We can think of about 600 reasons why this much-applauded multi-tool belongs on your belt. But don't worry, well just stick to the most important ones here. Like profound versatility, for example. And fail safe performance. And a level of rock-solid design and construction that pleases the eye and satisfies the soul.

It all begins with high quality stainless steel. Then we incorporated Gerber's patented one-handed opening pliers. Top that off with our patented replaceable tungsten carbide wire cutters. When the cutters become dull or misshapen simply rotate the tungsten carbide cutters 120-degrees, and you've got yourself a good-as-new wire cutter. After three rotations, the entire cutter can be replaced.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more rugged or more fearless multi-tool out there. But go ahead and look around a bit. See what you think. Then come on back to Gerber and pick the Multi-Plier 600 that truly suits your needs. We're building plenty.

I was issued the 600 multi-tool in the Air Force Civil Engining Squadron in 1996 and I’m still using the 600 multi-tool 23 years later. I couldn’t go to work without it on my side.

I was given this multi tool as a gift one day when I forgot to bring my leathernan tool to work. Looks really tough and durable until I tried to cut some dense wire...the same wire that my Leatherman would cut regularly. As I bit down on the wire, one of the tungsten cutter inserts just shattered and broke. First time cutting and it went to shit. Now I need replacement inserts! really sucks!

My MP600 was issued to me in 1998 while deployed to Bosnia and has been by my side ever since. This tool has effortlessly withstood the tests of time.

I agree that the MP600 is a very rugged tool. I really do like the slide opening action. Plus, the holster is really well made. If I had one thing to gripe about, it is that it is not spring loaded like other multi-tools. I was on a tower, tightening a nut on an antenna. Instead of letting go to open it, I had to let one end drop down, grip it and then re-close it on the nut. This also affects my grip on the tool...making it more likely to drop. Providing that spring would send my 4 stars up a 5 without question. I got the blunt-nosed model. I'm finding that I don't use it as much as I thought I would. The main use is for gripping bolts or nuts tightly. Other applications have tended to be better suited to the needle-nosed version.

I carry a 600 every day. Love the tools. One hand slide and you have a pliers at your service. Plus, the blades and other tools are concealed inside so you don't grasp sharp edges like on a Leatherman. Unbeatable.

I've had two of these for about twelve years. I carry one or the other just about every day. While on active duty I carry one in my duty rig at all times. These are a very handy tool to have available. I've much preferred these over some of the other companies similar tools that I've had. Just need to replace the sheath for both of mine.

Sturdy, solid, great price, always up to the task. A piece I been looking to add to my collection for a long time. There is nothing typical about Gerber, Mr. Consumer.

I have had one of these tools for 5 years and another very similar also by Gerber for 15 years. Every morning when I put my belt on for the day you'll find one of these tools hanging off the side of my pants. It has saved my butt too many times over the years to be caught without. The one handed opening feature is gold! The carbide cutters are a real nice touch too. Keep up the good work!

The pliers are supposed to wiggle, or else they wouldn't move. Gerber, don't listen to this guy, I've used these in the military on several guys have my business when it comes to multi tools.

Just got this in the mail today and at first impression there is a lot to like. But once you start to play with it your smile wears thin. The available tools are great but why include a lanyard when more than likely its going to sit in the sheath all the time. Replace it with a working pair of scissors. Secondly the pliers are loose, they wiggle all over the place, not a sign of quality workmanship. The overall feel of the pliers is uncomfortable. It just doesnt sit well in your hand. And finally the buttons which extend the pliers are uncomfortable to use. Overall its good but it possesses the same complaint that I have with most Gerber products good but could be better.

Have had mine for over twelve years wear it every working day. Had to have the sheath replaced as it wore out. Tool still looks almost like new and with little maintenance. Agree about the lanyard but understand why it is there. I believe that it was included to get the Mil spec.

I owned the first generation Black Multi-tool for fifteen years till the cutter developed a flaw and broke. It was Warrenty Replaced with a Sliver version do to at the time Black was not a replacement option. I endorse the Gerber tools product line to everyone interested in my Multi-Tool. Sadly today the cross piont screw bit snapped while dealing with a rust seized screw. Out of the years of use those were the only issues. Very sturdy product.

The Multi-Plier 600 was everything I needed, it is my EDC tool. While camping in the family pop-up I realized during set up we locked the crank in the camper, I stuck my pliers in the crank opening, and used 2 pcs of wood as handles and manged to open up the RV so we could get set up, It is strong durable. I plan on buying a 2nd just in case I loose this one.

My squad leader made me tie it down with the lanyard ring in order to keep it on my kit, and therefore I would like to echo previous statements. Had it not had a lanyard ring I would not have had to tie it down.

Sweet tool however, I agree that removing the lanyard ring for something that is actually useful -scissors, saw, even a tooth pick- would be a huge improvement.

This product will be great with out the lanyard ring and adding scissors.
