Covert FAST - Black, Serrated
The Covert F.A.S.T. combines the classic Applegate-Fairbairn design with the ease and speed of F.A.S.T. technology. It delivers one-hand opening for quick deployment of the titanium-coated blade and G-10 handles give you a tacky grip. Full-sized handle for a sturdy grip.

I've had this knife for two years now, and it's come in handy a bunch of times. It's sturdy, slim, has a resounding click when the blade engages, and it's a damn sharp blade. My only worry is that I've had a friend who had the same knife and he said the spring mechanism failed on him rendering the F.A.S.T tech useless. So far mine kicks pretty hard and hopefully for the rest of the time I own it
I can believe this knife! screws came out of the handle after very little use. Gerber needs to take this thing off the market because its junk!!
When I first purchased the Covert it was dull as a pair of kid's safety scissors. But after I sharpened it everything was better! The little knife has preformed admirably throughout all the crap I throw at it. I would give this a 5 star rating but the out of the box performance was terrible. Seriously Gerber, if I spend $70 on a knife at least make sure it's sharp!
I was a little surprised when first opening the knife. The FAST mechanism was loud and makes a screech noise. It opens fine and the lock seems operable. The blade steel is not identified in the knife's description. I am not sure of the type of blade steel but it isn't of high quality. It sharpens fine but you're not going to achieve the scary sharp edge you may want. I do like the knife and keep it in my off duty go bag.
I can't believe Berger put it's name behind such a poorly made product.
The blade was wobbly from the start, the lock button CAN accidentally be dislodged causing the blade to fold into your fingers and... the little handle screws came off !! the handle is lose...
needless to say a piece of crap
pretty bad product from gerber, i cant believe they put their name on this thing....
This is a great blade. The assisted opening is very smooth and it locks in place very securely, feels like a fixed blade. The blade steel seems to be of very high quality, penetrates plyboard with ease. I love the G-10 handle, it provides a secure and comfortable grip. Very well balanced also, just a great blade all around.
I just got mine and although it seems like a very nice knife with an excellent design and even pretty good quality, it's made in china and I mistakenly thought it was made in U.S.A, thus, I will be returning this communist piece of sh*t.
knife blade is really loose, very slop and poor built knife, not the gerber we all know and love...probably because its not made in the USA
Another amazing knife from Gerber no surprise there. I have no complaints about The Covert F.A.S.T. but 1 thing that confused me is that I thought both sides where sharpened like a dagger but I wasn't that disappointed when I got it. All in all it’s a great knife. ☺
I just got this knife yesterday and already using it. great job Gerber you guys are doing great.
Awesome knife for the price. And great feel in the hand.Feels and fits better the the overpriced Infidel.Just one problem. The wimpy spring broke within the handle,so I installed a heavier gauge wire extension spring.Works even better now.Overall a great EDC,and would buy anothern if needed.Good work Gerber!
this knife if great there's not much bad except i left it in my shed for a week and the blade had a bit of rust on it but its fine.
You have probably just broken your knife, but this might help.
In order the open the Covert F.A.S.T. you have to slide the thumb switch into the red position. Then simply push with your thumb on the spur that is located at the base of the blade.
Cuts rope like butter.
I have had this knife for about 12 months. Love it. Its very sharp and keeps the edge pretty good, havent had to sharpen it yet. It opens smoothly and the black finish holds up well. I carry it in my back pocket every day. The only complaint is the screws coming lose, i have lost 2 of them and Im in the process of getting some from Gerber. Other than that I think its a great knife
I really like this knife but I've trouble with the screws coming loose. Over a two year period I've had to send it back for warranty due to the screws coming loose twice. But I have to complement Gerber warranty service as the first time the knife was repaired at no cost and returned and the second time the knife was replaced. If the knife would hold up and not need warranty service I would rate it five stars!
I think the people who carry this knife over-seas in the war and elsewhere should be a testament to Gerber itself... We carry this knife and it serves us well, under harsh and strained conditions. I like this knife... and it served ME well. Cheers Gerber.
I've had this knife for a while and it has held up nice. Easy one handed opening and easy to sharpen. Love it
is a good knife , sharpens easy, good tool, and great for whitewater stuff. you can use it for any thing but the screws come out way to easily.
I carried this knife for 6 months, the lock failed during use and almost cut my index finger off.
I carried this knife and used it every day in Afghanistan. Held up well, quick to sharpen, very handy. I still carry it 3 years later and it never fails. Thanks Gerber.
I love the knife design and the fact that it is an assisted opening knife, but the latch that holds the knife open is this pathetic 1x2mm little piece of steel that seems incredibly flimsy. And to top it off, this knife is $70 and it is made of 440A steel, which is very low end steel for this price. Alot of $25 knives I buy are made of 8Cr13MoV, and the same company sells $60 knives with 14C28N Sandvik. Come one Gerber...
Bought this knife today at a local retailer. I am very impressed by the quality! I have owned Gerber knives and multi-tools in the past and have never had a problem. Thanks for a great and fairly priced product. If you are on the fence about buying one, do it. You won't regret it!
Have had this knife now for about 5 months! Great knife, good quality, awesome price! Starting at the top, this knife has a nice long blade. Its a bayonet so perfect for stabbing and cutting! The blade holds up well with the black coating, but when cutting metal (tine can) the blade was scratched and had little white marks on it. Can be removed alittle just by rubbing. The blade has not needed much sharpening but i have done it a few times. The serrations are showing just alittle bit of wear with no sharpening. The blade shoots out smoothly and there is not much blade play when open. Closed however, the blade clicks against the handle. Cant fix it even with tightening. The handle can be tightened using a torque screwdriver. Overall, if you need a good EDC knife, and spring assist, go for it!
Form the reports of others, they are sharing some of the same problems with this knife. The safety latch is jamming.
Does it have a clip?
Well, oiling helped with spring sound problem. Thanks, great knife
Well, it's a good knife. Assisted, serrated... You can't stop to open this knife to enjoy the sound it makes. But after 200 openings thee spring became to tinkle. The knife still works great, but it's very annoying. Maybe oil will help
great knife,f.a.s.t works great,in any weather .as far as cutting ur finger off don't buy knives.
in order for it to work right ya gotta have the safety off. i got mine and ya work the blade just a little back and forth it'll loosen it right up but be careful closing it. lol almost cut the top half of my finger off a couple times in. really sharp blad
Just purchased & rec'd the Covert F.A.S.T (Black, Serrated), & I like this knife. However, the knife does not open until I pry it from the handle. Got a solution? Can only rate this a 1 star until it works as advertised.
