Overall an excellent MP frame design and I really hate to see it discontinued.
What I think would have really helped is a few changes to the tool selection.
First,I do wish Gerber would return to the traditional clip point blade for the plain edge, and the sheep foot on the serrated blade which they used previously in the MP line.
In place of the silly industrial driver/ruler there should have been a wood saw.
The can opener design off the MP600 is worlds better than the one they used on the freehand.
The scissors are nice, but would rather have a wood/metal file.
Maybe a blunt nose version would allow a frame redesign allowing longer, more functional drivers/can opener etc..
Bigger multi-pliers are ver wanted nowadays by people for their jobs and as a every-day-carry, and there are few of them in the market yet. I think that Gerber missed a great opportunity to conquer that market not putting in its Freehand a big saw blade, a big file (with metal saw also if possible) and carbide cutters, biggers than every another multitool in the market.
Or for what do you think that people need a big multi-tool, if not to have BIGGER tools?
The Freehand is one of the bests multi-tools, but Gerber could make it the best easily and didn't, why?
I love Gerber pliers, I have 3 of them, but I will buy these model immediately if this plier have the Carbide Cutter Insert, for me that insert is what made Gerber plier the best.
Fantastic tool biggest multi-tool ever - love it!! My job is fix problems on ship and shore and tools is always with me and ready to fix most any issue that comes up. Another Gerber homerun.
