With a full tang, 420HC steel blade and rubberized diamond-texture grip, this is a knife you can rely on. The MOLLE-compatible multi-mount sheath system offers optimal customization, keeping your knife ever at the ready in combat situations.
The ever-evolving battlefield demands gear that keeps up, providing versatile and dependable tools built specifically for combat and survival situations. Gerber has been making survival knives for those who serve since 1966, rising to the challenge of honoring decades of experience while continuing to innovate.
Gerber’s StrongArm does just that: it is a classic fixed blade built for brute strength with a revolutionary sheath system that is the first of its kind. The multi-mount, snap-together sheath is easy to use and can be mounted vertically on MOLLE, horizontally on a belt, or in traditional drop-leg fashion.
Customizable to your needs in the field, the StrongArm is the smart evolution of the classic fixed blade.
The Strongarm can be carried traditionally on the hip with a snap-in enclosure that keeps the knife from rattling within the sheath.
The sheath's belt loops are completely detachable allowing for a horizontal, low-profile carry along the waistline.
The sheath is setup with a snap-in MOLLE strap allowing the knife to be carried vertically.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I feel it should cut better for $70. I didn't get the "shaving your arm" with it; maybe I chose the wrong knife as I'm primarily hacking at cardboard and the cardboard often wins.
I chose this knife primarily for the horizontal belt sheath and it works magnificently. I feel like I'm carrying a tiny sword and I do feel safer and I'm more versatile.
Maybe not a knife for the ignorant or whimsical.
I’ve had my Coyote Brown StrongArm for about 2 years now. I’ve trekked about 500 miles with it as well as camped about once a month. The blade retains its edge valiantly, and is also easy to sharpen, a quality that’s hard to come by since you usually have to give up one to benefit the other. The rubberized grip is perfect for warm weather sweat or cold weather snow, and ergonomically one of the best Ive used even compared to knives 6x the cost. Ive been purchasing Gerber products for over 20 years, and plan on more in the next.
I saw a lot of bad reviews on the sharpness and the angle of the grind, well they must have fixed this problem by the time that I bought mine. This thing will shave the hair off of my arm with very gentle pressure and the grind and angle match up perfectly. Like everyone else, not to sure about the belt loop sheath. Like the rest of my Gerber knives it's great.
We own a lot of Gerber products.
Got the Strongarm and it's goes on motorcycle adventures every trip mounted on my tank bag/molle. The snap together web thing option for vertical mounting, like from your belt on your hip.....well, not so good. Keeps unsnapping, floppy. Would like to see something better. But, we use the molle mount normally.
I needed a good budget friendly knife and I stumbled across this knife. I recently went camping and this knife did everything I needed it to and I didn't even need to sharpen it once. Overall great knife and I would definitely recommend it.
After reading and watching many reviews on how great this knife is I was terribly disappointed with what showed up. Right out of the box I noticed a very uneven grind to the extent that the blade was misshaped. I exchanged it for another and had the same result. I attempted to contact customer service and was unable to speak with an actual person. I won't be buying any Gerber products in the future.
Great knife. I got the knife as a tool and for self-defense and am very happy with it. At first I was disappointed with the belt webbing but it turned out to be really useful for everyday carry, even at work. I wear the knife on the belt with the sheath hanging in my left pocket, it is very comfortable and remains concealed (legal carry in my state).
As a man who has had some pretty good knives in my life from the standard issue USMC Ka-bar. To the sog seal pup and a few folding blades. I must say this knife has potential for being the best knife I've owned yet. While teaching my son's how to survive in the woods or just getting the hell out of Dodge kind situations, I've told them you need a knife you can definitely depend on and this is it. I must say outstanding job keep them coming. SEMPER FI
Ordered this knife looking for a good lighter camp knife, when it arrived and I opened the box everything looked great and it is a very comfortable knife, but when I pulled the knife out of the sheathe I noticed the grind was terrible it cant even cut paper and the tip heavily favored the right. Sad to see american quality like that especially for a mid- higher end price range. The knife doesn't have to be razor sharp out of the box but it would be nice if it would at least cut paper. I'll have to see if I can go get it sharpened, Disappointed
I have this knife as well as the BDZ1 special edition Strongarm and I have to say these are great! Comfortable handle, great sheath with a lot of options to customize, and a good blade. The knife gets 5 stars! Best knives I own currently.
Just picked mine up and very impressed overall. Great quality and craftsmanship went into this knife and I highly recommend it. I've used Gerber tools and knives for years and the StrongArm is another great addition to my collection.
