Covert - Double Bevel 154CM, Black, Serrated
Colonel Rex Applegate, with over 40 years of knife design experience, is legendary in the world of hand-to-hand combat. The Applegate-Fairbairn family of knives rank as lasting symbols of the Colonel’s dedication, expertise, and sense of purpose, earning international status as best-of-class amongst folding tactical knives. Based on the classic Applegate-Fairbairn fixed knife, the Covert is a 3/4 scale, pocket clip version of the Gerber original Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder. The Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert knife, like all of our military knives and tools, is built in Portland, Oregon, USA.
CLASSIC TACTICAL FOLDER FOR MODERN USE
A totally relevant knife for today’s deployed military, the Covert folder’s powerful design is highly adaptive for storage due to its being a folding knife, while the blade, when extended, provides the same strength as a fixed blade knife. The patented blade lock lever, a secondary manual locking system, can be flipped into place with the thumb as it presses into the hilt of the handle, and prevents the open blade from closing on the hand of the operator for absolute confidence in its use. Clip the folder to MOLLE-equipped gear, slide it into a pocket, suspend it from a belt; this knife can accompany its operator through any conflict.
PERFECTLY BALANCED PERFORMANCE
With a 3 ¾ inch double bevel partially serrated blade made of 154 CM stainless steel, the Covert folder is an elegant close-quarter conflict knife. The blade’s titanium nitride coating provides low visual signature, its face etched with the Applegate and Fairbairn signatures. Dual thumb studs allow for easy one-hand opening of the folder. Featuring a patented secondary blade locking system, a grooved glass-filled nylon handle, and a stainless pocket clip, the Applegate-Fairbairn Covert folding knife looks and feels as impressive and beautifully balanced as its name suggests.

Great knife, my friend and soldiers knew that I collected knives.
They presented it to me my last day in Bagram AFB, before I was further evaded , through Europe and the US.
It was the best folding knife I had ever had, obviously tainted by it being a gift of thank you from my friends and soldiers saying their good bye.
Unfortunity someone needed it more than I . It was one of the best Gerber products I ever had.

The craftsmanship that went into this knife is extremely poor. First time taking it out of the box and opening it, it was obvious that the blade is not straight in relation to the handle. The blade opens a few degrees too far, and with a 4 inch blade its pretty obvious. Also, the center plastic in the back of the handle is chipped. I returned this knife to their warranty dept. with detailed descriptions of these issues and they simply mailed it right back. Same knife, same problems, and not even a simple phone call to ask for any clarification. Gerber makes some good products, but this is NOT one of them!
The signatures on the blade.... uh uh.
I have had my knife now for about 10 years and 5 deployments, this is perhaps the one tool I depend upon more than any other. great knife.
bought this knife in afganistan. its a very good knife for the price. i look forward to buying the automatic model
Does anyone know the HRC on Gerber's 154CM?
I've had this knife for almost 8 years - just lost it a week ago. I'm pissed about it too - this is the best knife I have ever had. It stood up to everything I ever asked it to do.
I bought it 12 years ago from the local px.although the years have past the blade is still nicely sharpened. It is a fantastic knife.
I grew up with my Dad owning all the original Applegate Fairbarin books on Close quarter combat. I have dreamed of owning one of there Knife designs since I was a boy. I not only love this blade, but I now only swear by Gerber products. You truly set the bar for tactical, and practical gear. I will carry Gerber products forever. Best regards
great utility knife and though i am inexperianced in sharpaning it does well in my attempts
i love using this while i work, great at cutting cables and everything else i need it for, i love the feel of the knife and i fell in love with the inner lock seeing as i have never owned a knife with a lock like this one. blade was nicely sharpened when i bought mine at the local px. comes in handy. i recomend this knife highly.
Excellent blade! I bought this about a year ago and I use it at home and in the field. Works excellently! it comes decently sharp but when I gave a it quick sharpening it was perfect. Very versatile. I have used it for personal defense as well as box cutting. Highly recommend!
I have had this knife for 3 years now and I would say that this knife is the best one I have ever owned. The Pros: (1) it's beautful - It has nice clean lines and a solid feel. I have not gotten tired of looking at it. (2) the liner lock - I do not have any fear of the blade closing on my fingers. When it is locked open, it feels like a fixed blade. (3) Nice grippable handle - The handle is made of a nice easy to hold material.
The Con - The clip loosens a bit too easily. I think that this may be normal for a knife I carry everyday. I have tightened it a bit with more tension.
GET IT!!! You won't regret it. :-)
Bought one of these in the Clothing Sales store. Although I am not a fan of folding knives, I have to say that this knife is changing my mind. It is SOLID when it is open. There is no play in the blade, no wiggle in the handle and the double locking feature lets me know that the blade won't close up across my fingers.
I bought one of these at the base exchange and can say it is one of the best knives I have owned, definately the best small clip knife. Easy to open and close, the lock keeps it from closing accidentaly, and even though it's been exposed to a wide variety of conditions and chemicals it's always ready to go.
