Field tested with American troops, this 10 inch survival knife was engineered in partnership with our country's bravest. This MOLLE compatible knife is rugged and versatile, with a partially serrated blade that can also serve as pommel or a spear. The sheath includes a built-in blade sharpener.
Every Gerber product has a story to tell. The story of the LMF II is one of resilience and resourcefulness, of being on the wrong side of sticky situation and living to tell the tale. The purpose driven design of this knife stems from the experience of former military man Jeff Freeman, combining thoughtful design features and life-saving application.
Originally designed to free an aircrew from a downed aircraft, the LMF II is tough enough to cut through the fuselage of an aircraft and smart enough to ensure you are safe while doing so. The knife has a purposeful break between the tang and the butt cap, providing insulated protection against stray wires and absorbing any shock from hammering.
This 10” survival knife was built to adapt to any scenario thrown at it – ensuring comfort, versatility, and safety when you need it most.
Fixed Blade Knife
One-Hand Opening Multi-Tool
I have had a lot of "combat" knives over the last 16 years. Most usually get tossed aside for my Kabar. This has earned a spot next to it on my gear. After all, you don't always need a bayonet. My Kabar doesn't have a window breaker. My Gerber doesn't mount to my rifle. I just wish I would have had this a few deployments ago!
I have had this knife for about three years now and have put it through some heavy abuse. Ans so far it has not failed or showed signs of structural damage. I have use this in every type of weather during military operations and backpacking trips. As an Infantryman I love the ability to carry this knife in many different ways via the MOLLE straps, belt loops, and even the holes in the sheath that allows me to lash it with 550 cord to anything. It has many layers of retention if needed, but the layers can be peeled back when not needed. I have been told that this knife would not take the punishment that bush-craft puts on a knife, so far those folks are wrong. It has a great size/weight, sharp 90deg. spine, and a thick blade. They just want to justify spending 2-3 times as much on their knife. This knife is not sexy, it is a rugged tool/weapon. My only complaint is the serrated edge, I have never needed this, and prefer a straight edge. However, I do not regret my purchase and still choose this knife over others. I am a fan of Gerber, they have never failed me with ANY of the the many products that I own. Even my "Walmart" wood handled hunting knife has been my favorite over other vastly more expensive knifes. One of the the best American manufactures around, keep it up Gerber.
As a Washington state backpacker, hiker, spearfishing freediver, crabber, fisher, climber, mountain biker, and overall outdoorsman, this is hands down the greatest knife I've ever purchased. You can never go wrong with a Gerber, but a a fixed-blade Gerber is probably the greatest made product is the USA. Perfectly balanced, heavy, and rugged, this knife is strong enough to hack tree limbs and dig holes if needed. The sheath is made well and looks great hooked on your belt. Best purchase I've made in a long time. Can't go wrong with this piece.
I have several knives from competing major manufacturers and I don't recall being so excited about a new knife like I was with this one. I love it. Solid, sharp & reliable, as far as I can tell. I wish it had an auxiliary pouch on the sheath. I'll find something to hold flint, etc... Thank you Gerber.
I absolutley love this knife! This is a utility knife. It's not a bushcraft knife! People are complaining that it's not offered with a fine edge but that wasn't the intention for this knife. It's not a bushcraft knife. My favorite part is the grip. I've began to carry it with me when I'm in or around the water. I love the grip when I have wet hands! I love that it's serrated for starting hard cuts, it still has enough fine edge to finish the finer task. This is the best fix blade that I own hands down.
I picked this knife up at a survival store last Friday and tested it while I was up at Thomas mountain!! I love it..very strong with good weight to it and the sheath is awesome and the knife locks into it tight!!!
Hands down great knife. I've used mine for backpacking, camping, hunting and everything in between. Ergonomic design and SHARP! The sheath is comfortable, and appealing to the eye... The only reason I'm giving four stars relates to the MOLLE attachment. the sheath has two MOLLE straps, BUT they must be buttoned. The kydex sheath holds the knife so firmly you cannot deploy the knife without popping off the MOLLE button straps. other than that, great knife.
