The idea is simple: always be prepared. The Dime is a mini multi-tool with an impressive list of features, ensuring you are ready for anything. This butterfly open tool fits on your keychain yet has 12 useful tools. Available in multiple colors and a bladeless version as well.
We took the standard keychain multi-tool and made it better. In addition to stainless steel pliers, wire cutters, a fine edge blade, spring-loaded scissors, flathead screwdriver, crosshead driver, tweezers and file, the Dime includes a unique blade designed to safely cut and score plastic packaging and a bottle opener that is exposed even when the tool is closed. Compact and lightweight, the Dime is the most valuable change you'll find in your pocket.
Just got the dime today and it’s a pretty good little multi tool for the price. I wouldnt take it camping or stuff like that but it’s nice to have In my pocket at all times. It’s handy small and cheap. The blade did come a bit dull but nothing to worrie about I gave it about six strikes on my sharpener and the blade was razor sharp. I would recommend this for EDC and as a little back up multi tool very happy with it thanks Gerber
I have owned my Dime for over 5 years. There is hardly a day that goes by where it is not in my pocket (including with dress pants). I have read negative reviews about this product on this website, and the websites of several different big box stores. From my personal experience, and their comments here is what you must keep in mind: 1) You will not build a house or break down a motor with it. 2) The bottle opener takes a little getting used to. When I first started using it, it took me two tries to open a bottle. Now, I can remove the caps with one motion. 3) The tools, such as the screwdrivers, are a little hard to open at first, but the more you use them, the easier they are to open. 4) The scissors work for their intended purpose, but you will not be cutting metal with them. The little spring that is used to expand the scissors, when compressed, has worn out over time, but they still work. 5) The pliers work well, within reason. I have used them for all sorts of odd tasks. For example, today I removed a jammed staple from a large-capacity stapler (the kind of stapler that is used to staple through 50+ sheets of paper). 6) The package opener works great. I have used it to open the packaging of other knives that were purchased, among other things. 7) All of the other tools have all done everything that I have asked of them.
I really like mine, nothing has broke. For the price/size I think it's a grate tool.
People are expecting it to work to the same standards as there full size tools and thats just not a realistic exception from something thats the size of your thumb.
Got one for my wife and loved the form factor so bought one for myself. The handle sprung while using the pliers so the pliers no longer work. Being undeterred I bought another one. This time I used the package blade to open a cardboard box and it wouldn't fold back in afterward. Worse, the the knife is now also not folding back completely.
Love the concept but clearly a black eye for Gerber. I asked Gerber to prove to me that this was some strange coincidence but unless that happens I will never buy another Gerber again.
This is a great micro multitool. The wires cutters don't work (as would be expected; it's tiny) and some of the tools are so tight that I need to use a coin or other tool to open them. However, those inconveniences aside, the tools themselves work well and the product is solid. Additionally, I think the package opener is stupid and unnecessary and can't figure out why it's included.
Nice design. Too bad the scissors and wire cutter have such poor fit that they can't actually cut. I managed to bend the scissors to get them to cut (they still don't cut well). The knife, bottle opener and package cutter are great. My complaints went unanswered. Can't return it because I purchased it while on vacation and the store is on the other side of the country.
Went to use the pliers and the arm hyperextended which made them useless. The knife also came very dull. Loved the design but not a quality product.
I just got this Dime Tool yesterday for my birthday and when I went to open a stuck super glue bottle with it, one of the pliers jaws snapped right off. Just like the Mr. Aaron's report.
Would not buy again. The metal is way too brittle and thin and possibly not heat treated correctly; bad combination. Sad too, because I like the design and color options, although the color seems to wear pretty quick (had it in my pocket with my keys and it is already flaking off).
Bottom line, would not recommend.
Love the design however the first time I went to use the pliers the jaws broke trying to fix a key ring . I swear by my Gerber pocket knives but not sure I would buy the dime again.
