Leading the ranks of the best-in-class tactical folding knives, the Covert has earned a reputation for strength, durability, and balance. The 154CM steel blade, glass-filled nylon handle, and patented rotolock combine to make an unsurpassable tool.
Colonel Rex Applegate, with over 40 years of knife design experience, is legendary in the world of hand-to-hand combat. The Applegate-Fairbairn family of knives rank as lasting symbols of the Colonel’s dedication, expertise, and sense of purpose, earning international status as best-of-class amongst folding tactical knives. Based on the classic Applegate-Fairbairn fixed knife, the Covert is a 3/4 scale, pocket clip version of the Gerber original Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder. The Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert knife, like all of our military knives and tools, is built in Portland, Oregon, USA.
CLASSIC TACTICAL FOLDER FOR MODERN US
A totally relevant knife for today’s deployed military, the Covert folder’s powerful design is highly adaptive for storage due to its being a folding knife, while the blade, when extended, provides the same strength as a fixed blade knife. The patented blade lock lever, a secondary manual locking system, can be flipped into place with the thumb as it presses into the hilt of the handle, and prevents the open blade from closing on the hand of the operator for absolute confidence in its use.
PERFECTLY BALANCED PERFORMANCE
With a 3 ¾ inch double bevel partially serrated blade made of 154 CM stainless steel, the Covert folder is an elegant close-quarter conflict knife. Dual thumb studs are present for easy one-hand opening of the blade, its face etched with the Applegate and Fairbairn signatures. Featuring a patented secondary blade locking system, a grooved glass-filled nylon handle, and a stainless pocket clip, the Applegate-Fairbairn Covert folding knife looks and feels as impressive and beautifully balanced as its name suggests.
I had this knife for about 12 years, use every day, the clip came off , and I lost the clip, that's my fault.
Contacted Gerber recently, they told me send it in. I just got it back, it's like new again, they outdone themselves over and over.
This is so far the best folding knife I ever had. and the best warranty to go with.
I've been carrying this knife almost daily for over 16 years. Gerber has without question stood behind their warranty on the couple of occasions I needed a new clip for this. My own fault for getting it caught on things and bending it. The blade will get sharp enough to shave with; or at least the hair off my arm. Great knife. You won't be disappointed.
Until recently, I owned this knife. Bought it 15 years ago for 50 bucks, best knife purchase I ever made. It is sleek, sturdy, and oh so functional. I have recently lost my knife and have been searching high and low for it before i dish out for another one, but i would definitely dish out for a new one.
This is the best knife I've ever owned. Extremely useful as a tool, and has gotten me out of a couple of sticky situations.
Pros- compact, easy to open, liner lock with back-up lock prevents closing during heavy use, strong blade.
Con- belt clip bends & loosens a bit easily after years of use. Bent it back and used a bit of thread-lock and its good as new.
i realy love this knife love when its got that 154cm stainless steel blade and the handle is awsome. what a great combat knife thank you gerber
this is a knife what you need to get the job done. what i love about this knife its got the 154cm stainless steel blade problably the best quality blade by Gerber. i also love the handle. its got a great feel to it too. i recommand this knife to someone thats willing to give a hundred dollers or more for a knife. thank you Gerber and keep up with your knives
Durable, functional and always ready when I needed it. Helped me in many situations when I know other knives would of failed. Liked this model so much I sharpened the other side to match. The handle could use a little more grip, it tends to slip a bit when it gets wet. Still with gloves or none it's an easy one handed opener. Should be a Soldier issue item if you ask me.
i have 3 of these and i love the quick opening with one hand... large blade keeps an edge well.. the only downside is that the pocket clip screws keep coming loose.. its happened on my other gerbers too. they need to be held in with locktite...other than that, awesome.
