The Crucial offers an entire toolbox of full-sized components in one rugged stainless steel package. The handles are ergonomically curved for a better grip and more torque. The liner-locking knife blade is half fine edge and half serrated. Built with a clip and weighing just five ounces, the Crucial can also be carried as an everyday pocket tool.

I was given one as a gift, and really was liking the heavy blade--quick blade lock every time, great for opening heavy boxes, cutting cord and rope, etc.. I had opened the pliers only a couple of times, but weeks later, when I tried to open them and use them, the pliers started to open and then jammed and were locked closed -- wouldn't budge, like a piece of metal had moved in and jammed the pivot joint. I sent them in, and in a few weeks, a new pair arrived. Faster turn-around than I expected. I opened the package, and found the plier joint is loose and the jaws wobble. But worse than that is the knife blade and the strap cutter blade. They don't lock open very reliably. I have to open them hard then they will lock most of the time. But not when I expect them to open and lock -- they will fold in on my hand. Not like the first Crucial tool I had. No cuts. I don't use the tool now, Need to send it in and see if the third time is the charm.
Great tool. Use it everyday will not go back to a simple knife.
For the past 6 months I have been buying knives to use as my EDC. After I stumbled upon this awesome tool I will never go back to a simpl knife. As an EMT the belt cutter And half serrated blade works like a dream. I recommend to anyone looking for a relatively cheap and VERY durable EDC
Great tool....it's got everything you need the knife is razor sharp so is the belt cutter. It's compact and awesome to use. Best multi tool ever.
Just got one after a customer did not return my previous multi tool I had. I have nothing bad to say about it. I like the strap cutter the Knife is 5 star. comfort grip. I use it everyday at work. I will not lend this one out it's a keeper.
I have used mine for about a year. The locking blade is rock solid. The narrow/thin pliers have allowed me to work in tight spaces on my motorcycle.
Suggestion.....Make an "XL" ,larger/longer version. Same features, just bigger. A spring loaded pliers would be great.
This is the greatest! The two greatest things about this tool is the pocket clip, and the tool lock! No more smashed fingers from folding in tools and pocket clip is handy and keeps it out of the way. The only downfall I have noticed is the blade didn't keep its edge and I've only had it for 5 months... And I don't like the blunt tip on the knife either. Overall I'll always have a pocket clip tool instead of a single knife from now on!
This was the first Gerber tool I ever bought. Fell in love instantly. I've since bought other tools, but I I leave this in my glove box for any emergencies. Just wish the pliers were spring-loaded.
I just picked this up in a a combo pack wight the Iris Flashlight (Costco). I am loving this tool I replaced my belt pouch multi tool and my everyday carry knife with this. Less weight to carry and all the same function. Great that you can thumb open the line cutter and the blade with one hand. Gerber Rocks!!!!
Good multi tool, difficult to open, screwdriver liner locks often fail to lock, strap cutter should only require one hand to operate.
I have used this tool for over a year. Mine is not black, but its the same tool as shown. I love the tool, but the belt clip is a weak shame. It really brings down the value of the knife. The screws loosen, and then strip when you try to tighten them up. I ended up taking the clip off and using a pouch that I bought. Still use it everyday, and other than the clip I love it. I would recommend this tool, but save yourself the frustration and use a pouch in the first place.
I had the crucial fast which I used to love. I put the Phillips screwdriver to a hard task and snapped the head off. Gerber replaced quickly with no problems. I was very happy about that. I now carry a bull rush for work. That thing so far has been a tank. No issues so far. It is tough. It is also heavy so I would never carry it in my pocket. (Downside) gerber if you read on the next version of the crucial make it more like a big version of the dime. I love the scissors and tweezers. Please use a tougher steel, a real tanto point, and add tweezers and scissors. I could live without the strap cutter for some scissors. Keep is under 6 oz and you will have a tow EDC tool.
I have had this tool for nearly 2 years now, and still to this day it work beautifully. I use it everywhere, everyday literally! I work in retail right now and using anything else is very unsatisfying.. its small, light and compact.. not having this on me at all time really shapes my mood for the day. I recommend all day!
I received mine with the Evo as a package deal and I love it. Have had no problems with craftsmanship, knife cuts well, strap cutter is beast, and is easier to manage than the larger suspension for example. I'd recommend it to a friend for sure.
I have a shiny chrome color or whatever eatherman and want a black M.T. to be a bit more incognito in the bush. I was considering the Crucial over another Gerber m.t. that Walmart has because the Crucial has a pocket clip and the Walmart one does not. Now, after seeing Tech Coordinators review, I think Ill just find a black Leatherman or SOG.
My biggest issue is with the belt clip. Torx screws get loose and clip falls off. Great multi tool but needs to be better made.
i like this idea, and not only because its ninja stealthy, but it almost combines two of my everyday carry items: the Gerber paraframe and a leatherman skeletool.although a little expensive when price matched to a charge tti, it is still great. first i would titanium the core piece(s) use a paraframe clip or toss on a nite eyes carribeaner because the current clip sucks and honestly the size is almost key ringable
(Weak belt clip)
Let me start by saying I've always been a huge fan of Gerber knives. The knife is a great size and everything on it is just what a man needs for his daily routine. But.... The pliers are wobbly but they are sharp. My biggest issue is with the belt clip. I have had to have this knife replaced twice do to the fact it falls off. My previous gerber knife I had for seven plus years. I always clipped it to the inside of my pants pocket. I never had an issue with that belt clip on that knife. So I know it's not being misused. It's just a puny little clip. fail...
The sleekest design i've ever seen! Iuse strap cutters as 'line cutters and that could come in handy (without hurting a tooth!). Every angler needs one of these in his tackle box...
A bottle opener could come in handy, but not necessary... NEVER DRINK AND FISH...
Great tool. Rugged. The pliers is tough and the wire cutters are sharp and solid (a real test of precision, not found on all other multi tools).
Just imagine what McGuyver could've done with this little jewel; I absolutely love mine, and use it every day.
Gerber does it again.
Another Gerber tool that I can't be without.
Great for work and EDC the strap cutter works like a charm for cutting pallet strapping, The knife is sharp and the blunt tip keeps the HR department happy, pliers are strong and solid, this would be the perfect tool if it incorporated a bottle opener!
I love the look of this, when is it coming to the UK ??!
great tool for edc. the knife was sharp out of the box, the tools are all frame lock, the pliers are strong and the wire cuter works like a char. if i were ever caught in an emergency i would want this toll by my side. overall great tool!
It would be great if you could incorporate a P38 also!
Best looking Gerber so far. Hopefully I win the giveaway. If not, I'm going to buy it, you always need a Gerber in the military.
i pity the fool who ain't got a strap cutter
Great little tool earthing you need in a small, compact package. Would be nice if a O2 key could be incorporated.
