This light, everyday carry multi-tool gets an unexpected upgrade with professional-grade tools that are reliably tough. Made of stainless steel and available in multiple colors, this tool has precise needle nose pliers and 8 other components secured in a convenient butterfly style.
Meet the tough but light Crucial. With professional-grade components of precise needle nose pliers along with eight other carefully selected features, this everyday carry essential multi-tool belongs to the ever-diverse, ever-popular series of Gerber multi-tools.
PREPARED FOR ACTION
The Crucial steps right up to respond to the surprise hurdles life springs so routinely. It offers the partially serrated blade and the Phillips and flat drivers, all of which are liner locking for safe application, to tackle the business end of daily snags. Use the partially serrated blade to make short work of rope cutting or package opening, and tighten down loose screws around the house, the office, or out on a work site with the Phillips or flat head screwdrivers.
COMPACT BUT NOT DAINTY
In addition to the knife and screwdrivers, the Crucial contains a nicely long pair of needle nose pliers, a bottle opener, V-cut wire cutters, a carabiner clip, and an ingenious pocket clip, making this tool the shrewdest of daily carries. The handles of the tool are ergonomically curved for a solid grip and increased torque. Beautifully incorporating its precise assortment of tools within the unobtrusive, 3.5-inch frame, the slim, lean Crucial lets you face trouble without fear.
Great multi tool. I work mine hard. It sees use everyday. As stated in other review - the pliers work well - a feature not found on many multi tools.
Mine had trouble with a screw that fell out. Gerber made it right and had a replacement in my hands within a week! Outstanding service and outstanding tool! Thanks Gerber!
Best multi tool I have ever owned Ive owed a bunch of them in my life this is the best one out of all of them I use the phillips head the most its never let me down I've put it to its test.
Great tool and compared to the Skeletool it is amazing at the price point. I love the blade, it flips out nice and easy and the pliers are easy to open as well, but lock in nice and tight.
Overall very happy with my purchase over a year ago and it has held up to travels all over the globe. The only complaint is that the belt clip screws have become stripped and I need to send it back for warranty repair.
Other than that, it has been awesome.
Fits in pocket great with the clip. One hand opening is AWESOME. I use this all the time at work and glad I got it for a good price also.
The bat clip is amazing
Just lost mine after 3 years, really bummed. Used it for everything from cutting concrete to eating oatmeal. Great for fixing electrical plugs and removing fishhooks. I love that it is almost as good as a Leatherman, but actualy fits in your pocket(after the clip fell off) and thus is 10 times more useful.
disappointed with the standard slot screwdriver broke with normal use, far from anything other than tightening down should never have failed also, the philips head driver not really able to use for any type of minor repair
Love my Gerber Crucial! I recently got it and it works well when I'm at my cottage, fishing and helping out at friends/familys farms! LOVE IT!
I have owned this tool for several years. The quality is great. The best wire cutters on a multi-tool I have used. I do wish they would redesign the belt clip. 2 tiny screws into the aluminum body don't hold up well. Despite this fact I can't deny of the many I have carried this one is the best of the compact size.
I love the Gerber Crucial. I carry it every single day and night. It is a handy size, lightweight, and I love the pocket clip. On the farm here it is......well......"CRUCIAL." It is great for bending fence wire, cutting twine on hay bales, and the bottle opener works perfectly, allowing me to relax with a "cold one" at the end of the day. Heck, I bought a couple of extras to have on hand just in case I were to misplace my primary Crucial!
I have had the tool for 2 years and have abused it on stripped screws, opened cans with the serrated blade, and even used it as a hammer. This tool has yet to fail me. I have not had any trouble with the clip like some people.
love the knife, but I have had 2 that the screws in the clips have stripped out. Engineers need to design the clips screws a little more sturdy
For an IT guy this is perfect...however I also have had problems with the pants clip.
I have had this tool for about 1 and a half years. I use it for minor things but have it with me always, kind of like you carry your favorite knife. The tool itself gets used very little but had been there when I need it. The hassle though is that I just requested a replacement of the pants clip (Something most pocket knives have) for the THIRD time. They are so thin, they break easily just by taking it in and out of my pockets. The tool should come with a supply of them.
My favorite Gerber MT.
I bought this tool a couple of years ago and used it through graduate school. I still carry it in the lab where I work today. The clip piece came off at a conference. Gerber was quick to send me a replacement part.
The blade stays sharp when cutting whatever (drywall, cooling hoses, boxes, PCB boards, oranges); the pliers are the right size for anyone who has worked with electronics, and the handle is hard enough to hammer with.
Recently lost this tool after two years. Great tool..
The caribiner thing is a bottle opener. ( Matt- Long Time Gerber User) Fooled me for months.
Will replace lost one with same. Loved it.
The item looks nice, but one of the locks broke off within a few weeks of opening the package. It actually fell of just from opening and closing the tool repeatedly, without any serious usage.
I have the Crucial Fast and use it everyday, everyone at work that see's it ends up buying one. Only problem is that the locking and unlocking thumb mech fell off somewhere in and attic. I've emailed Gerber and hope to hear from them soon.
Got one for in the boat and one for camping. Great tool very useful and handy. Solid construction and it looks great!
My Crucial was a gift that I've had for approximately 5 months now, and I've carried it everyday. So far the the thumb stud on the blade has become very loose, the belt clip has popped off, and the blade has needed resharpening twice. I'll be sending it back to Gerber shortly for repair. Othe than that it's a pretty neat little tool. Could use some better quality materials though.
This is an ideal combination of tools to carry in your pocket. I can't even count how many times a day this thing is useful.
The knife blade is fantastic - very thick and sturdy unlike all other multi-tools. One handed opening is a snap, thanks to the over-sized blade button.
It works great and it is very comfortable in your hand.
I got this for fathers day.
Love the size.
This is a good all around tool, but does nothing great. I use all the time for a quick fix, in my office, my farm, fishing,etc...
I dont understand the carbiner clip or whatever that this as a fold out tool, would have wished for a bigger/better screwdriver.
Pocket clip broke within 1 week, after 18 months(or so) the phillips and the pliers recently broke. In for warrenty repair, I guess.
oh yeah well I've had mine for several months and use the pliers and knife all the time at work and it has done great to me so far..
and i have it clipped on my pocket with no problem everyday.
its not quite a 5 cause for the size i thought it may have a few more uses but whatever
I experienced the same thing as Mr. Godiska.. I got so disappointed that I almost wanted to return it or throw the whole thing away... Why would you incorporate plastic in an all metal device? And in such a crucial part? What if the whole plastic thing broke? The whole device would eventually fall apart ! Come on. guys,, you're better than this...
Received as Christmas present
the screws for the belt clip were stripped and the clip falls off.
Other than that it's a great design.
I purchased this item as a gift, and within 5 minutes a piece of plastic that is supposed to assist in the closing of the pliers broke. This looks to be a design flaw. Perhaps the piece in question should be made out of another material.
Otherwise, it is a nice tool.
