5 love to hunt-fish -camp vearl williams - FEB 19, 2013

I've had this tool since 2002.Love it.Would not go to the woods without it.Still functions like new.I periodicly clean and oil.Great one handed opening to remove hook from bass.I need a new sheath but no biggie.Would buy another one if something happened to this one.

4 Agronomist Luis B - JAN 4, 2013

Blade broken, tool replaced completely including new sheath. Only drawback is that the new model comes with a shorter blade that is more difficult to extract. But I appreciate the service and the quality of the tool.

2 Decent Tool Has Problems Zach - DEC 26, 2012

This is a decent multi-tool. Does not have as many tools are some of the bigger ones but this one does have some useful tools(some, not many but maybe one or two)
Keeping rust from spreading the the tool though is an ongoing battle. The knife on it is quite useless and keeping the serrations sharp are a pain. The tool would benefit from have a serrated and a fine blade. The scissors are also worthless due to their size.
Over all, not a great tool for the money. Quality of this Gerber is good but do yourself a favor, keep using Gerber...just not this one.

5 Former CAP Cadet Blaine W Flowers - DEC 22, 2012

I have had one of these for more than a decade. I picked it up around 2001 when I was starting up in the Civil Air Patrol. I carried it every where then, always on my belt. It is the single most useful tool in my kit today. For a long time, my tool box consisted only of this, a hammer and a pair of phillips screwdrivers I used for PC repair. Leatherman's were all the rage when I went multitool shopping for the first time. A friend recommended Gerber and I have never regretted the purchase. When it finally breaks some day, I will replace it with another Gerber multitool.

5 Grunt/Mechanic/Handiman Paul Prevost - NOV 27, 2012

I wore out 2 Bull-nose before I switched to the Compact. I have worn out 2 of these (one during my deployment to Iraq in 2006) and my 3rd one has a broken scissor spring now but I LOVE THIS THING. I call them my metal fingers and I keep mine on my belt everyday. It looks a little funny when I dress up for special occasions but I have never regretted having it with me. Never leave home without it. I need a new one, come on Santa!

5 Technician Thomas C. - OCT 31, 2012

This is by far one of the best tools I've ever owned. Had it since 2004 when I was in the US Army, where I used it almost daily; until recently one of the plier ends broke off when I used it on my car.

Sent it into Gerber, since it has a lifetime warranty. Gerber refurbished it like new and sent it back all within 2 weeks. Top notch service!

5 Factory Worker Brad S - OCT 23, 2012

Owned for 8yrs now and couldn't be happier with it.
The only thing that ever happened is the scissors got a little loose with time and use.
I would note for anyone interested it is a light weight tool i work in a light industrial environment and it suits me fine if you need something beefy you might want to look at a larger version.

5 1st One Dan K - OCT 12, 2012

This was my multi-tool I used while Scouting in Wisconsin. Didn't keep me from getting my Eagle at all.

5 Great knife and knife company James h - OCT 10, 2012

I had the multi sport for 8 years when the main blade broke. I always loved it and it got heavy use. I contacted gerber who replaced the blade and other parts for free. Also giving me the new updated case.

5 lost without it Jim - OCT 6, 2012

I had these for years before I met my wife 12 years ago, so probably 15 years or more now. I dont know what to do without them.
Around the house, in the garage, in the woods, even kept me from getting stranded by a corroded battery cable once.
Even my wife uses them all the time when we are working around the house.
Absolutely wonderful !!

5 General Warehouse. DIY Mıke - SEP 28, 2012

Amazıng Product had mıne for over 12 years! Need a new sheath and the blade needs sharpenıng but ı use ıt everyday!

3 Ok knife James h - AUG 28, 2012

I had the knife for about 6 years of just around the house usage. I was disappointed when the main blade snapped at the base white trimming a Christmas tree. Multiplier 400 m. Guess I'll buy a SOG

5 Firefighter Travis - AUG 27, 2012

Best tool I ever had it got me out of a tough spot more than once. The one hand opening made it easy to use even when my hands were full. My wife lost it on me while we were fishing about three weeks ago. She said she would get me a new one for Christmas…but I don’t know if I can wait that long. I find myself reaching for it on my hip only it’s not there.

2 Your Title John - AUG 26, 2012

This was bought as a replacement as my original one was lost after many years. The main blade on the unit I received does not match the picture. Because of its shorter length and contour, the blade is difficult to open. The pliers do not open with a one hand operation. The nylon sheath is oversize. I am very disappointed in how this current product has changed from my original one.

4 Lucky Find Sally M - AUG 23, 2012

I love the sharpness of the knife, I love the one handed opening. I love the versatility of this tool. I'm sure there are better quality tools out there but for the price you could do a LOT worse. I would recommend to someone wanting a DIY/camping multitool.

5 Your Title Randy - JUL 28, 2012

Lasted for 13 years, priceless 1-handed open for pliers, quality sheath/pouch also lasted 13 years. Locking blade/tools make for safe use.

5 Medica assistant Ernesto - JUN 28, 2012

Excellent tool, had iteh "tecnician" black version for about 7 years, I love it, durable and compact.

