With a super-lightweight frame lock design, this knife delivers surprising strength and functionality. The streamlined handle adds no bulk to the slim profile, making it the perfect mate for your pocket. Opening and closing are a cinch with dual thumbstuds.
We built these knives for the non-conformist in you. The Ripstop I & Ripstop II are super-lightweight frame lock concepts that deliver bold strength and high functionality. The weight of the all stainless steel construction knife is made lighter by the intriguing handle and blade design. There's no bulk in the thin, streamlined handle. Dual thumb studs make opening the blade a snap. Closing it is a simple one-handed step.
You can easily stow this knife in your pocket with the strong pocket clip
I've had this knife for almost 9 years, and it hasn't failed me yet. Works great, holds an edge when sharpened properly. In terms of quality construction, the only thing that has gone wrong with it is that the "Gerber" printed on the disc at the blade stud has worn off, which is to be expected after that much use.
This is a great knife, I've never had a problem with the clip or any other problem that some other people claim to have with this knife. I use this knife every day, while fishing, camping, and hiking. I've dropped this knife on rocks, in water, In the snow, in dirt and it's still just as good as the day I bought it. Great knife for a great price!
I have many knifes from gerber, and this by far is one of my favorites. This is a great everyday knife. I never leave the house with out this clip to my side.
Gerber is a high quality brand of gear, with an affordable price. Which doesn't surprise me that they construct a well-made, reliable, lightweight pocket knife that's this impressive.
Great knife. Not the most comfortable handle, but the slim design does more than make up for it. Overall, it's a great knife by a great company.
Bought the Ripstop II and Tempo Light combination. The blade would not lock in place because the blade stop was misalgined. Talked to Gerber and they emailed me a pre-paid FEDEX lable for return. 3 weeks later I get the flashlight in a pouch with a notice that says this combination is no longer available and my knife would be sent seperately from the factory. I'm still waiting and we're moving into week #5 soon.
This is a very good knife. It works well and stays sharp. The only reason i gave it only 4 stars in the thumb and thumb stud dont work. The just are in the wrong place so u cant open it 1 handed. other than that is a very good knife. the clip is very stiff and it WONT fall out of your pocket. it is very light and compact and you almost dont even notice in your pocket. I would buy it again.
Have had this knife for about 6 years, it has seen a lot of use and a lot of abuse. Have never had a single problem with it; blade still sharpens easily, action is smooth, and I have never once had to tighten a screw.
It a good knife. Bought it about 6 yr.s ago when I was a lot smaller. Good knife for som body with small hand. Took it everywhere fishing, hunting, even swimming and it never failed me.
Broke after just a few uses. Opened the blade to core an apple and the safety broke off. Fortunately I wasn't camping and have 2 back up knives. Even more fortunately I didn't get injured. This product is dangerously unsafe. I am now timid of any other Gerber product. Trying to return/get a refund for this product has shed light as to the attitude and quality of Gerber as their business hours & Customer Service is just as broken as the knife itself.
Awesome blade, well performing knife for all condotions. But mone is not stainless mine has rust spots forming in random spots on the blade, several on the hip clip, all over the colapsable sheeth, and some on the exteriou blade hindge. Still a nice knife though...
I've had this knife for awhile now, I carry it daily, and use it daily. I once lost it in the snow and found it 2 weeks later, I've had it multiple times underwater during camping trips, and it looks like I just bought it. The only thing id like to see is a Ripstop II fine bladed version, that ways its easier to sharpen.
i have had both styles of this knife and have used them for seven years. if i lose them i go out and get a new one the same day because i use it every day
Big 5 is selling the RipStop II for $19.99. Framelock design, serrated blade. Gerber makes quality knives (In the Pacific NW, so it's a home town product for me) .
This sort of design -- integral frame lock, cut away handle -- has been around for a while, and proven. All stainless construction. I wish Gerber would specify blade length and steel composition.
Looks like a handy pocket knife at a handy price.
i used this knife all the time. i lost it up in the mountains sledding, I liked it so much i had to buy another one
Had the knife for less then a year and got a crack in the part that locks the blade into place so now it swings open and close as it feels. sending it in to gerber for the warranty but up until it broke it was a great product and i have many other gerbers that are great so i think it was just a freak deal that happened
I bought both the Ripstop I & II and I must say I am very happy with both. Light weight, sharp, easy to use. Overall great knife for any situation.
I have carried this knife with me almost every day and use it 3-5 times/day for about three years. It is easy to open and securely locks in the open position. It fits my big hands well. I have this knife in three sizes.
It works well as my money clip and it really holds its edge.
