Light in the handle and tough in the blade, the 23.5" Axe delivers a solid, easy swing with superior control. A new black PTFE coating on the blade ensures it slices through wood without sticking and a forged head that splits wood evenly. A chop that is up to three times deeper than average.
Gerber axes, like all of our products, are built with an eye to hurdling trouble. Whether it’s for camping, on a work site for hard labor, or puttering in the backyard, the 23.5" Axe, like the original Gerber 23.5" Axe, is light in the handle and tough in the blade, serving its owner with the excellence that modern technology and good steel have combined to deliver.
SWING WITH CONFIDENCE
One of the benefits of the 23.5" Axe is its solid, easy swing. Coupled with a super-sharp blade made of hardened forged steel possessing excellent edge retention, this axe will chop up to three times deeper than average and provide for greater productivity, which spells out savings in time, effort, and strain on the body of its operator. The tactile grip of the nylon handle contributes to relief of body strain, too, as well as improved control during each swing.
KEEPING AN EDGE WITH EASE
Beyond the task of tree felling, the 23.5" Axe, given its light heft and ultra-sharp edge, works equally well to delimb branches and clear brush. Coated with a low-friction surface, the blade of this axe slices through wood without sticking, while its well-engineered head splits wood cleanly. Built to last, the 23.5" Axe has a tough glass-filled nylon handle with a comfortable, grippable soft touch over-mold and a stainless steel blade that is hardened and forged, equating to edge retention that well outpaces traditional axe blades.
I had an older black and gray one for a few years until this last weekend. It was stolen from my camp by someone who needed it more than I did. I do plan on purchasing a new one since it was the best axe I've ever swung. I just wish it still came in the black and gray color as before, instead of green, since I still have the matching black and gray hatchet.
Have an older black model for about 10 years or so now. My go to for camping trips, solid axe no problems. Wish they came with a better sheath. My lab got the one it came with, found a leather one that fit perfect.
I've had my Gerber XL Axe II for around a week now, it takes some getting used to as for all axes, I'm still not used to aiming the swing, but it is Damn good at splitting wood, finally cleared all of the tree limbs from the back yard and have a decents pile of fire wood, Thanks Gerber!
Love Gerber Gator knives they are awesome, if these are even close to the same quality they would have to be very good.
