As an ally to the US military, Gerber understands the specific needs of those who serve. This new evolution of a classic is focused on maintenance, repairs, and operations, loaded with task-specific tools for your vehicle and a 12-piece universal bit set. A MOLLE-compatible, Tan 499 nylon sheath is included.
Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations: we built the new MP1 Military MRO Multi-Tool for these explicit uses. This heavy duty tool’s forged jaws can withstand rigorous torque and compression. It contains full-sized serrated and fine edge blades for tough cutting and slicing duty. The cotter pin hook allows users to pull cotter pins from vehicles without having to use pliers. The magnetic bit driver accepts standard size bits. The file, pry bar, bottle opener, and utility blade all provide unique functionality for this purpose-built tool.
The MP1 Military MRO Multi-Tool comes with a MOLLE compatible Tan 499 nylon sheath and a 12-piece bit set. This tool is proudly built in Portland, OR.
This is my favorite multi tool. I had a Leatherman wave, but I don't like the screwdriver on that tool. I then switched to the center drive, which I loved until I tried to cut hard wire and the carbide cutters just shattered. The MP1 MRO is perfect. It has the long reaching driver that accepts standard bits. No need to buy special bits to fit. The wire cutters cut all types of wire, included hard wire, wire hangers and other materials that are probably not recommended. The cotter pin puller is a great addition, and can be used in the field to carry hot pots, pull cord to tighten knots and to just get a better grip while carrying certain tools or objects. The serrated blade has a small gut hook type bend at the tip which works perfectly to strip back the outer sheeting on cables. The pliers have great grip, aggressive teeth and can provide lots of torque. The only too on this that I don't like is the file. It's too short, and it's hard to get any type of stroke with it. I would have liked a full size file that maybe opened on the outside, like the blade. There is a small cut out above the cutters in the pliers, that when closed for perfectly around 12 gauge AC wire to strip it with ease. The biggest negative I have about this tool, is the sheath. The hook and loop fasteners have worn out within about 3 weeks. Now it doesn't stay closed. I will have to find a decent after marked one.
Bottom line, being a US Army veteran and working in the motor pool, (I didn't have this tool at that time, although I wish I did) and working in the Telecom industry, I HIGHLY recommend this multi tool. There are other great multi tools out there, but this one fits my needs perfectly.
