Colonel Rex Applegate, with over 40 years of knife design experience, is legendary in the world of hand-to-hand combat. The Applegate-Fairbairn family of knives rank as lasting symbols of the Colonel’s dedication, expertise, and sense of purpose, earning international status as best-of-class amongst folding tactical knives. Based on the classic Applegate-Fairbairn fixed knife, the Combat Folder functions comparably to a full-sized fixed blade knife, with the versatility of a folder. The Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder, like all of our military products, is built in Portland, Oregon, USA.
CLASSIC TACTICAL FOLDER FOR MODERN USE
A totally relevant knife for today’s deployed military, the Combat Folder’s powerful design is highly adaptive for storage due to its being a folding knife, while the blade, when extended, provides the same strength as a fixed blade knife. The patented blade lock lever, a secondary manual locking system, can be flipped into place with the thumb as it presses into the hilt of the handle, preventing the open blade from closing on the hand of the operator, and allowing for absolute confidence in its use. Clip the folder to MOLLE-equipped gear, slide it into a pocket, suspend it from a belt; this knife can accompany its operator through any conflict.
PERFECTLY BALANCED PERFORMANCE
With a 4 ½ inch double bevel partially serrated blade, the Combat Folder is an elegant close-quarter conflict knife. Dual thumb studs are present for easy one-hand opening of the blade. Featuring a sturdy grooved handle, and etched with the Applegate and Fairbairn signatures on the blade’s face, the Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder looks and feels as impressively balanced and sturdy as its name suggests.
I have had one of these for quite a few years now. I used to carry it on duty. Some time ago I lost the pocket clip and screws. I'm hoping I can get new parts to make the knife original again.
Very nice combat folder! I don't use it a whole lot. I see that it's gone up in value. When I acquired mine, they were around $80.00. I was issued one when I was serving in Iraq.
Sent my Combat folder to ~Razors Edge~ out of South Carolina. Josh sharpened the Swedge (False Edge) and reprofiled the main edge.
27$ Made it 2X the knife it was.
Have had this knive for ap 13 y it has been with me al the time it is a "Never live home with out it folder" thanks GERBER
The Gerber Applegate's cost that folder is an exceptional tool for any soldier in combat I have bought a total of about 15 of them I bought five the initial in 05 I carried one on me and gave the rest my family since then I've bought several more is a wonderful tool thank you Gerber
This is a full sized fighting knife in a folding package. It's light, it's tough as nails, and it opens in a flash. I've used and abused this knife, and it's held up to everything. Great job Gerber!
This is and outstanding knife i give it 4 thumbs up if i had 4, but here is five star's in the place of the thumbs
Id bet my life on this knifes durability because I have used this for a 2 years straight and it hasn't failed. But today, I was cutting something that needed a lot of force. I mean ALOT of force. And the lock failed and I cut through 1/3 of my index finger. Turns out I used the knife so much that it must of worn out the locking system. Misfortune, but still an amazing knife. Makes me feel secure when I have it on my person. 5 stars.
Bought mine in Bosnia, 1997. The sheath has been worn out for years, the pin axle finally fell out. The best knife I have ever owned. I will keep on repairing and replacing sheaths till the Lord brings me home.
worth every penny i spent only one draw back it came out of the box not as sharp as id like but thats why we have sharpeners but once i got a good edge it has stuck
The knife had saved my butt on more than one occasion while stationed in Iraq. There are cheaper options, but do you want to compromise on quality when it is your life on the line?
Of all of the High quality / High Value knives I have in my collection...In a SHTF situation...My Applegate Combat Folder will be at my reach, at all times...Nothing more to be said...Excellent.
this is the best knife i've ever owned. small screws are a bit of a pain but it's taken 8 years for them to become an issue.
Was issued one of these on my 2nd trip to the sandbox. I absolutely love this knife. I have worn the velcro on the sheath completely out, and have holes in the sheath itself. Plan to buy at least 2 more in the near future.
A work of art in every way.
Bought mine on Ebay from an Afgan vet. for $51.00 in never used mint condition.
