Built for Special Ops personnel, this knife has the most technically advanced handle on a combat knife. Resistant to heat, UV light, and chemicals, it never quits. The 154CM double-edged blade is heat treated for edge retention, flexibility, and strength.
The Silver Trident is more than a symbol of Americas top Special Ops personnel. Its living proof that guys who handle our nations nastier chores will go through whatever kind of hell is necessary, so long as they have the best gear.
The Silver Trident has the most technically advanced handle ever engineered on a combat knife. Its resistant to heat, UV light and chemicals. The brainchild of William Harsey, Jr. and Chief Watson—a founding member of Navy Seal Team 2—the handle is a co-mold of two versions of the material called Hytrel. Inside, there's a rock-hard version for strength. Outside, there's the soft, textured version for extreme grip control. Use the stainless steel butt cap as a hammer.
The double-edged clip point blade is 154C stainless steel, heat-treated to achieve a hardness rating of HRC 59-61. That means you get excellent edge retention, strength and flexibility. The non-reflective black blade limits glare and corrosion.
This knife is a combat tool, and it is superb for in the use it was designed for. Is it the best survival blade? No, but any knife in a survival situation is better than none let alone a world class blade like this one. Its sharp, strong, durable and will hold up its end if you hold up yours. Keep it sharp, don't use it for a damn pry bar, and it'll be there to hell and back. Also mine came with a Blackhawk combat master sheath, don't know what ones you's guys are talking about, but then again I've had mine over 10 years so it must be a different one now.
You need a better sheath... does not do justice to the knife., Sheath made in China, how do the two Seal Team Members feel bout the sheath that Gerber approved for sale with the Silver Trident?
I have done a lot of research on this the silver tridant I've heard good and bad, some say it's not a good survival tool, just depends on your situation I came to find the mind is your best weapon. So with that said what ever situation you are in any knife should get you out or save your life. Looking forward to getting one thanks everyone for your input.
The Silver Trident is the perfect knife for self defense tactical use. If it came with out the top part of the blade being sharp it would be the perfect survival or hunting knife. Of course you can grind down are dull that part of the blade. If it came with a sheath like Gerber's LMF II sheath it would have the perfect sheath to. These are facts. I would have given it a five star if it was perfected to such specs.
Superb knife in every respect.
Became instant friends with my Ruger GP 100 .357
awesome knife. sheath sucks. come on Gerber offer a better sheath.
Great knife actually. Pretty pricey so I was expecting a better sheath but it'll do. This is my knife ofr killing zombies!!!
This knife has it all. That's the one thing I hate about it. I have no reason to buy another survival knife.
knife is great, sheath broke within 2 weeks of bushwacking. now how do i get a new one, probably have to make one haha
The blade design and handle, balance, feel etc. are superb. This is my combat blade, however, the sheath design makes it difficult to deploy rapidly. I see this as an advantage if you want to make sure it doesn't come out unexpectedly and cause major damage. (Think- rolling for cover, unexpected hand to hand fight, diving, parachuteing, or just weapon retention). Deployment takes practice, and does make some noise.
This knife is awesome
And I love it I have used to chop through
Bones and trees and 2 by 4
For such a masterful knife it's strange to try & pair it with the accompanying sheath....If you own the knife then you know what I'm talking about. I've had to alter it myself to make it work for any/all situations needed. You will without a doubt obsess over the knife but remake the sheath to your style of use and you will have a knife for life. Thanks Gerber-
Awesome knive - not so awesome sheath.
To Team Gerber: It is no secret that everyone is overwhelmed with the top quality of the knife, but unfortunately, NOT the sheath. It is VERY difficult to deploy the knife in a tactical emergency. Does Team Gerber have any suggestions to facilitate the deployment without jeopardizing the retention security factor? Thank you! Maximus (One of your biggest fans!)
