The compact version of the best-in-class tactical folding knife, this knife has the soul of the larger version in a portable size. The 7cr17MoV steel blade, glass-filled nylon handle, and patented rotolock combine to make an unsurpassable tool.
Colonel Rex Applegate, with over 40 years of knife design experience, is legendary in the world of hand-to-hand combat. The Applegate-Fairbairn family of knives rank as lasting symbols of the Colonel’s dedication, expertise, and sense of purpose, earning international status as best-of-class amongst folding tactical knives. Based on the classic Applegate-Fairbairn fixed knife, the Mini Covert is a mini-pocket clip version of the Gerber original Applegate-Fairbairn Covert Folder.
THE TACTICAL POCKETKNIFE
A totally relevant knife for today’s deployed military, the Mini Covert folder’s powerful design is highly adaptive for storage due to its being a folding knife, while the blade, when extended, provides the same strength as a fixed blade knife. Equipped with the features of the Covert and the Combat Folder but compressed into a closed length of under 4 inches and a weight of 2.2 ounces, this knife can be carried in a near-endless manner of ways: popped into a pocket, suspended from a belt loop, or tucked away in a boot. The Mini Covert performs its duties with ease and a lightweight agility that no other close-quarter combat knife can mimic.
PERFECTLY BALANCED PERFORMANCE
With a nearly 3-inch partially serrated drop point blade made of high carbon stainless steel, the Mini Covert folder is an elegant close-quarter conflict knife. Dual thumb studs allow for easy one-hand opening of the blade, its face etched with the Applegate and Fairbairn signatures. Featuring a grooved glass-filled nylon handle and a stainless pocket clip, the Applegate-Fairbairn Mini Covert folding knife looks and feels as impressive and beautifully balanced as its name suggests.
I figured it was about time I reviewed this knife. I've owned 4 mini covert knives. The first one I had was the all black model and I loved everything about it except how loose the pocket clip was. Due to the clip being so loose it ended up breaking. That knife lasted about 8 months as an EDC. I decided to pick up another mini covert, it was the silver model. On this knife the knife's locking system over traveled causing the knife to be stuck open. I returned the knife for my next mini covert, this knife when in the open position would not be straight and in line with the handle when in the open position. So I then went back to the store and took a hard look at the mini coverts I could see inside the sealed packaging there was one other that the locking system was over traveling. I did find one that was near perfect and I say near perfect because it was essentially dull out of the packaging. (Not a deal breaker) I just found it odd due to my very first mini covert being razor sharp. All in all this is very disappointing all the work I had to go through to get a quality knife. I do love this knife and wish Gerber would take care of this issue.
I love this knife. I love the opening mechanism and the lock mechanism. I just wish the clip could be moved for tip up carry. That's why it only gets 4 stars. change that and you have a 6 star knife.
Love the knife, I also own the full size version of this knife and use it for my EDC, dispute having many other more than capable knives for the job from different brands, I choose my applegate over them all.
As for the mini version love the knife, I only wish the blade was like the original being a spear point style blade as opposed to the drop point. Other than that I love the knife, still getting used to it for the EDC! Enjoy!!!
Bought this knife in my mid teens...I'm 38 now and it still looks like it does when I bought it and it is a daily carry for me. The BEST knife I ever bought! Mine has "Taiwan" stamped on the right side of the blade...not sure if they still come like that but mine has been great!!!
I have faithfully carried this knife from flight ling to the firing line. This knife has been in my pocket or on my body armor for the last 11 years. Fast, sturdy and reliable. Holds an edge well. My only complaint..........nothing. This knife with my Gerber Recoil multi tool have gotten me out of more jams than I care to count. Thanks for making great products.
When i first got the mini i thought what a cheap little knife but after a few days i started to love it. Its small sleek and a brutaly tough knife. It holds its edge well. The lock scares me a little its on the thin side and isnt directly under the blade but all together its a great knife
Actually, I stumbled upon this knife about 5 years ago, working for a shipping company. It was crunched at the nose of a trailer I was cleaning out amongst the garbage and under a skid. I picked it up and thought it might have been a rusty piece, but I gave it a shine only to find Rex Applegate tattooed on the blade. No clip, but this knife went through some s***! I have only sharpened it twice after cutting numerous things from shrink wrap to plastic bands. It holds an edge, after everything I put it through, and the user before. I'm sure he/she misses this thing, but I still keep it in good use. Thank you Gerber and the person who lost it, for such a great all-around knife.
I bought this knife during a tour to Iraq several years ago and it has held up miraculously. I am very pleased with the quality and durability of this particular knife. I have always been a fan of Gerber but after my experience with this knife I always look at them for other products. I have had this same knife for 6 years and I use it to cut everything from fish to rope to wire. It holds an edge extremely well. I have sharpened it about a dozen times over the past several years and the edge olds for a good 8 to 10 months with repeated use. I am very pleased with this high quality knife.
I bought this as something small, light-weight, and inexpensive that I could carry in my pocket and use for day-to-day needs. What I didn't expect was a cheaply made product, especially from a company such as Gerber, whose products I've been buying and u