I am pretty impressed with this knife after a few days. The sheath is interesting but I would rather have one dedicated for vertical hip carry as that configuration with the stock one is awkward. Multiple layers of heavy duty nylon with thick metal snaps on each layer make for an unnecessarily thick piece of equipment that flopps around due to a loose connection between the plastic and nylon. The blade was not how I would have liked out of the box. Not only was the edge rough and covered in burrs, but the grind on one side extended about twice as far into the blade as the other and was at a very different angle. Also the grind was uneven going down the blade such that a given side didn't have the same angle from one spot to the next. We are talking hours of work on a bench stone to get this knife reprofiled, sharpened, and honed to an acceptable edge. This poor grind has been a problem on my other two Gerber knives as well. All that being said, they must do a great job with the heat treatment because this blade has crazy edge retention for 420 HC steel.
Just got mine in. MOLLE mount is good and horizontal mount is good also. The vertical mount needs work. I suggest a leg strap. Either a strap through the slots in the sheath or para cord through the bottom rivet holes. The hilt is ample and the blade, as always with Gerber, is great.
Very nice quality blade. The reason for 3 stars is the poor design of the sheath. When hanging from a belt loop it flops around and sticks out. You can't even effectively pull the knife out with pulling and twisting the entire sheath up. I took the knife to a local shoe repair guy that i know and we sat down and completed redesigned the sheath. When I get it back I will post an update. Were using the same sturdy nylon, but it will be 100 times better than this thIng.
I purchased this blade to replace my LMF-II, as she was simply too heavy. The blade is excellent! Feels good in the hand, light, handles well, and is quite robust. I have subsequently purchased two more and they are my go to knife.
Well done Gerber. Simple, stout, fine edge blade that feels good in the hand with a good sheath is a recipe for success.
I wanted a rugged, do-all knife and I think I have found it. Good job!
The tricked-out sheath is probably great for strapping onto something else, but if you just hang it from a leather belt, it makes me feel like it might come loose and fall off.
Came very sharp out of the box. Love the sheath and the different options it allows. Couldn't be happier. A great knife for camping/hiking to tactical to everyday tasks. Everyone should have one in there kit.
Only problem I've had so far, got the sheath cold (it was -10° out) and hooked it on the seatbely in my truck and ripped the sheath attach plastic pieces off the sheath. Wore it for less than a week and totalled the sheath. Great knife overall! Sheath material seems to be lacking.
seems well balanced and fits well on a plate carrier. i just wish i could get extra sheaths to mount it in various locations.
I just picked this up and it is awesome!
Sharp out of the box, great traction, not gonna slip up and cut yourself.
One of the few knives that could slice paper out of the box. There is no such thing as the perfect knife, but this has become one of my favorite fixed blades.
Great knife out of the box for general outdoor use. Handle work well in wet conditions and the sheath is very versatile. Not sure how the sheath material will hold up in harsh weather or a good drop. It looks too brittle. On the plus side, the sheath works well on my belt and pack. Incredibly versatile.
I like the sheath for the most part. One of very few knives that cleanly slices paper out of the box. The grip is very sticky. The only thing I hated was the packaging, needed a knife or medic shears to open lol.
This knife has impressed me. This is the first Gerber I have purchased, on purpose, in almost 20 years. I like that you are finally offering this type of knife in a fine edge, one of the things that kept me from buying an LMF or Prodigy.
The sheath is very nice for a factory piece. This may be the first knife I don't get a custom kydex sheath for.
I absolutely love this knife except for one problem I just noticed. My blade is bent, it hooks to the right near the tip. You can see it looking down the spine. Sending it in for warranty.will change to 5 star when I get a straight one back
knife seems good
the worst idea of a sheath i have ever seen. probably will send the whole thing back unless i can come up with something else. TERRIBLE
Sheath designers must be morons.
This knife is awesome! Great job Gerber! I love the options between fine edge, or serration.
Possibly making an OD handle for this one?
It's really awesome knife but I'm living in Turkey and i think i will have it lots of month after its so awful for me please Gerber send it to Turkey...
Just got it and it rocks! It is a solid blade. Gerber has been very helpful in answering all of my questions about it. This is now one of my favorite knives!
You finally did it, Gerber! I've wanted a fine-edged Prodigy for years and this Strongarm fills the slot. Comfy in the hand, decent sheath and cuts like a laser! I bought 1 and have three more on the way! Thank you.
