The smallest version of Bear's favorite knife, this tool is light in weight not in function. A full tang blade, an ergonomic handle, a well-placed bolster, and a textured thumb rise provide a secure grip and ease of use. The paracord lanyard or sheath keep it nearby.
The reality is you’re unlikely to be wrestling an alligator or slicing open a camel carcass anytime soon—things Bear Grylls has taken on—but we designed the Bear Grylls Ultra Compact Fixed Blade for just such occasions, as well as to meet more utilitarian demands of the backcountry. Combining Gerber’s decades of experience crafting tools and Bear’s survival knowledge, this is a smaller size of Bear’s favorite fixed blade knife, with an added paracord lanyard. The Ultra Compact Fixed Blade Knife is lightweight and easy to handle, yet able to perform like a pro when called into action in the woods.
DESIGNED TO LAST
At 3.25 inches with full tang construction, the fine edge blade is plenty long, and stout enough to slice into a carcass, should the need arise. Even better, it’s small enough to strap to a boot or hang around your neck for easy access. The handle’s ergonomic shape and rubber-molded grip feel natural and fit securely in your hand. The knife’s balanced feel is matched by a well-placed bolster and textured thumb rise on the spine, adding grip security when your task requires pulling and pushing actions.
SLIM AND VERSATILE
Like the knife it holds, the Ultra Compact’s sheath is slim and multi-functional. The molded nylon sheath locks the knife securely into place for safekeeping on and off trail. It’s designed for easy access in a range of carry executions; strap it to your belt, wear it around your neck or secure it to your pack. The clip is reversible, and accommodates either tip-up or tip-down placement, and is removable for a minimalist approach, or to customize the attachment with webbing or cord.
I love the design, the color scheme, the feel of it is very sturdy and sure handed. I like that it's super corrosion resistant, considering that I bought it to carry with me on the beach. After water exposure just rub it in the sand to dry the water off then wipe it down with a towel. Perfect! The sheath is very secure. The knife will not drop out no matter which way you attach it. It needs a firm pull to draw it. Only 4 stars because it wasn't razor out of the box and a little tricky to sharpen. But, not too tricky after some practice.
I liked the knife but the way it clips into the holster does not feel reassuring. Doesn't take much force for it to come out.
I got this knive as a Christmas gift and I love it came sharp but sharpened it a little bit more, I love the case as well and this works great for every day needs
i bought 2 of these knives and find them very useful. In fact Gerber/ Bear Grylls should make a new version of this knife which would be a scaled down version of the Ultimate survival Knife. I have experimented by attaching to one of my own knives an N-dur compass and an Acme whistle to the lanyard., making it a very useful small survival that can be worn round the neck.
was`nt so sharp as i expected, but still i love it ! Its stealthy ! it packs a punch. and yeah, used wisely ,it WILL take down a F*****g Gator! My respect to mr. Grylls and Gerber ! Size dosent matter :D Matters what you can do with it...
The features on it are perfect; the full tang design, sheath, with holes and clip, small design, and durability. This always is on my side and won't leave it.
always gets the job done and holds a great edge. This is a perfect knife, nothing to change about it. I love the clip, holes, materials, steel is pretty good (for a smaller blade like this one), and feels great in my hand.
I have been looking for a small, full tang fixed blade knife for a while. I normally wear basketball shorts, and they never have pockets so I can't carry a pocket knife. However, this knife has a clip so I can clip it to my waist. I think this is the best knife I have ever owned besides the BG Ultimate Pro. It is the most durable and user friendly EDC knife I have found.
I love knifes and two brands I always go with and Gerber is One of them. I love this knife, its easy to carry, even though I'd like
I got this on amazon for $24 shipped. It is a perfect size for every day carry, even around town. I don't even notice it there. The sheath however is too lose. It will drop with very little effort if worn tip up, thus making the neck lanyard useless. Even holding it by he handle, you can easily whip the sheath off.
I picked this one up at Cabelas online a couple of moths ago. This knife was razor sharp out of the box. It is a tiny knife wich can be a good thing, but i would have liked to see a little more of a point on the end. i don't use the clip on the sheathe so i don't know if it is as bad as the ones on the BG compact knife were reported to be. I keep this one in my car as a back up so it doesn't see a whole lot of action but the thing seems down right sturdy and hasn't dulled through cutting things like plastic. Overall it is a good knife.
I got this knife for my wife who always uses my knife, but doesn't want to carry a knife. It is good to carry around your neck when you need to cut a rope or something small. The sheath holds the knife real well, even when you're ruffing it in the woods. It holds it's sharpness real well and seems pretty durable. Don't expect to cut down a tree with this thing. This makes a good second knife to have when you can't find your main knife. My wife likes it because it small and easy to carry. I changed the 550 cord to orange so she can find it easy in the woods and at night.
really like this knife. got it from cabelas a few weeks ago. for some reason they had it early. it is a good neck knife or back up. i find the grip a little short but it is a trade off for the small size. i'd like the grip to be a half inch longer in the handle. it is a cool full tang knife overall. the sheath is great but i tend to take the clip off and wear around my neck. with the clip on the sheath seems a little thick.
