I've had two Strongarms, Prodigy and own the original 12C27N Lmf2 and love it. I ended up gifting the Strongarms in 420hc to friends they are awesome knives. 420Hc Gerber heatreat is excellent working steel with a good convex edge its all ya need BUT is a bear to reprofile. This new BDZ1 steel IMHO is the best upgrade I've seen and think Gerber should keep it. I've had mine since the release and I've found that the USA BDZ1 is actually comparable to German 14C28N. It holds a wicked sharp edge and is very easy to sharpen actually just keep it stropped and you won't have to sharpen it. Honestly it feels like a 1095 Carbon yet has the benefits of stainless, this BDZ1 is now one of my favorite steels and I love this Strongarm. The only change I would like is a slightly more filling palm swell, if this knife had the handle swell of my Mora Garberg I'd probably never use another knife. Using gloves with the strongarm is perfect and military guys will love it, Gerber made a wicked knife that is actually an awesome blade to throw if need be. As an all around camp utility knife look no further, I hope they tweak the sheath and grip a bit but other than that its an awesome tool.

The strongarm BDZ-1 is the second strongarm I've purchased. I love these knives and almost everything about them. With the exception of the factory final grinds. Both came reasonably sharp out of the box but with very uneven grinds. Also seems like an excessive amount of blade material was unnecessarily removed in the sharpening process. I wish gerber would take more care in this particular area of the manufacturing of these knives. I love these knives and appreciate the price point at which they are available...you get what you pay for I guess. Maybe I'm just picky. Lol

Love the knife. I had to purchase this knife new from Amazon because Gerber was all out of them. Gerber needs to do something about the sheath for their Strongarm knives because when you are wearing them on your belt it moves around too much. A modification is much needed!

I have a few fixed blade Gerber's from the Strong-arm and a few others . The plain edge model is awesome for any outdoor activities . I have one in the truck ,one with my duty gear and one at home . Now with the upgraded steel I'll have to grab another one . The sheath is great for different carry options . Buy one today and you won't ever go wrong .

I had to get one of these, I have a coyote fine edge Strongarm as well and love it! The blade comes sharp and the steel is so smooth. The sheath on the Strongarm is fantastic and very customization friendly. The Strongarm is easy to mount on a bag, plate carrier, or vest and the sheath is easy to draw from but has enough retention to hold the knife in upside down. Great knife!
