We can think of about 600 reasons why this much-applauded multi-tool belongs on your belt. But don't worry, we'll just stick to the most important ones here. Like profound versatility, for example. And failsafe performance. And a level of rock-solid design and construction that pleases the eye and satisfies the soul.

It all begins with high quality stainless steel. Then we incorporated Gerber's patented one-handed opening pliers. Of the 6 models available, three feature the standard needlenose plier and the other three have our bluntnose configuration.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more rugged or more fearless multi-tool out there. But go ahead and look around a bit. See what you think. Then come on back to Gerber and pick the Multi-Plier 600 that truly suits your needs. We're building plenty.

I just received my new one to replace the one I had since the 90's. First thing I noticed was that the handle thickness seemed noticeably thinner in gauge than my old one. The finish did not seem as refined and the new one had more play than my old one did. I returned my new one so I can not respond to rust resistance, but I can tell you my 90's one had a perfect finish and slide action was just like new. I am sad that I lost my old one. It really was a work horse and everything still worked great until I lost it. I tried bidding on a 90's one on eBay used and it went for the same price as this one new. Sounds like I am not the only one to notice the difference.

I only buy tools thst I can abuse. There's no good reason not to. My first Gerber was the Multi-Pliers 600. I figured I would see what I could do with it for the past 3 years. I've used it for hammering, stabbing, prying, pulling, freeing bolts, braising, I've taken a sledgehammer to it to bust a hole through 1/16 stainless steel and concrete, and I cut my 3/4" braided stainless bike cable in half with it. After 3yrs of daily use(used probably 8,000 times) the only thing that's wrong is I need to replace a small spring cuz I was using it as a hammer again(about 2,000 very hard strikes with the nose end fully extended as a hammer), and that's why I came to this site. I don't know how it lasted the first year, and my buddies try to get me to brake it so I van get a brand new one, but that's pretty hard to do...Thanks!

Out fishing with grandkids. Caught a turtle through the beak. Heavy hook.
I knew regular removal would cause damage to the little guy.One handed deployment, wire cutter through hook like butter, plier grab barb end, turtle swam away like nothing happened.
Highly recommend.

I was out dirt biking with a couple friends in the Mohave desert in a remote location about 15 miles from camp when my bike got tangled up in some very heavy duty barbed wire that locked up my rear tire and was spooled up in a birds nest of barbed wire. I was starting to stress a little cause I couldn't free up the spool and nobody had cutters in their emergency pack but then I remembered I had my Gerber and thought I need to at least try it. Though I was doubtful I pulled it out of my pack and to my amazement my Gerber multitool snapped through the heavy gauge barbed wire while the needle nose helped pull out and bend out the cut pieces until the rear tire was freed up. I was thanking God I had my Gerber and not stuck out remotely in the middle of the desert and I was able to complete the 50 mile loop we rode that day with my friends. Gerber came through for me when I needed to be able to rely on this well made multitool in a very extreme situation.

By far the best multi tool on the market.I have had this one for 15 years and I use this tool every day and feel lost when I reach for it and it's not there. Customer service is great I lost one of the locking clips awhile ago and Gerber sent me a set of clips for it for free. After using my multi tool thousands of times in all weather conditions the needle nose plies broke. I called Gerber up and I just wanted to have them repair it and bill me for the repair and get it back to me because it's my go to tool , Gerber went Above and Beyond my expectations and sent me a brand new Gerber multi tool now that's a great warranty and Customer Service. If you are looking for a one handed opening multi tool this is what you want take it from me you won't be disappointed.

Great tool, love how sharp the knife and saw were, straight out of the package. Very sturdy, solid construction. But I only give it 4/5 stars, b/c instead of the can opener tool which I find fairly useless, Gerber should have included scissors. Doing so would have undoubtedly increased the cost but would have made this THE BEST multi-tool on the planet. Very pleased otherwise.

This WAS the best multi tool I have ever used. Until I sent it in for warranty repair. Instead of repairing it, they sent a replacement. It was a beautiful thing, until I got it wet. Even after fresh water rinsing it and treating, it started to rust. Quickly! I reached out to Gerber at least 2 times, and got no response. I would rather have kept my broken tool, at least I could open it with one hand without fighting with it.

This is hands down the best multi-tool I've ever used. I've used cabbalas, leather man, nothing beats it. I use it when ever I go fishing and when I work on ranches. Knife is very strong and was really sharp when i got it. I love how you can open and close it with one hand, it makes it so much easier if i'm holding a fish or cutting hay bail twine. All of the other tools on it are strong and durable. I never leave the house without it if i'm working, fishing, doing construction, or almost anything else. I would highly recommend this multi-tool to anyone looking to buy one.

I use my MP600 pliers on a daily basis. Not a day goes by where I haven't used them for time critical jobs. They are rugged, robust, and get the job done with minimal effort. If i don't have them on my belt, i fell lost without them. They have definitely saved time for me several times since I received them in 2012.

I've had my Gerber for at least 30+yrs now. I feel lost and empty when I go to reach for it and it's not there. It doesn't matter the occasion. And the Lifetime warranty is completely hassle-free. and from there I have nothing but good things to say about my multi-tool.

I've had my Gerber for at least 20yrs now. And like a teenager without their phone....I feel lost and empty when I go to reach for it and it's not there. It doesn't matter the occasion, if I am awake, I will have need for it.
And the Lifetime warranty is completely hassle-free.
At work I am probably the best non-paid salesman Gerber has; the one handed opening is quick to get the attention of those around me, and from there I have nothing but good things to say about my multi-tool.