This knife was handed down by a fellow Marine who wore this in Iraq and I wore it in Afgan. It has never done me wrong and I still use it two years later. Hands down one of the most durable knife I've ever owned!
the knife is amazing I can t say anything but the paint work could be better because it comes off very easy
Best survival knife ever. durable, well designed and weighted. Mine has taken more than it's share of abuse including camping, backpacking, big game hunting, and search and rescue missions. Carries well on LBE, well enough on a belt. Just a no BS knife that does it's job. Also had a customer service issue that was handled quickly and much to my satisfaction. I'm sold on Gerber
Why do u people want a straight edge? With the half serrated it doesn't really matter! At least you will serrations just in case you need them! I am planning on buying this knife soon. Keep up the good work Gerber.
This knife is about the best all-round utility knife you could ask for. While it's a little shorter than the KaBar fighter, it's length gives it better balance and handling for doing everything from fine cutting to serious hacking and shaping. Now, if you want to split 3"-4" dia firewood, okay, but for anything larger this is not the tool. Nor should it be. Unlike the other folks here. I find the serrations pretty handy when there's heavy line to cut. Also, as the advertising says, it will cut through mild steel of a vehicle or chopper body. It does a fine job fabricating litters and shelter poles, and it has helped with some extractions. Heck, I've even used it to peel saplings to make cordage. If you think you need a utility knife, buy it, try it. If you don't like it, well your uses don't call for a utility knife anyway.
Great made knife and Gerber always makes quality products! I just think they should offer a fine edge blade, I think they should give the choice of serrated or fine edge on all of their knives and i do not understand why they do not?
Your lmf truly is a wonderful knife for what it does, but seeing how that is tactical and military, people are wanting it for outdoors. I know you have heard this before, but please listen to us, many people don't like the serrations because they have no use for them. A way to please everyone would be to simply put a fine edge on this knife. This will make everyone happy and will help all of us outdoorsy fans. PLEASE LISTEN TO US, I am a military and outdoors fan, and I speak for the bushcrafters.
This knife is absolutely perfect except for the serrations on it. Which is the only reason why I haven't purchased it yet. I checked it out at my local gun store and fell in love with it but the one flaw was my only deal breaker. I will continue to wait for this specific knife to be released with a plain edge. I'm crossing my fingers for a tanto blade. I will re-rate with five stars (which it deserves) once a plain edge is made for it.
I literally love a few of your knife designs. But only reason why i dont have any gerber knife yet is because of useless and hard to to maintain serrations. And i will not going to buy any of this knives until its made in plain edge versions aswel (as most of other knife enthusiasts )!
I love my LMF!!. It goes with me whenver I'm out in the field. Great weight, great balange, lots of hand features and useful for just about anything. I've had my knife for years now and its still a solid as the day I bought it. Gerber gear is built to last!!
I purchased this knife about a year ago and have been nothing but impressed with it. I do a lot of rugged outdoor activities that need a serious knife. Hunting, PRIMITIVE camping and off-roading mean i need a knife that can handle anything. The thick, heavy blade and serrations are perfect for heavy-duty cutting and the amazingly adaptable sheath speaks for itself. I've been in a few jams where I couldn't of been happier I had this tool. Awesome product!
I like the feeling of absolute security in carrying it with the solid retention of the sheath and the snap-straps for the handle. With both these in place it's one of the few knives you'd trust to have strapped to your calf in a canoe, go overboard, swim to shore and still find it exactly where you left it.
This is one of the best knifes you could possibly own! It may be heavy but it is so effective its not even funny! I tied on a fire rod and a survival whistle to my knife. If I had a dozen choices this is the knife I would get lost with! and it is SO comfy
FIVE STARS, NO QUESTION. WELL THOUGHT OUT, PRECISION MANUFACTURING. I LOVE THE SHEATH AS MUCH AS THE KNIFE! SO VERSATILE. I WILL CARRY THIS ROBUST KNIFE PREDOMINANTLY STRAPPED TO MY CALF. MANY MORE CARRY OPTIONS ACCORDING TO MISSION, ETC.. POMMEL IS TRU
