MEET GERBER
Details:
Our patented one-hand opening design makes the Octane a quick starter, while the sleek form and function ensure it's a top performer. It's light enough to carry in your pocket, but surprising enough to reveal a multitude of 9 additional components to the sturdy pliers.
Unfortunately the blade stop is very poor. Under little pressure the blade flipped backward and pinched my hand in between the tool and the blade.the rest of the tool is OK--Gerber--please MAKE SECOND VERSION OF THIS TOOL. FIX IT--Look at your reviews.
Poor quality. The pliers are very challenging to deploy on my piece and the one handed operation has never worked. I'm very disappointed with this product by Gerber.
I've had three of these, fantastic tool, but the blade stop is beyond worthless. Easy retool Im sure, just make something thicker to put there. Please! I love this knife and would buy another if you could just fix the blade stop.
very poor quality, one handed opening never worked, and my wife managed to disable the outside blade with no effort at all, very good design very poor fabrication
I am overall pleased with this tool. I love the blade and pliers. The tool rides along well, barely noticeable. Except for the fact that the pliers deploy by themselves in your pocket. Only mildly annoying, though. The one bad thing I will say about the Octane is that the Philips has a wierd design that only allows it to grip select few Philips screws. Hard to describe without pictures, just take my word. I consider the Octane a light to medium duty multitool, and it performs in this role very favorably. More capability than the Leatherman Skeletool in a lighter package.
Worst multi-tool ever! Blade stop is 2mm of aluminum. Broke when cutting electrical tape. Warranties 2 and 2nd one broke within a week. Don't get one!
Worst knife I have ever bought, just like an earlier reviewer said, the blade stop is a horrible design and broke when little pressure is applied, the aluminum is very cheap, would not buy again, if it used quality materials it wouldn't be so terrible.
Rapid purchase due to leaving leatherman wave at home. Superised at design and function. Easy one handed operation of pliers open and closing as well as knife. Other functions need two hands. The single hand use is the main feature I was after.
Upside- single handed operation, light and slimline to clip to inner pocket, cable-tie cutter. Downside-screwdrivers not central ro handle when closed, could do with crimp function at rear of side cutter blade, plastic components on plier locks.
Overall value for money.
I also found the knife fold backward with little pressure.
The slim design made it fit in my pocket well, but the pliers would slide open while walking and then jab me in the leg
Disappointed. The design of the stop for the blade when it is open relies on the red plate that says "Octane" to stop it. I have had two of these knives (2nd was a replacement for the 1st one) fold backwards when I was cutting something that required a little pressure to go through. Gerber used to be a quality knife, but lately I have been disappointed with them.