Unlike most here, I own this, it's worth its price. This knife is on par with any HIGH END knife anywhere else, and doesn't cost $300 plus. The sheath is great, the blade is surprisingly light for its size. Lighter then my LMF II, imo. Yeah, s30v or s35vn would be awesome, but 154CM is amazing too.
If my life depended on this knife, it will deliver over and over again.
I own Reeve-Harsey Green Beret Knives, a Randall Model 14 Attack, A Duustar Arad Model 1 K-Bars, Pilot Knives, other Gerbers and I find the Silver Trident to be adequate. It is a beautiful tool and has many uses. Many folks have commented on the long serration on the bottom and that the serrations are different. Application is the reason. Top is for wood and metal, bottom is for flesh and bone.Punch a sternum and try to pull it out. I am not trying to be dramatic, just pointing out the obvious. These knives are available from $140 well up into the 200's so, shop around. If the model number says KNF 103 it has the Gerber marking only. Knife collectors may want to know this. I served from 1973 until 1998. I own a lot of fancy knives but, The K-Bar is still the best combat tool I ever carried.
Just bought this knife and am really impressed with it.
I thought one of the best design points of this knife was the hammer Pommel?
Just purchased this incredible knife. It is really unbelievable! I love it. It is so well thought out and the ergonomics are sound. It is well balanced so it feels great in the hand. Great job Gerber and those who helped to engineer a masterpiece of true Americana.
i am not geting this knife
Great Knife I want Two of them !!!
I love Gerber knives and used them on deployment but if you can keep the saw back but give the main edge just a plain edge it would be perfect!
The silver trident is a great looking and feeling knife shouldn't expect anything less from gerber or from the operators it's designed for my only problem with this weapon is its sheath design it's a flimsy and pooorly made in my opinion for me and me like me who depend on these types of weapons for life or death I think they could have done better way better like the lhr tight secure fit I understand a lot went into the knife but what good is the knife with out a secure way of fastening it make an up grade please
The Gerber Silver Trident is my number 1 choice for hand to hand combat and firearm retention. The strength of the 154C provide the ability for cutting anything needed, and it's sleek handle makes it easy to grab from a sheath. 10/10 for me!
I carry this knife with me all the time while on a sail boat. Just recently my 420 death-rolled (windward capsized) and the wire which held the mast pinned me down. Without thinking, I pulled out my Gerber Silver Trident and cut the incredibly strong wire with ease.
Thanks a lot Gerber!
My dad give it to me as a birthday present, I'm a huge fan of gerber and a addict to outdoors sports, excellent knive but definetelly designed for combar situations, AWESOME
this knife is quality from the box. got it a month ago still not bored of it. it is good for survival cutting things and protection. sheath is really nice. I LOVE THE GRIP!!!! the double serration is awesome too. very quality blade. Quality for the price i mean $270 is not that bad for the knife. THIS THING IS STRONG FLEXIBLE MANLY AND MEAN LOVE IT. thank you Gerber!!!! GREAT KNIFE
Very nice knife. But the serration at the bottom is a world too long. SOG does it much better. A serration must not be more than one third of the blade. The serration at the Silver Trident is nearly a half of the blade. The serration at the buttom should ends at the point where the upper serration beginns. You know, where the thick part of the knife back is over!
Just received mine last week. Pictures do not do the knife justice. You have to put one in your hands to really apreciate quality, feel and appearance. Love the double serrations, a very useful tool to make the knife multi-fuctinal. JUST AWESOME! Gerber you had the right idea here. Might have to carry the Silver Trident and the Mark II. Thank you again.
I'm to poor to buy this knife but it seems awesome!
I‘m a GERBER fan from China.
I purchased the Silver Trident a few days ago and I had also got MARK II and Applegate-Fairbairn combat folder before.
Silver Trident is the best knife I have ever had with fantastic feeling.
Furthermore it can become perfect if the details can be improved such as making the edge more Symmetric.
Thanks a lot and I will support GERBER forever.
