This knife has an excellent handle shape and size, it fills the hand and therefore gives great purchase and feels very secure during use, that is THE main thing I look for in a knife because if it doesn't feel secure and comfortable then accidents are more likely to happen.
The assist is a little bit too strong for my liking, but it's not bad. For me the secondary secure locking system is meaningless, but the main lock is good.
The Skyridge gets full marks for aesthetics both in and out of the pocket. The pocket clip hides the knife very well.

Good knife except for the assist. It's very hard to open with one hand. I have bruised my thumbs trying to open this knife. It's bad enough that I took the spring assist out and I can open it one handed now and close one handed no problem. Just have to make sure I lock it closed now cause it's a point up carry. The spring assist was so bad that alone get this knife a 2 stare rating

Great knife but I bent the clip and when removing the screws one is galled and will not come out. Can't fix the clip.

This is an all around amazingly perfect knife. Even down to the stealth pocket clip, so you don't look like a knife packing hoodlum with some bulky Chinese blade lol. This knife is my everyday carry and will be for a long time to come.

I unboxed this knife to find the screws on the clip were lose so I tried to tighten them only for one of the screws to shear of leaving half the screw in the hole.... the pressure it takes to open one handed is a little hard. other then that it seems to be a good knife.... but not for $45.

Not to downtalk the "Enthusiast", but maybe you had a faulty operator of your Gerber knife, because I have two of this particular model. (I would only have one, but when I thought I somehow lost the original, I went and purchased a second one as soon as I found out that I was without it.)
I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the best knife that I have owned. It is my first Gerber though. I have always bought Kershaw, but the housing always come apart, which after fooling around, trying to rig it back together just to get through the rest of my day, only to get frustrated, and trash it.
I've had my original Gerber for over two years now. I maintain it myself, which really only consist of sharpening. The assisted opening is perfectly structured, that the only advise that I can give to the Enthusiast is that your trying to hard. Just because it's stiff to the touch doesn't mean that you need to put excessive force on it. Push gently, you'll be surprised! If you still can't get the hang of it, just find another opererator, because it's not for you.
I use my knife on a daily basis, with my work as being an electrician, I need a durable knife to be able to strip wire while terminating panels.
I hope this helps anyone that's looking to buy a durable pocket knife.

Got this knife not long ago, for the price it is a great knife. The action, while not flawless is very aggressive and energetic and the plunge lock and safety both work like charms. The blade like all Gerbers is ludicrously sharp out of the box. And the clip fits my pocket very well. One of my main complaints is the grip. When dry it is fine though very plasticky feeling, but could provide more grip. Perhaps if the ridges were deeper and sharper with a slightly wider gap this would be improved. In the wet these grips work suprisingly well considering their lackluster grip in the dry. The cutouts seem to give the water a place to go as opposed to forming a film between your hand and the grip. The knife has a good weight to it, light enough to be forgotten about in your pocket, but heavy enough to not be mistaken for a toy.

Overall I definitely recommend this knife as a superb all purpose daily carry for the price. If youre looking for a tactical or dedicated self defense knife however look elsewhere as the lack of grip could present an issue in a self defense situation.

An absolute embarrassment.

The assist mechanism is a complete farce. I have opened this knife dozens of times, and had only a handful of successful deployments. The thumbstuds are painful to actuate, feeling like pressing your thumb against the edge of a dime. The force required to open the blade is excessive, thus guaranteeing maximum pain. The blade springs out, until the halfway mark, where it loses steam, and halts. The secondary lock is tight to the point of madness, sometimes requiring two hands to disengage it.

The handle is cheap, and it shows. The grip material is plasticky and slick, even with the mild texture and the "rain" vents. The pocket clip is the perfect height to catch on door frames and scratch paint. The blue liners look handsome, though they are not skeletonized at all, which might have scraped a few ounces off the bulky weight.

To be fair, the edge is fine. It came sharp out of blister pack, but I refuse to give points for a tool having the defining feature of that tool out of the package (would you think favorably of a hacksaw for having a blade when you bought it?). The grind is neat, except at the heel, where it both misses the end of the blade, and is asymmetrical. The blade is centered when closed, and has less than the expected blade play when open. The bead blast finish is tolerable, and is at least evenly done.

Overall, this knife gives the impression of pain. Physical in the thumbs when you open and the fingers when the blade closes on them. Emotional when it fails to deploy again. Mental when you realize that despite what you try to stop them, all your non-knife buddies are going to buy one.

Gerber is unstoppable, after all.

Very solid knife for the price. Shaving sharp out of the box and seems to be holding the edge well. Assisted opener is quick and precise. the safety catch to prevent opening in the pocket is a thoughtful decision. Overall very pleased and happy with the purchse.
