this is one big and heavy knife and quite cumbersome the blade is extremely thick which is good but also adds a lot of weight. good knife over all but my gosh is it heavy. would had been nicer if they added serrations. good knife for money.

This knife is really durable but it is way bigger that you would think it is, and it is to big for practical use. Don't buy unless you want a huge blade.

Good to the bone Mike - NOV 18, 2012
I've used this knife for the past several hunting seasons to split the pelvic bone. It's been through 10 and still holding original sharp edge. No nicks or dings on the blade. I'm extremely happy with this product and highly recommend to anyone who wants a durable knife that will last many years to come.

The knife is a good piece of equipment. Sharp and a really comfortable grip. The sheath on the other hand is an extreme disappointment. I have stopped using the knife because I do not trust the sheath to properly secure my knife while I'm out in the bush. I'm surprised Gerber has not done anything about putting out a better product with all of the bad reviews the sheath keeps getting over and over

Long sad face. ORR - AUG 29, 2012
Bought this blade cuz I fell in love with the design back in the 80's, but didnt buy it then. So when the design was brought back to life again, I just had to have it...and man was I disappointed.Sad replica of the original with plastic grip...not even neopren grip. The blade is placed in the back of my collection, in shame. I ended up getting the original with low serial numbers from Ebay...So Ebay saved my day

I would like to say that the knife itself is an incredible piece of craftsmenship. I bought this blade to defend myself and my family. I did not buy it because i wanted to critique it about the sharpness of the blade or whether the grip was in line or not. The person that comes in the night with the intention of harming your family doesnt care about either attribute. None the less, GERBER, well done on another great product. I guess we Americans are the only ones that can appreciate this fact....

overall it is fine, Feels very very solid, Top quality material, Just looking at it gives you the feeling that this is no ordinary knife, Here is what i didn't expected:
1: Blade not very sharp(the tip is).
2: When i hold it and look carefully at the blade, It seems not in-line with the grip.
Note that these problems i encountered could be an easy fix under warranty if you live in the USA, Unlike over here(Saudia Arabia) where i havn't came across a store called GERBER.. Not once, I don't even know how this knife found me, I came across it in a hardware store, bought it right away, came home and did some research about this new mysterious brand, and i say mysterious coz over here if you're looking for top-quality knife you'll end up with a German-made one, For some reason US-made ones are no good here.

Love this blade, there are no pictures that show it but it is a very good tool for the money. But to be blunt the sheath is a piece of crap and I would love to have a better one the knife rattles around inside the one provided but hey for the price you cant beat it. If there was a better sheath five stars

I bought this knife last year and I have obtained very good results from it.It holds a good edge and has good balance.the handle grip feels like it was a custom fit for my hand.It has enough heft to do a good job clearing small branches and brush like a s