I love the Dime! Well made, decent materials, looks cool, and a terrific price. Everybody who sees mine wants one. All the tools are very usable, except the file which doesn't have enough bite to be very effective. The bubble package opener is particularly handy and effective. My first Dime was confiscated at the airport because I forgot to remove it from my messenger bag. I loved the tool so much I bought two to replace it!
it was a great knife for the week i had it but then on of the screws broke in half as i opened one of the tools
My favorite tool! I used every tool in the week I got it and none of those feel like useless for me!
A handy little tool, I have the black version. Objections, useless file / phillips screwdriver, tweezers are unnecessary and poorly performed compared to the SAK tweezers. Tools are difficult to open, and the black color tends to be losing from the ordinary carrying in pocket.
The good side, I got it pretty cheap on the action, the blade is sharp, tool to open the package is a great thing same as a beer opener. Pliers are in general tweezers, top connects perfectly and replaces tweezers, but not for the more difficult tasks. Every day is with me in my pocket, and it is no load like a true multi tool type Swisstoll ...
But in end dime is a toy...
Great addition for the keyring, very handy.
Only a toothpick and ints very competitive with these Swiss Army Knives
I got the dime for Christmas, and it's been in my pocket ever since. This thing is great, I absolutely love it. The pliers are good and strong. Last night I broke off a 1/4" drill bit in my corded drill, it was broke just below the chuck, and using the dime, I was able to extract the broken bit. I really wrenched down on it too as the bit was fairly stuck in there. The fine blade on the dime came razor sharp out of the box, and with it's 90 degree spine you can strike a ferro rod, but I actually use the back of the box cutting blade to strike a rod, and it works really well. The scissors, wow. I always thought that scissors on a pocket knife/ small multitool were kind of a novelty until I used the one the dime. That sucker is can cut! Overall I'm extremely happy with this tool, and plan on getting a few more as gifts, and to throw in my fishing bag, and hiking packs. Good work Gerber
It looks pretty cool in the photos, but it have very poor quality!! Just received mine, what a disappointment! It looks like second-hand, and not a brand new...
Save your money and don't buy it!
Great little tool. I used to keep it on my keys until the metal key ring broke but overall great tool I always find myself using it.
This micro multitool is the best HANDS DOWN the blade is beautiful once u sharpen It and everything else is works better than I intended. Plus it's the first multitool I've seen besides swiss with tweezers :)! Good job Gerber look forward to purchasing more products In the future. Leatherman can choke on it. LOL
I've had my Dime for about 6 mths and couldn't be happier. Fits perfect in my 5th pocket/change pocket.
This thing is incredible. Yeah the knife itself isn't used by samurai to execute people, and isn't good for cutting down sapplings. And the scissors don't work well in artclass. But this thing is a DIME! Mircronized! And as that, it shines. Pliers are great (but not used in place of vice grips!), the bottle cap opener is great, but I've used the screwdriver ends the most for everything from removing screws from door hinges to working on guitars. If i tap my pocket and don't feel it I'm as lost as no phone or no keys now. Its a part of me. I'll replace it with another for as long as I can!
Such a good product, I had to get two, one all black and one black and green. Cool looking knife blade, useful cap lifter and retail package opener, great pair of scissors, good pliers, decent screwdrivers, and nice tweezers. It should be a part of everyone's everyday carry kit.
I have been carrying the Gerber Dime for quite a while now and I am completly hookedt. I just can't be without it, even when I am at home watching TV.
Although not intended for heavy duties it actually handles the small chores pretty well. Things like opening any cap-bottles, cutting cord, opening boxes and helping me (un)screwing all sort of IT stuff are not a problem when my Dime is at hand.
Versatile, cool looking and highly portable I really recommend it as a backup to fit in you pocket. And in this paranoid world of ours its size and design are perfect for not to trigger people's panic whenever I use it.
It's the best buy and it is overall better than the competition. The price is also something to be considered so forget about PS4! Go for a Dime!
Peace and Respect.
this is my favorite multi tool. Carry itin the change pocket of my jeans and use it everyday.
Like other reviewers broke nails opening the tools at first. Then I sprayed all the joints with WD-40 and they open easily now. It seems to be a very useful tool. The package opener is a great idea.
Meant to go buy a small pocket knife to carry for casual wear but saw this and changed my mind. Handy little item
