I first saw the small assisted (41967) a great solid top grade piece , then I bought the large assisted , once again terrific solid built and lock up ,... So the large automatic seemed a no brainer ... Well a little disappointed , good action but about an 1/8 " wiggle in open position , I thought the Made in USA would have at least "Equaled" the quality and design of the assisted ... It's a flaw I don't have in many automatics I've paid less for ... Of course I'll keep and use this blade but I'm still a little little disappointed ...

I decided to give this a try its a little smaller then what I like for the most part it is a great knife we had to qualify this past weekend which means laying in dirt and that completely filled the knife with sand making it not lock open everytime I'm sure with some playing I can fix it but its held a pretty good edge I just like something bigger for prying and other non knife uses

I met up with one of my Former Mates' GM1 (SO1) Seal Dan Mick. He let me use his Covert Auto for training for a week. And i have to say, i love the weight, handling, and Sleeker feel than my 06 Auto Tanto. This is defiantly the Next Two Knifes i'm buying once it's back in Stock!!!

This sweet piece of steel comes with the highest credentials. Fairbairn/Applegate's endorsement is the final test of quality. I also have a Fairbairn dagger, and I used it in the Nam.

I would have to say best knife i have ever owned. I ended up giving to a private security guy at the air port so TSA wouldn't get it. My dumb ass forgot to put it in my checked bag. Well at least the security guard got a small bonus that night. I have to go buy another one soon.

I have used this blade daily since 2011. Everything from puncturing/cutting to prying when I had no other option. I really thought that by now I would have ruined the mechanism or that the clearance would have been affected from using it for prying; but it operates as smooth now as the day I bought it. Even has several hammer strikes on the frame from using it to hammer in my fist. I am impressed and when I misplaced it I thought the world had ended... nope, still got it and plan to use it for the next 20 years.

This knife is hands down the best knife out of my entire collection of over 200 blades. its quick opening, sharp as a razor, and a easy every day carry. on top of it all it has a safety, as silly as it sounds the best knife to have is a knife where no accidents can happen and i feel that this knife is one that i will use and cherish forever, thank you Gerber

It's a good knife for the reasons provided. Very sharp. Reliable for the most part. Somewhat wiggly in the open position which makes me worried to cut some tougher things. Works for edc

Choosing a good knife can get overwheling for the average person. Without going into all the details of the types of steel and handle materials, I’ll give you a few opinions on this knife that I have personally used.

Gerber has made a very high quality blade at an affordable price. I use this knife as my everyday carry knife and I recommend that you do also. There are more options available today than ever before from expensive customs to cheap overseas knives. I have several blades and most are well over the $100 mark. Their expense makes it a harder decision to carry and risk either losing or damaging the blade. With the Gerber Covert Auto, you’re getting a high quality product for under $150.00. The price of the Gerber Covert Auto is low enough that most people won’t be afraid to carry it and more importantly use/abuse it.

The Gerber Covert Auto also excels at most anything from camp tasks to emergency defensive use.

I expected more precise machining since this is the top-of-the-line Gerber, made in USA.
The 2 torx screws for the pocket clip protrude out from the body, making sharp angles that will wear down material or flesh that it contacts.
The gimping on both sides near the fire button is again more sharp angles that are a bother to feel in the open position and especially in the closed. A sharp right angle on the inner walls on the gimping.
These right angles need to be smoothed into a more rounded pattern. Heavy use will wear out the fingers on the grip and gimping that are supposed to help control the knife.
On the plus side, it is a tight build and not as sloppy as the SW1600. This Gerber has good feedback from the safety and automatic action. And a solid feel to it.
I do like the deep pocket clip. And again, in the pocket, resting my thumb on the handle, I can feel the sharp edges of the gimping.
For the price and being Gerber's flagship product, as well as "made in the USA", I expected better attention to details.
I am a bit hesitant to buy the Gerber 06 at this time, because of the flaws in this Gerber.
I do like the Applegate Covert, so it is, at best, a 4 star product to me.

#1 feature, MADE IN THE USA.

I have used this knife in a variety of situations, both on and off duty. The serrated edge works well to cut off plastic restraints as well as cutting through cord, rope and seat belts.

The overall package is solid and well balanced no matter what grip I use on the knife.

Although I am armed everywhere I go, I keep this knife with me as a weapon of last resort.

This knife rugged enough for whatever you are likely to encounter but also delicate enough for up close detailed work.

This knife should last a lifetime and still be worthy to pass on to another worthy LEO.

This is possibly the best blade I've ever carried on or off duty. It is light weight, very concealable and opens quickly. Also, it was razor sharp right out of the box. Made in the U.S.A. means a lot to me and the men I work with and Gerber delivered well on this one.

This knife is incredible. It opens faster than any automatic I have ever seen. You actually have to have a good grip on the handle or the kinetic energy of the blade will snatch the knife right out of your hand. the blade is RAZOR sharp. The point, straight blade and serration, makes the knife useful for any situation you need it for. The only thing I was a little surprised of was it is quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but makes it pretty easy to be in your pocket it's very slender, light and doesn't take up your entire pocket. Hope this review is helpful.

I've had this knife for a couple of years now, still opens extremely fast even after heavy daily use. Sometimes it opens so fast it wants to fly out of my hand. Holds point without having to sharpen and form. Retains edge very well. I love it, a true extension of my body.

As a former Paratrooper that has carried numerous types and brands of auto knives in garrison, the field, and on deployments I like this one the best! It's very fast opening, strong, and very sharp! Great locking mechanism and easy to sharpen up when needed. This is definately worth the buy!

Very nice Auto, except the one sent me has the outer edge protruding several mil. from the handle when closed and blade is very off center when viewed in the closed position.
I just sent it back to Gerber for repair, a fix, or replacement.
Lets see if Ger