5 Risner Oh - JUN 23, 2012

5 Project Manager Cory Carr - MAY 18, 2012

i have had the Multi-plier 400 for 10 years. I use it almost daily and try not to leave home without it.

5 Roadie Andy Kres - MAY 9, 2012

I've had this tool for many years. Working as a roadie and on stage it has been a lifesaver many many times. If I'd ever buy a new one it would be because I want it in black!

5 Musician JT - MAY 5, 2012

I have had this tool for over 10 years. It has served me thru multiple jobs and in tons of situations. Now it sees use in maintaining multiple guitars and looks as good as it did the day I bought it. Excellent tool!

5 IT specialist Scott - APR 18, 2012

As an IT in the military, having the right gear for the right job is crucial to mission success. The CS-400 has been the best and most crucial tool in my set for a long time. I would recommend it to anyone who is constantly on the go.

5 Maintenance tech 3 Jason - APR 6, 2012

Have had this model for about 3 years. I've been very happy with its usefulness and durability.

5 Tinker Tom Staal - MAR 28, 2012

I had one for over 10 years and just lost it. I've had some other brands but this one was the best. I'm going to get another one.

5 Best bit of kit I've ever had!!! Peej - FEB 13, 2012

Had this tool bought for me when I joined the British army 10 years ago and still have it now... I have had 3 sheaths though...dwarves me well in Afghan, Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia and Serria Leon plus hundreds of exercises around the world!!!

5 fisherman, hiker, handyman Bruce Grilli - FEB 7, 2012

Needed a compact needle-nose to walk the banks with. This is perfect due to one hand opening with a fish in other hand, All tools are solid, knife is super sharp, scissors are top notch, love it. Everything locks so it's safe. I just recommend this tool to friends looking for a gift for their son.

5 Indestructible Rick Hale - JAN 31, 2012

I've had this knife for probably 20 years. The excellent nylon sheath is wearing out, but the tool itself hardly looks or feels used at all. It's a perfect compromise between weight, toughness, and versatility. All the tools are very well designed. Lock-up is rock solid, even after twenty years.

5 Your Title Adrien Hawthorne - JAN 14, 2012

I got this multi-tool when I was 10 and in the Boy Scouts. Now I'm 22 and the knife and scissors are still as sharp as they were when I first bought it. I love this thing and it really is built for life.

5 brilliant knife commando - JAN 1, 2012

this is the best multi-tool i have ever laid hands on it has such a good design and the locks on it are very reliable I would recromend this knife to anyone- thanks gerber!!

5 Cyclists & Dad Des Sequoyah - DEC 24, 2011

Been using it for over 10 years now, best one I've ever used. Always with me and used daily. Feel naked without it. Love the one handed opening and the grip with the tools on the inside is more comfortable than others. Worth it's weight in gold.

2 disgruntled 400 user jeremy - DEC 20, 2011

Like Paul and Jeremiah I have broken the blade and want it repaired. I have got the knife apart so how do I get hold of the replacement part without sending the knife on a journey of a life time. If you cannot make arrangement s to have them repaired in the UK you shouldn't sell them here.I resent having to buy a whole new multi tool. who really cares about the life time warranty. What is the liability of sending a blade it came over in the first place? The wire cutter could be made of sterner stuff. You obviously have a lot of blades that meet an early demise. I have had a few of these kind of knives and still use the one without the blade!!! With the continuous work it gets, the sheath has worn out . Is that in the warranty as well? Do the stars mean for service or for quality I'm rating it for ease of repair.

4 outdoor user Jeremiah P - DEC 17, 2011

Like Paul said, I also snapped the knife blade off and was here poking around to find out about the lifetime warranty.

5 Airfield Maintenance Paul Cannefax - OCT 29, 2011

A fantastic Multi-Plier unfortunately I broke the blade. Is it true there is a life time warranty on it? My friend told me about this warranty, so I thought I'd find out firs hand.
Does it have a Life time warranty?

5 Outdoorsman JD McNoldy - OCT 5, 2011

So when i was 10 years old i saved up what would of been alot of money and bought this knife. Im now 16 and this is still my favorite knife, and is always coming in handy. This tool goes everywhere with me, hiking, fishing, kayaking, or work and its never

5 Photographer L. Sabo - SEP 15, 2011

Bought mine 11 years ago before traveling to Africa. Didn't know it was top choice tool in Africa. Initiation was removing a wood parquet floor glued to concrete no other tool could get the glue off but the blade in my Gerber (a blend of 400 & 600). Blade

5 Professional Driver G. Pip - AUG 31, 2011

My father gave me this about 8-9 years ago. I use this quite often, and sometimes even for medium sized jobs. I had to get a new sheath for it a year or so go... but the tool itself is still working hard. Very tough, very durable very great piece of equip

5 Custodial worker Kenneth C.Geathers - AUG 28, 2011

I love this tool because it says what does ,and looks, feels.i only wish and suggest that the wire cutters will be a bit stronger like the Leatherman.Overall! i am a big fan of both tool brands, including sog, victorinox.I hope they'll be some changes with t
