Bear Grylls Compact Fire Starter
Surviving the unexpected is about being prepared, and the Bear Grylls Compact Fire Starter exceeds the standard. Few people know more about survival than Bear Grylls, ex-British Special Forces officer, experienced mountaineer and respected survival trainer. Taking advantage of Gerber’s decades of experience and Bear Grylls’ adventure knowledge, the Compact Fire Starter design gives its user a necessary boost in getting a fire going in a survival scenario.
IDEAL SURVIVAL MATE
A key factor to surviving in the wild is the ability to build a fire. With the Compact Fire Starter in a pocket or attached to a keychain or backpack, maintaining constant access to fire-starting potential is a cinch. Combining a sleek new design with a smaller size, the Compact Fire Starter offers itself as an ideal survival mate without adding unnecessary bulk to the daily carry essentials.
SIMPLE AND FUNCTIONAL
Working in the cold or wearing gloves won’t inhibit use of the Bear Grylls Compact Fire Starter with its simple, 2-piece design. Produce high quality fire-starting sparks using the easy-grip ferrocerium rod when it matters most. Made of durable anodized aluminum with a textured rubber grip, the Compact Fire Starter withstands abuse and still offers easy utility. seems cool but wont buy until bear uses this product and endorses it however i plan to buy all his lineup anyway
But I love going hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. This knife and its Fire starting flints and a knife sharpener that has all the tools and survival equipment and that's very good to know when ur in the woods. I won't ever leave home with out it!!! Lol
just ordered one
if it was just a bit bigger i would buy it
it seems like the older version was smarter you had a compartment to hold tinder in and both pieces were attached so if something happened you wouldn't lose half of the tool. the older version also seems to have a bigger piece of flint. this is a good product but in my opinion you should make the next one more like the first one just better somehow
This compact fire starter works great and is much easier to stow away in a pocket than the previous model!
Gerber should make a Fire Piston for their 2015 Bear Grylls line-up. This compact ferrocerium rod fire starter looks very similar to a fire piston, so it wouldn't take a lot of design change to engineer one. It would make for an excellent new fire starter for their next collection. Or just make a Bear Grylls magnesium bar. Either one would be a great idea even if a ferrocerium rod is much easier to start a fire with. I would still buy either one! Just an idea!
Very nice and lightweight, has a great spark and is very easy to start a fire with. the aluminum sheath is very heavy duty and the smallness of it makes it very easy to pack. Overall 5/5 for performance, dependability, ergonomics and style.
i just got and have already started making big fires love it thx gerber
Like the fire starter don't like the price. :(
don't have it but i would love to get it
