Built for the demands of the tactical user, this knife offers fully automatic deployment, a stealth black oxide-coated 154CM blade, and a 6061-T6 anodized aluminum handle.
Ernie Emerson designed this awesome defender of freedom that offers fully automatic deployment.
Ernie didn't earn his reputation as a tactical knife expert by cranking out crap. He expects Gerber to use only primo materials and components in building his namesake knife, and we do. This knife is configured in such a way as to achieve the speed and might that tactical pros require, while still protecting the user with features like the patent pending safety pin, which prevents accidental deployments.
The black oxide-coated blade is of the 154CM variety, with a Rockwell Hardness rating of HRC 59 to 62. The exotic-looking handle is machined out of 6061-T6 anodized aluminum, which is as hard as it is tactile. And its damned tactile.
Ive had this knife for a little over 2 year carried it every day do all kinds of small jobs with it and i got home from work went to open my knife and the spring broke in it been a good knife for me i will not be buying another one
I was issued this knife when I was in Afghanistan 08-09, and have used it daily ever since. A couple days ago the blade spring broke though. So while it doesn't open automatically (I have to do the wrist flick) it still works fine. Great knife.
I have this knife for a few years and recently I detected a problem with safety pin; it simply doesn´t stay in the safety position.
Can you help me out?
I was issued the Emerson Alliance, last year when my unit was deployed to the mid- east. It was a great knife, while it lasted. The knife wasn't hard to sharpen, I mean I use a knife every day, and every day I ware Our Country's uniform I have my Gerber Multi tool. was proud to have it. But I wasn't a happy camper last week when the blade started to get loose, and I went out to my tool box to tighten the big Allen head screw, up by the blade and I barely put any presser on it and it snapped off. I've got to say not the best engineering that I've seen because it's a big head and maybe only a 1mm stem that go's thru to the other side. I need to contact Gerber and see if they will fix it.
I love gerber knives, and this one is my favorite. The only problem is that you have to tighten the blade screw after using it a lot.
This is my Daily carry knife. I have the older first release version and you cant get me to carry anything else. The safety button helps keep my pocket and hands/legs safe.
Outstanding knife. Quality construction, quality materials and good fit & finish.
This had to be though, to be a US Military Issue Knife. Better than 90% of other Gerber knives.
I found one at a swap meet for $35! Any knife with premium steel is worth $35 but this knife is worth much more because it is GREAT!
Highly recommend this for your use and/or collection.
Mine is a great knife! Love everything about it except the lock. I can't seem to get it to function properly. Going to oil it and see what it does then and send it in for warranty work if it does not function properly still. Also can't seem to find the serial number.
Some of my guys carried all sorts of Gerber knives and was impressed... Hold a great edge sturdy, strong and good looking...now I decided to get a couple for work and hunting..
I have owned a lot of Auto knives over the years. This knife is a well designed cutting tool. A very serious knife for rugged use.
Was issued this knife in as Afghanistan. Great solid knife , nice action, not super fast but quick. I don't like the cross block safety , it is located too close to the firing button and it looks , and feels almost exactly the same. Have to constantly look at the knife make sure I'm pressing the right button.
Had this knife for several years and it is probably the best auto knife that I own. It has seen lots of use while at work. The spring finally gave out after many thousands of opening cycles. Sent it in, came back like new! Great knife, great customer service!
Great knife, I've had this knife for over 6 years and still in great shape and its not to big for the pockets. This will make a great gift.
I've had this knife for several years, and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. the blade holds an edge excedingly well, the weight of the overall knife, and the durability of it is superb. As a US Marine, I'm VERVY hard on my tools, and this little knife takes anything I've thrown at it without flinching.
Recently ordered these (quickly received via stock system). Previous reviewer who said it doesn't try to fly out of your hand like others is 100% on the money. Can hold between thumb and forefinger and press release with same thumb and knife is open and still held by those two fingers! Good size, decent weight, comfortable in the hand. I like this much better than the Benchmade Auto Presidio my last unit issued me which isn't as natural to open without your fingers getting in the way and costs more. The only thing the Presidio has over this knife is you can special order a non-serrated blade. If Gerber would sharpen partially serrated blades it wouldn't be that much of an issue. Still, my initial impression is I LOVE THIS KNIFE!
This knife was issued to me about three years ago and it has since been the best knife I've ever had and believe me I've used them all. Holds and incredible edge.
This is an excellent, hard working knife,I live in a wheelchair(lost both legs)My no.1 protection and I know how to use it!!!Keep up the good work!!!MC
The knife has been excellent. Stays sharp even when put through hell and back. Was issued to me during the 08-09 deployment to Iraq. Busted the spring recently. Just put in a warranty claim a few minutes ago. Curious to see how well Gerber backs up the product. We shall see.
Just got this knife today was bigger than I expected, but that is great since I have big hands. Very nice knife well balanced opens quick. Most automatic knives I've held want to leap out of your hand this knife has the right opening speed and balance to stay put. The saftey is nice and can be kept disingaged if you want to have it ready at a moments notice. Overall very nice knife!
After retiring from US Army, I now work for the City of Houston that this is the most excellent knife I have ever used. It stay sharp no matter what.
I bought mine when they first came out on the market and have carried it in my pocket since 2003. The serrrations have been a plus and minus for me. A plus for cutting through cordage and a minus when sharpening. The spring finally snapped on me last week. For having carried this blade and put it through the ringer for 9 years and the spring just now snapped after the jumps at Fort Bragg and the deployments in the deserts. I couldn't have asked for a better knife.
This is probably the highest quality most durable knife that I've owned. I agree that the serrated part of the blade is more of a pain than a benefit.
I've had my knife for about 3 years and it has functioned at 100%, and the blade has stood up incredibly well
This knife was a life saver when I was in the Army. I agree that it shouldn't be serrated but it got the job done and it can be punished and still perform great.
