so I don't mess up my expensive knives and it's held up great. 6 months and going strong.
I collect nice knives that aren't too expensive...so they all come from the two big knife manufacturers from the northwestern U.S.. This knife is beautiful and understated! I prefer a fine edge, but this was such a sexy looking knife, I went ahead and bought it despite the serration...and I love it. It opens so smoothly & quietly. I have other A.O. knives that want to jump out of your hand because they spring open so aggressively. Also, I love the plunge lock...it's made me more open-minded to a knife that isn't liner or frame lock. The reason that it didn't get 5 stars(the same as most other knives)...this damn pocket clip!!! This clip is so flimsy and bends with such ease that it is a serious detriment to the whole knife.
i recently baught one for my sister, it looked like a sturdy little ao, but right out of the box, it had some extreme blade wobble and the main screw on the pocket clip wasnt completely screwed in and stripped. i exchanged it right away, and the second one still had blade wobble, and the clip was not tight, like it wasnt even touching the handle. so far gerber ist the only brand i have really used, but lately, i have been dissapointed with their more affordable models. unless you plan on spending $100 +, then dont keep your hopes high
I purchased the original fast draw when it first came out years ago and it has been the best knife I've ever owned, it has been my EDC knife since it's purchase and I've never experienced a single issue with it all the years I've owned it.
I had this knife two weeks and one of the screws holding the Clip on, broke off. This knife is nearly impossible to open with the thumb stud. I oiled it and worked it in and still no joy. If they placed the thumb stud a few millimeters closer to the tip, there would be more leverage to open the blade. I am going to send it back for the clip but, I will be requesting them to replace it with another knife. I have the Evo with the finger flipper and it works 100% better than the thumb stud. I just want a Tanto blade.
disappointed to say the least, I originally purchased this knife Jan 16' and within 6 months the belt clip had broken off and the blade had loosened. I sent it back to be repaired and they sent me a new knife(no complaint there) now fast forward another six months and the belt clip has broken again. so instead of going through this process again in six months I asked if I could send the knife back and instead of them sending a new knife if I could get a different knife that had a more sturdy belt clip. I said I would be happy to pay the difference in cost to avoid this process again. The woman responded "uhhhh we don't do that." the unfortunate thing is the knife itself is good just the accompanying parts are lacking in quality.
Great price for an extremely useful, and well-made knife. Holds an edge for a decent amount of time, as well as well balanced.
I've bought many knives benchmade, sog ect. I'm comparing this knife to these other knives that cost $100 and up. The lock up is tight with no up and down play and very little Side to side play . Blade came razor sharp like most gerber knifes . The assisted opening is smooth and also quiet which I like . Overall for the price it is a great knife for SD and everyday use , I would recomend this knife to anyone unless your a knife snob and have to have a Chris Reeves or collectors type knife . I love it . Thank you Gerber !
I was looking for a good EDC knife with single hand operation and a positive lock.
This offers everything I was looking for and more.
This knife is of far less quality than the rest of the fast draw line. There are many flaws and I am very disappointed as I usually love all gerber products I purchase. Starting with the nylon handle, the original fast draw handle felt much nicer and was of better quality. The opening mechanism is hardly assisted and the knife does not lock closed and opens dangerously in your pocket. The blade itself looks and feels much cheaper than original and factory sharpening is very uneven.
Great looking knife with a great price. It opens smoothly and fast. Would give it a five start except the pocket clip easily bends.
