BATTLEFIELD TESTED

An automatic knife needs to do many things well and a few things exceptionally – deploy consistently fast, be constructed to withstand daily abuse, and feel intuitively comfortable in hand. When Gerber set out to design the Propel, the process was peppered with critical feedback from military and law enforcement personnel – this wasn’t meant to be just another automatic knife.

The Propel was tasked with answering the needs of some of the most demanding, abusive, and unpredictable environments the world has to offer – it had to answer the questions that weren’t yet asked. Because lives depended on it working – every time. One might think that sounds like a tall order, and one would be right. Yet, it is fulfilled with durable materials, smart design, and an unrelenting focus on the end user. In the end, it provides the unshakable confidence that can only come from carrying a knife you truly believe in.

I have owned this knife for 2-3 years. I like the grip/feel of the knife. Not easy to lose your grip on this knife. The blade size is as big as I would want for a pocket clip carry which is the way I carry on the job. I purchased the auto . open feature, like others, because I want to be able to deploy with needing to employ both hands and I have found assisted opening knives inconsistent in reliably deploying with the thumb stud approach. The serrated tanto blade has been ideal for my uses. I have had no problems with the pocket clip and have only made adjustments to it one time. The only problem I have had is with the blade opening all the way to lock in place. This has been rare. Cleaning and lubricating fix the problem every time. Other than addressing this issue 3-4 times during my ownership it has performed admirably.

Overall I like the knife. Its my daily carry knife for work and play.
The overall size is about perfect for me. It carries well in my pocket, withdraws easily when needed but its not going to fall out. The G-10 grips are very good. They provide a very "gripy" surface so you're not likely to loose your grip in the rain, mud, etc..
The pocket clip screws do come loose with daily carry and need to be tightened every week or so.
The presentation of the blade seems a bit slow. I'd like it snap out a bit quicker. It has not failed to deploy when activated but did in the first month not deploy strong enough to lock in the open position several times. It did it often enough that I was concerned and was looking at other knife options. It eventually became nearly 100% locking upon activation after some oiling and use.
If I had my choice, I'd very much like to see this knife in a drop point blade configuration. The tanto style is fine but my personal preference would be for a drop point. Perhaps similar to the Gerber Alliance model's styling.
Overall I've been pleased with this knife. But it has a few things that could be improved upon.

My father in law bought this for me before a deployment and It is without question the best auto I've ever had. Sturdy, dependable and the push bottom open is super easy to use. Well done

Blade was sharp upon arrival, everything worked flawlessly. Smooth and quick opening, locking mechanism functions fine as well. I've had no need to move the pocket clip and it has stayed tightly in place. A great knife as far as I'm concerned with no complaints!

Agree with the S Sgt, belt clip screws work their way out every few days regardless of the use case.

Aside from that, the knife is amazing.

The whole Propel line of knives are really cool. Now make one without a tanto and no serrations.

Ill make this review easy for everyone this knife is complete crap! These were purchased for my unit so i've dealt with many of them all the same problems and I have only had it for about 2-3 weeks.

The belt clip screws fall out very quick or have to be tightened every couple of days with a torx driver that I cant even find, so I use a flathead.

The safety switch on some work fine but others require ALOT of pressure to get it on/off.

The blade after just this short time has already began to stick. it started with just coming out somewhat slower than new then I started cleaning it to help it out which didn't do much. and now it chooses when it wants to come out unless I hit it on something or pull it open. but the good news is after a couple of times hitting it, it seems to work normal, for a bit.

But the good news and the reason I gave it one star instead of zero (besides the fact that a zero isn't an option) is that the blade is sharp and seems to be of good quality and I do like the grip of the knife.
