EVO, Ti-Coated - Fine Edge
The EVO is a lightweight, straight-spined clip folder. Designed with a series of seven slanting oval openings in the anodized aluminum handle, it’s one of the lightest folding knives that Gerber makes. The fine-edge blade is constructed of 440 stainless steel and is coated with titanium nitride for added corrosion resistance. There's a thumb stud for easy one-handed opening, and a liner lock and finger guard for an extra measure of safety. It’s a modern version of a traditional straight spine knife.

I got this knife today. When I first opened it I was surprised at how light the knife was. It was a little hard to open but once I opened it I found that it was very sturdy and felt very good in my hand. I've only used it a couple times but it is great so far!
This knife has been through hell with me and it shows it. I use it so much in the kitchen for my job that I end up sharpening it 2x a day. My only complaint with the knife is the materials used, I'd sell my benchmade 943 if gerber would build the evo out of similar materials. Its just a better design and simpler to use one handed
best knife I've ever owned an everyday carry for the past five years, pocket clip keeps the knife where you put it . the only knife I've kept in my pocket long enough to wear the knife out from actual use and not lose it in the dirt somewhere. i wish the blade had harder steel like some D2. but non the less a thin, fast opening, extremely well designed, sharp and affordable pocket knife.
I have had this knife for over 5 years. I use it for countless jobs on and off duty. I carry it so much the black has worn off the handle so its mostly silver now. I have used it to jimmy locks, pry windows, break windows, cut everything you can think of. this knife has far outlasted much more expensive knives i have owned. This and a Gerber multitool are with me everywhere i go!!
Simply the best knife I have ever owned, used or seen. If I only had one knife for the rest of my life it would be this one. Always sharp, easy to maintain, fast and easy to open, perfect size and weight for everyday use and above.
Have had this knife for years and love it. This little guys takes and holds edges better than
more expensive blades. Mine has gone through the ringer and looks rough but still functions perfectly.
This is a very honest review, I have had this knife 2 years it was my edc it holds a edge well when you first get it but it won't stay sharp after a while and needs a weekly sharpening, the screws on mine have gotten pretty loose on the scales on on the handle but it is a very nice feeling knife in hand and is very easy to open, it sometimes comes open in my pocket randomly which pokes me but not that big of a deal but, ya change the steel and get better screws and it is a great knife, worth the price
I bought 3 of these. One for me, one for my son (Army Ordnance) and one for his GF (Army Aviator). Solid, no-nonsense knife. Quick opening and rugged, great finish on the blade and it has a good feel in the hand. Handle provides a good grip.
As I grew up I got a new knife for my birthday every year (since I'm kinda rough on them and I would usually break the clip for destroy the blade). I got this knife on my 18th birthday as a gift, and I still carry it today (5 years later) and it is still a fantastic knife. There is some wear on the metal, but the blade has kept its edge and nothing has broken on it. It still opens smoothly and it works great for all of my needs.
This is a great knife. I've always bought only Gerber knives, and plan to continue to do so. This is my 2nd of these. I lost the 1st 1, but loved it so much I bought another exactly like it.
*@ T. Wiegman, if you have a bench vise, wrap a paper towel around the knife, clip and all(avoid scratching) and place it where the vise clamps on the bend where it screws on to the knife. I've had to do this a couple times over the past year with mine, and it works perfectly, just be careful with pressure.
I'm still in love with this knife. I bought my first when the blades were 3.375" and loved it. Lightning fast, razor sharp, and feather light. After 3 years of carry it showed little sign of wear. Then I dropped it in a swamp. So I bought a new and 'improved' 3.5" model and was not as impressed. Out of the box the blade's finish was worn, the blade was not sharpened to a point. Like, the tip of the blade was almost blunt. I find myself resharpening it often but I use it often. I cut open boxes full of fasteners at work, between the cardboard, metal shavings, and bolts, I think it holds up quite well considering all of this.
All in all, I love this knife. I should buy a couple more just to have on hand in case they ever get discontinued.
