This knife really is amazing, this is one that I plan to keep for a lifetime, I'm impressed with every feature of this knife, however there are some downsides to it. Firstly a small item of note is that the one handed opening feature takes a few weeks to break in, but it's a production knife, so that never bothered me. Secondly, be aware that locking back the knife with force will indeed cause the blade to knock against the liner in the handle. This actually caused the edge to chip in multiple places along the blade. I really like S30V steel, that's why I bought the fine edge version however, I could imagine the serrated version of this knive is a pain in the rear to sharpen. As of this review I've had this knife since December 2015 and have not thought about replacing it! I've had lower quality Gerber knives, SOG's, Smith and Wesson knives, and others and I have to say the quality and construction of this knife will keep its place in my collection. I did however purchase a Gerber Propel AO in 420HC steel, I want to see how it's quality stands up to this one and I feel it's a more practical knife for day to day tasks. I will update and review the Propel AO in a few months!

This has been my favorite carry knife for 4 years straight. Its blade is wearing out, I've sharpened it so many times. My back yard is literally 1,020,000 acres, I've raised wolves (under license) for 18 years, I raise sled dogs, and there is no end for knifework around here. I've butchered deer, plumbed, cut wire, whittled, carved, shaped, and drilled with this beast of a knife. Between the S30V blade (probably my all-time favorite working alloy), aluminum body, that excellent one-handed push-button lock, and the perfectly-designed pocket clip - all at an unbeatable price - this knife is an award-winner, in my book (s). In fact, it has earned kudos in my upcoming book: THE ULTIMATE SHTF SURVIVAL GUIDE, Skyhorse Publishing. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=len+mcdougall&tag=mh0b-20&index=stripbooks&hvadid=3482872273&hvqmt=p&hvbmt=bp&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_80sdmcx6uj_p

I recently got this knife... Love it! I love the non-serrated blade (Would have gotten the Tanto with the assisted opening if it only had a straight edge)... The S30V steel holds a good edge (I have sharpened it once, to razor sharp) through common use and a lot of wood cutting/carving/whittling. The lock also keeps your finger out of the blade when closing -especially with gloves (very useful)
My one desire - make an assisted opening like the milspec tantos!
My two complaints:
*The Pommel is flat inside the knife, so the cutting edge hits it when it is completely closed/snapped shut. I will probably take a Dremel to it and make it a V on the inside instead of a _ .
*The weak spring clip for belt carry - this needs to be a stout clip for a heavy knife - I have caught it on a couple things, and it is now loose to wear - I am going to re-bend it, and then if that doesn't work, contact Gerber for a better replacement.

Beautiful knife made in the U.S.A.! Mine is difficult to deploy with one hand which prevents me from carrying it on a regular basis. I need a knife that will be there for me when I need it, but I got a great deal on this from Sportsman's Warehouse. Even after loosening the screw a little, it was still too tight. Glass breaker on butt makes a good reverse/dagger grip uncomfortable, but it'll work in a pinch. Excellent steel that holds an edge very well.

Great knife, great blade. Easy to keep sharp. stands up to heavy abuse, that in mind this is a large knife. Love the non-serrated bled, I wish you offered more of your knives in straight edge.

I have the 06 Auto in both tanto and drop point and yes they are heavy but they are also awesome reliable knifes that show superior quality and materials. As stated above they have superior edge retention and have handled everything I have thrown at them. I however am not a fan of serrated blades or auto knifes for most situations so I am very happy to see this product and will be purchasing it shortly. I would like to have a G-10 handle option with a coated black blade but I guess you can't have it all. or can I Gerber?

You are not able to purchase this knife with proper credentials. The knife is not for sale to the public. This knife is marketed for law enforcement. "The key is to put the correct tool in the right hands" JOHNNY B

I don't understand why Gerber requires credentials for this knife when anyone can buy it at other web sites for probably less than what Gerber would sell it for.

It looks like a great knife and I plan on buying one online whether I have credentials or not.

Recieved this knife yesterday, seems like it will be a good all around knife, opening is a little stiff to start out with. Will update this post after a while of using and abusing this knife.

Why does this knife require credentials? It's a manual knife. I have been researching the 06 manual combat folder and as far as I can see the only difference between the one that I am allowed to purchase and the one that I want to purchase is that this one has a plain edge (the primary reason I want to purchase this knife). So my question again, why is the public not allowed to purchase this knife?
