Around here the two go hand in hand. Because the truth is, a Gerber isn't a Gerber until it's got a few (or a few hundred) stories under its belt.
From Anonymous Combat Medic, via mail:
I am a soldier deployed to Bosnia/Herzegovina. When I put on my uniform in the morning the Gerber Multipliers goes on my belt and the Gerber Air Ranger goes in my front pocket. The multiplier HAS been used for everything from maintenance on my section's Humvee to repairing medical equipment. The Air Ranger has been used for every thing from cutting a small tree branch to opening my letters at mail call. I must add that it's helpful when eating an MRE. I picked the Multipliers over other such multi tools because of its durability, versatility, and the ability to open it with one hand. I picked the Air Ranger because of its narrow profile and its serrated blade. I was surprised at how fast it is to open with one hand and how sharp it still is after all the use (abuse) I've put it through. I have carried knives twice the price as the Air Ranger but they where never as useful. If you can't get to your knife within 2 seconds of deciding you need one, it's too late. My Air Ranger is usually in my hand and open before I can finish thinking about it.
