MEET GERBER
Details:
In the world of champagnes, magnum means big. In the world of folding hunting knives, Magnum L.S.T. means monstrous performance from a thoughtful design that is as light as champagne bubbles. So the "L" stands for light. The "S" stands for strong. And the "T" stands for toughness that can be compared to a bull in rut.
The basic design concept flows from Gerber's earlier success with the original L.S.T. pocketknives. With a lock-back blade securing system. Emphatic finger grip placements. Fine checkering in the handle for a can't-miss grip. And a stainless steel blade that holds its edge and brings home the bacon. Or venison. Or whatever...
Whether you go for the black handle (fine edge or serrated), or the fine edge Mossy Oak Break-Up, the Magnum L.S.T. is lot of knife for the money. And that's definitely something to celebrate.
Bought this knife in 1993 when I was in 82D Airborne Infantry Platoon. It has about 25 jumps logged LOL. Awesome great knife. Still use it at my desk to this day. Has not rusted. I only oiled and sharpen. Great great knife. I use good qtips to get in between the grip and the metal. Light, Strong, Tough yes it is.
Owned mine for 14 years, and I wish they still made this model. Has not rusted, even though it has been exposed to processing animals and lots of water. Holds an edge reasonably well and easy to sharpen. Fits the hand well and can be used for long periods of time with minimal fatigue. Only wish I could take it apart to maintain it.
Received my first Gerber LST from Cabela's as a free gift with a pair of boots. Thought POS free knife, how wrong I was. I use my Gerber everyday. Wore many LSTs on the whetstone. They all served me faithfully. Best story, Elk hunting 5 people bagged 4. The Gerber skinned & quartered all 4 and still could shave arm hair. To bad the local sporting goods store discontinued carrying them. (Bi-Mart)
My parents got me this knife about 23 years ago, and it's still going strong. I abused it as a kid, but about 5 years ago I pulled it out of the box where I keep my knives and re sharpened it as I needed a backup to my skinning knife. This blade has become my main skinner/field dressing knife. Last night I dressed out an elk, tossed the knife on the bench to be cleaned in the morning. Today a little boiling soapy water and a brief scrub cleaned it up perfectly. Did I mention that after the rigors of completely dressing an elk with this knife alone, that it was still shave sharp?! I gave it a quick strop on the leather and a few drops of oil. Back into the sheath until my son tags out (hopefully today). Thanks for a fantastic American made product.
I've had this knife for years now and have rarely had to sharpen it. Great Durability,Strong lock, Sharp blade,Etc. and would definitely recommend if you can find one still (Its is discontinued). Go find yourself one!
I've had this knife for about 12 years. It allows goes in my kit to all four corners of the world. Sharpened twice and it never failed. I wished they put a hole for a lanyard at the bottom, but I'm grateful I never lost it. The day my old hands can't open, I'll pass it on to my son.
This is my first knife and I love it. It is a very useful knife and I camp and fish with it at my side.
gerber knives are my favorite. hands down
I have three lst knives one small two magnum ,I would,nt trade them for anything ive used them on deer elk and bear! they have never failed iwould actually buy more if they didn,t discontinue them ...they are my sharpest knives I own and I have many brands of knives I am proud to own these knives that were made so close to my home ! in Oregon "thanks gerber 15 years and counting!...
I have three of these knifes that I bought when they first came out on the market. One of them is camo and the other two are black. Three of the B E S T knifes I have ever owned in my 71 years.
I have had one since they first came out. Owned longer than any other knife. Excellent. Have only sharpened once.
i have had this knife for 20 + yrs and it has been my constant companion until recently when it broke will definatley get another one soon as i can.i miss my knife nothing else compares and i have dozens of knifes.
I have the mossy oak magnum L.s.t. they first came out and use it daily cant say a bad thing about it been the best knives I have had. in the last 61 years.
I have had my lst for about 5 years now and bought it because of the Gerber guarantee and the great craftsmanship that Gerber has always had while I was growing up. Mine is the mossy oak, which as a down side I lost it over the winter and finally found it a month ago... still perfect and not a rust spot on it even though it was exposed to the ellements for 6 months. The movement is still silk smooth when opening it. Thanks Gerber for another fine product.
My pop pop has been carrying this knife since is first came out, it's his favorite knife and it never leaves his sight. I just found this on the website and figure I'd write a review for him, he said he'd never buy another pocket knife again :)
I used this knife every day in the dirt and mud doing tile drainage for three years. Unfortunatly it got stolen, overall I loved it. Easily resharpenable.
Best pocketknife I've ever owned - takes and holds a razor edge, super ergonomic, and takes a lot of abuse. It's a real workhorse and an outstanding value, and cheap enough that you won't fret over scratching it up or dinging the blade.
Carried one every day for 15 years until I lost it, then went out and bought another.