I bought one about 17 years ago, and It has almost never left my belt. The only situation I really need to take it off is when I go in an airplane, speacially after 9/11. It is like a third hand that is allways ready to work. Some bits are broken, but it still works nearlly every day.

I bought a similar multi-plier roughly 15 years ago and used it constantly at work cutting through thick strap belts and metal wires. Not a piece broke until I used the long nose as a crowbar to break open a round metal seal. I am very happy and satisfied the way this tool performed over the years and I am ready to buy another multi-plier.

I've had Leatherman tools as well as Gerber, hands down you can't beat the one hand operation of the needle nose pliers. I only sent mine back for repair / replacement when I broke my serrated blade. it was the longest 2 weeks reaching for it and not having it.

I had a multi-plier for at least 10 years and broke the knife blade due to abusive use. Remembering some time later that Gerber had a lifetime warranty in the US, I went online to their website got a RMA and sent it back to them. To my delight I received yesterday a package from Gerber with a brand new Multi-plier 600 Basic, which was essentially similar to the one I sent back only beefier. Very happy with the Warranty service, and of course with the tool. I have only one criticism of this and many other multi-tools, one needs to be able to open a knife blade one -handed in a survival situation. The 600 is a great everyday work tool.

Bought a pair of these over 3 years ago. I use these nearly every day on the job, even used them as a hammer multiple times! I can't even put into words what these have been through!! the only trouble I've ever had is the wire cutters eventually dull some,(which is to be expected, considering all of the hardened wire I've cut with them) and had to order the lock clip/button because of the last time I thought they were a hammer. . but they still work very nicely! NOTE: I do not recommend using these as a hammer but that's just how tough these really are.

GERBER FOR LIFE! I purchased this Gerber multi-tool model more than 20-years ago. Last week I sent my Gerber in for warranty/repair work. After more than 20-years of faithful service, one of the locking-jaw pivots broke and the phillips-head screw drive was worn down. Today I received a package from Gerber - Gerber replaced my multi-tool with new-in-box current model with matching sheath. Thank You Gerber! As an owner of several of your products, you've provided great service and satisfaction - which matches the great confidence I have in both your products and guarantee....GERBER FOR LIFE!

I remember a time when Swiss army knives were the only multi-tools available. Back then I was given the biggest one available as a gift and it didn’t take long before I realized it was too big and clumsy and had more stuff on it than I ever will use. Now I travel a lot as a technician for the Navy and I’m picky about the tools I carry because I can only take what is essential and I don’t have room to carry big, clumsy tools that have unnecessary features. Of all the multi-tools Gerber has to offer I find the MP600 to be the best. Although it’s not “fully loaded”, it has the features I need and use all the time including the lanyard ring (kept it from getting dropped more than a few times). To improve versatility I couple the MP600 with the 10 piece tool set (item number 45200). The highlight of the tool set is the adapter that allows the use of any brand of ¼ inch bits with the multi-tool thus allowing it to be customized to the needs of the user. I use my Gerber daily and I know it will last a lifetime as long as I continue to use it as designed and maintain it like any other quality tool.

This is the third Gerber multi-tool I've had in the past 20 years. The only reason that I've gone through three is because of my breaking the knife blades off using them for what they where not intended for such as prying :(.
Other than that I use it many times daily. I would be totally lost without it and consider it one of my most valuable tools.

I got this when I turned 16, 15 years ago. It has outlived my father who got it for me. I used it on and off outdoors but have had it on my tool belt for at least 8 years. Not a speck of rust and have never had any issues. Slides out with a flick and the pliers still grip very well. I use the file and pliers a lot and the rest from time to time. Blades are still sharp and I know where to turn if I ever lose it because this baby will never wear out.

I have had two of these. One went overboard and the other was stolen. I do a ton of sailing and love the tool. Two improvements need to be made. First is the rusting from salt water, really you can't figure this one out? A real lanyard clip would be extremely helpful. As a fid it has no peers.

I have had a pair of your Gerber #47530 Multi-Tool Plier 600. Needle Nose Pliers for 4-5 years and in the first 6 months, one of the few toimes I neede to use the pliers to loosen a battery terminal nut the pliers broke with a marginal amount of force.
I finished the job with amuch cheaper Fiskars Multi Tool and have used ever since, just now broke.
I have finally decide to repair or check the lifetime warranty, of course who would still have the proof of purchase? I then look for replacement parts to make it useable again ( it took me 10 seconds to remove the clips and pull out broken parts, and would be just as easy to replace with a new one) but I am unable to find theses anywhere and just read in a blog that you do not sell replacement parts, is this true?
I am very dissapointed with your product and warranty! Please tell me you can replace those parts. Thank You

The sheath is just as strong as the tool. but only this tool , I have bought other Gerbers and the sheath didn,t last a month!!!

I have the Gerber Multiplier that was given to me by my father-in-law for Christmas almost 20 years ago. I have worn it almost everyday except for the short period of time I had to return it to the factory becasue of a broken locking gear about 15? years ago.
Still works great and can not tell anyone how many times I have used this tool in how many different jobs.
Once you get used yo having it I feel lost without it. Hate it when we travel abroad and I must risk packing it in my suitcase where it can get lost or stolen.
Don't know how I could get upgraded to one of the new ones since this seems unlikely to wear out if it continues on like this!
Thanks Gerber!

I used an older one of these everyday when I was in the army. It was an awesome little tool. Got me out of a jam many times. I even got to the point where I didn't feel right if it wasn't on my belt. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I preferred the normal plain edge drop point that they used to have. I don't really care for the current blade shape, especially when there is already a serrated sheep's foot blade on it.
