I used to be a faithful Leatherman fanatic until one of my colleagues bought me this powerhouse. There's too many good things to say about this tool. In my line of work, we come across all kinds of things ranging from animal processing (ear tagging, drawing blood etc), vehicle and gear maintenance, and general first aid-I have used my new gerber for ALL of these scenarios and it has never disappointed. My previous Leatherman was nice, but the handiness and versatility of the Gerber MP 600 Pro Scout definitely overshadows it.

I also appreciate that Gerber offers a Lifetime Warranty on their products and that they are made here in the USA.

My only regret is that I can't purchase more for my entire team (us wildlifers don't exactly make a bunch of cash....but we love what we do).

Thanks Gerber for an outstanding product that I can count on for years to come.

When the Kids got me my first one, I though it a bit to big, being used to carrying Swiss Army knives. I was wrong, you don't notice it is on your belt and it sure does a lot more. My first one fell overboard while fishing, I had to get another right away! I just misplaced my second and had to order another one. When I went to use it and it wasn't in the Sheath it was as bad as going for your wallet and finding it isn't there.

A great tool - I carried an older, simpler model for my first years on the job and then upgraded to the 600. I agree with the comments about the sheath, and I solved the problem by inserting the 600 upside down - then the tip doesn't wear a hole in the bottom. I would suggest a slight redesign of the sheath to allow "tip-up" storage

I got mine while on my ship in the Navy. I had it for about 15 years and was the BEST tool i had. I say had because I just lost it a few days ago. Such a huge personal lose for me. Thank you Gerber you are awesome!!

Great tool. Have had it for several years now. The only weakness of this tool is it's sheath. Wish they came with the leather sheaths like my first ever 20 year old gerber multi-tool did!

Had a similar model to this I've carried for 10+ years on the ambulance. Had some chips in the knife blade and can opener. Sent in for repair. I guess they don't make that specific model anymore so, what the hell, Gerber just up and sent me a brand new one. Awesome multi-tool and great customer service.

I've gone through three of these. That sounds bad. It's not. I didn't even send the ones I broke for warranty service because they all had performed so many amazing feats so many times before I broke them attempting the impossible! lug problem....spokes yup....tamper proof 3/8 bolts, chains....I've screwed, cut pried, twisted, opened, all kinds of stuff with these things! Chuck, you're not alone. I'm wearing mine right now and I've been at home relaxing for a few hours now... Gerber, Please don't ever discontinue this model. The remgrit blade is awesome! Any way you'll sell me parts and a disassembly tool?

I loved my 600. had it for over 6 years. It never let me down. Unfdortunately the sheath did, and I lost it. You really need to step up the quality of that sheath,m it doesn't do the tool proper justice.

Had one of these for 10+ years and used it often. I found the strong sharp knife blade and the scissors to be the best features. Far superior to the cheap blades in swiss army and leatherman tools. Have the extra bits for it too which are compatible to most removable bit screwdrivers. Only reason I'm here shopping now for a new one is because it got stolen. I got a lot of compliments on that tool from my colleagues. I might try a different model now that they have so many but wanted to say that the high quality of this tool is the reason I'm not even considering replacing it with anything but another Gerber.

Rarely does a day go by that I don't reach for this tool. I have it on my right side in a carrying case and feel naked when it's not on my belt. Great all-around tool! I don't, however, seem to be able to find a replacement sheath/carrying case.

This is the BEST multi-tool ever. I own 2 of them, and I am thinking about buying a third, just to put away for the future. I pick GERBER over LEATHERMAN any day.

First gerber multitool was nothing more than awesome but somehow I lost it(it was military model). I've been looking for replacement for a while and I found this pro scout model first impression was build quality was dramatically dropped than what I used have and as other review I really don't like new blade design.
Over all its nice tool but for the same money I will buy leatherman instead gerber.

Great tool over all but Gerber changed the knife blade. Its not whats pictured.

The new blade is as useless as possibly could be, wont hold an edge long and the serrations. The knife is too short to have both plain edge and serrations. Give us TWO blades one plane edge and the other just serrated. Look at what leatherman did with the "Wave"

I bought this tool when I was about ten years old in the Boy Scouts. I Saved my allowance for months to buy it. I am 23 now, and just recently lost it. I am actually kind of devastated. This tool was so durable, dependable, and fun to use. It went through so much abuse, and looked like brand new. I'm buying another one as soon as I bet back from AIT this coming summer. I love Gerber Products, and will never own another brand of knife or multi-tool.

The Gerber has been on my hip for over 20 years . A rare and incredible working mans tool . When i have to be without it (commercial flights ) i feel a bit naked .
Regardless, it has been all over the world with me (including north of the arctic circle and as far south as Antarctica )

ive had one of these knives since i was about eight years old, im fifteen now and i use mine all the time from opening boxes to chopping two inch thick tree limbs. gerber knives are great for the price. its a great knife. holds a edge good. the only thing i would change it to offer it without the serrated blade and have just a strait blade ( just for the sake of sharpening) its a great knife that will outlast you.

best multi I have ever owned, however, the over complicated and unesssessary ratchet type mech of the flik is absolutely horrible. After 14 years of abusive service only the spring for the scissors have failed. 2 days after my 1st "flik" the ratchet mech of the pliers have failed...2nd pair lasted a whole 3 months b4 failure. keep em simple

I bought one of these when they 1st came out nearly 2 decades ago, and out of all the tools similar to it, this is without a doubt the best tool I have ever owned. Up until it was "liberated" it had made several trips to Antarctica, as well as numerous trips around the globe. I've tried others, and nothing compares to relability, ease of use, and overall quality.

The one I got in the military came with a sheath that would hold the tool and a mini-mag lite. Awesome combo!! Gerber can't be beat!! Quality, durability and reliability all rolled into one. I still have it on my side everyday, its been at least 10 years and going strong!! Gerger Tools ROCK!

I've had my multi-tool for about 8 years. As stated in previous reviews, this is the only brand multi-tool I'll ever own. I've seen other brands being used and have watched as they pinch fingers, slip, and just disappoint in design and performance. I'm a proud Gerber patron.

I have had my multi-tool for about 17 years and it has never let me down. I work in the emergency services field, professionally, and am in to camping and hunting in my spare time. The 14 tools this has, have been utilised in a 1000 different ways.
THIS is the only one for me. Accept no subsitutes.

I have had my tool for over 15 years and it has been abused, from going to work EVERY day with a mechanic (for the first 5 years) to going hunting every year for the total 15, it has held up amazing! It has well outlasted any leatherman product I've been given.

I've had this tool since initial SERE school and it's still going strong. I've carried it through the mountains in every Season and used it almost everyday since I bought it July, 2005. So many times I only had one hand and that's no problem for this tool
