With superior materials and a utilitarian design, this knife easily bridges the gap between function and style. The F.A.S.T 2.0 mechanism ensures one-hand deployment while the G-10 handle keeps the knife securely in hand.
Gerber knows from experience how you see things says a lot about what you’ll carry in your pocket. The Gerber Contrast’s bold lines and sculpted shape are visually striking, but the real statement comes from how it feels it your hand. It deals with small cutting tasks and utility work with ease, and the combination of super light, deeply textured G-10 and steel in the body means it stays put now matter how wet the conditions get, finding the deft balance point between ultra light and sturdy. Already popular as a rugged daily carry knife, this evolution of the Contrast includes the advanced Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism, for fast, one-handed deployment of the drop point blade—no need to stop what you’re doing just get your knife open and in hand.
STYLE WITH PURPOSE
The Contrast’s looks set it apart, but every part plays its role. Designed to perform when needed, and then sit comfortably at the ready when not, every curve of the knife is considered. The G-10 handle creates a super light body that’s impervious to rust and corrosion, resists temperature change, and offers positive grip even when wet. Paired with stainless steel, the body is tough enough to withstand everything from light-duty shop work to heavy-duty outdoor tasks. A matte black finish on both the handle and blade gives the Contrast a low profile, tactical look that hides its utilitarian nature inside.
DETAILS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
You shouldn't have to think about your knife, except when you need it. At 3.3 ounces, the Contrast won’t weight you down, and the 3-inch blade means it can work smoothly around big jobs, with a serrated section for dealing with rope and twine. The Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism delivers reliable, one-handed deployment, every time, and the thumb Plunge Lock on the handle offers easy release when closing, keeping your fingers out of the blade’s path.
GOES WHEREVER YOU DO
A removable pocket clip lets you carry it in your pocket, or secure it to a bag for quick access. Thread the cordage of your choice through the lanyard hole for added security and easy location on the go.
The steel quality is good, and the knife came very sharp out of the box.
However the assisted open mechanism is nowhere near as good as other AO knives I've had. Its nothing but a bent piece of metal that helps to "push" the blade out when you start to open it. When opening the knife the blade wont even come out to the fully locked position. There is no safety mechanism on the AO, which is not good it you are utilizing the belt clip. If a quality AO system is important to you I would not suggest this knife.
When I first got this knife it was very stiff and very hard to open with one hand but after about two weeks of opening and closing it, it loosened up and I could open it with one hand. Other than that it is a great knife.
I bought this knife as a gift for my son, who lost his Gerber ANSWER (with F.A.S.T open-assistance) which he dearly loved right out of the box. He was very disappointed with this knife because of its inferior open assist mechanism, and gave it back to me to return. After playing with it for a long while, I found the leaf spring loosened up enough to enable one-handed operation. Why 3 stars? 1. Gerber quality made in USA. 2. Good "hand feel" design- light weight but durable. 3. Blade quality second to none
Absolutely great knife. Had it for over a year used it in about every condition and no rust, no faults, nothing. If I had to nitpick the thumb stud could use a flatter surface for a better push. Favorite knife for work and play.
I love this knife. Its exceptionally sharp, light weight, and very handy. However, I can't open it with one hand...It does have a good assisted opening but it still DOES take two hands to open it.
I still love this knife.
Perfect blade, definitley not for weak men, if it hurts your thumb or its "hard" to open then you are not worthy of this blade, it is stiff at first but after an hour of opening & closing it opens with ease. My favourite blade I have EVER owned.
The knife is great; sharp, light, good handle, etc. The assisted opening mechanism is worthless. I cannot come remotely close to being able to open mine with one hand. Perhaps I got a faulty product but my knife feels "stuck" when fully closed, and I'm only able to open the blade when using two hands. Not the end of the world, but NOT what I expected when I bought the knife.
I got this knife recently at academy sports and I is great!!!!! It is very sharp and sharpens easily .I like to open it and then close open close so I began to notice my