I have had this knife for 4 years or so and absolutely love it. I love that it is easy to open, and the slim design clips very nicely in the pocket without taking up much room. I cannot seem to get this knife to hold an edge, but it is a great everyday blade nonetheless.
This knife is a great knife it's sharp when you get it the bad part is it can open in your poket
The best knife I have ever had, this thing has lasted through years of camping, the outdoors, and everything else I throw at it! I carry it almost all the time, and it has never let me down. Its comfortable to carry and extremely lightweight for its size, just as advertised. It's also very easy to open and close using the flipper and liner-lock.
My only qualm is with the clip, as I've accidentally bent it when it caught on something outside my pocket, and it was quite a pain to fix. But really other than that, you can do anything to the knife and this will take it with no problem.
I recommend this knife to anyone who wants a knife that can do its job in ANY environment (and even look pretty good during it!).
This is by far the best knife I have ever owned, I just love it. It is extremely light and easily opened with one hand. I put it in my pocket with the clip over the outside of the pocket then go all day and can’t tell it is even in there. This is the first knife I have had that I can have in my pocket and it does not bother me. At this great price I carry it every day.
knife has been through everything from cutting thin sheet metal to rope to cardboard and about anything else. even used to short a starter on a dozer. knife has never let me down been lost and in the weather for over 6 months a little oil and she was back to new. finally lost a few screws out of it and had to retire it after 4 years of being rode hard and put up wet.
There when you need it! I have carried the EVO II on my turnout gear for sometime now, and have used it from cutting seat belts at car accidents to cutting away wire from HVAC ducts when it got tangled on my gear. It truly has taken a lot and given back more....the design is light weight and easy to keep clean after a fire as well as the one hand operation even with a pair of gloves on is easy. WELL worth the price and now have other firefighters in my company carrying them. Thanks GERBER..
I have put this knife through so much, saltwater in Florida to snow here in Indiana, and it still works. I've dropped it while biking and ran over it with a car, and it still works. I've taken it to every material from bread to rock, and it's still sharp. This is the perfect knife to carry on an every-day campout or week in the woods.
Overall, a very good quality knife for the price. The folks who say they can't get it razor sharp don't know how to do it. I can shave with mine!
Just found one stuck in the webbing of a hammock where I was camping this weekend, Eastern Sierra's. Sharpened it, oiled it and now it sits in the tank bag of my motorcycle!! A very nice find.
Bought this knife because I got into one of those "i need to buy something manly" at cabelas a few months ago. the size of the knife is not..well.."manly". but it serves its purpose for its price. just like you wouldnt leave the house without your wallet, phone, or keys, this knife goes with me wherever. like other reviews, i havent been able to keep the blade RAZOR sharp, but sharp enough to cut boxes, tape, etc.
This is my second knife from Gerber. It has never been the killer or the utility knife of choice but it is the one that I will never be caught with out. It is perfect because it is small, light, sharp, and durable. Always there, always ready and always capable of any job you give it. It is truly a great knife!
I've carried this knife in my pocket everyday for about 3 years. Its one of my favorite knives in my large collection. Its super light weight, but feels very solid and comfortable. When opened, the blade is solid and does not wiggle at all. Its low profile makes it fit comfortably in my pocket. When I bought the knife, the edge wasn't very sharp, I have sharpened it dozens of times, but I've never been able to get it razor sharp, like other knives I own. Nonetheless, its a great everyday/outdoor knife.
I have had this knife for close to five years and used it almost everyday its held up fantastic.
Now that ive broken in and oiled up the knife, i can flick it open with only the movement of my index. Ive been asked several times if its spring loaded...
Fantastic knife! Bought the evo at Academy Sports for $30 dollars and I am very impressed with the quality. The very sleek and lightweight design is perfect for my needs. I'm a boy scout so the knife has seen a lot of use for about 2 years and what im most impressed with is that the finish is in perfect condition still.
i purchased the serrated version and im very happy with it an all around good knife
