Bought this knife, really looking forward to using it and within a day i bumped into the bench in my garage and the belt clip snapped off and the screw heads went flying. Needless to say i was dissapointed about this. however, the knife is sturdy no play in the blade and holds an edge well. Still dissapointed about the belt clip though, but maybe its just an isolated incident
Great knife. Like John said, it was hard to open with just your thumb. But after messing with it for a week or two, I was able to open it with just my pinky. Use it everyday, still sharp, no complaints.
A little heavy, sharp blade, smooth opening, cheaper on amazon though.
Bought this nice today for 80 dollars...Nice nice, pros, titanium handle, nice sleek look, strong knife and blade. cons, very hard to open with just your thumb, blade has small amount of play when fully engaged, (bought it brand new) other then that its a nice all around knife
Got this knife about two weeks ago for a trade out on several 06 Fast replacement. Love this knife. The assisted opening 2.0 is very smooth and reliable. The polished 7Cr17Mov looks awesome and is sharp as hell and so far its still sharp. The titanium handle feels awesome and no slipping so far, wet or dry. Highly recommend this knife.
It says the handle is titanium not the blade just an FYI.
Honestly, I bought this knife because I thought it looked pretty sweet and I wanted a Tanto profiled blade. I've owned other Gerbers in the past and thought I'd give them another shot. I would have prefered to have a little less effort required to open the blade. It is definitely on the heavy side. The assisted opening action is very smooth though. I was however, a little disappointed by the slop in the lockup of the thumb plunge system. I could see this becoming an issue. Also, the pocket clip is way to stiff... Almost a safety hazard if you needed to pull your knife out in a pinch. All in all I'd give it an A for thought and innovation, but ultimately a C+ due to poor execution. Go with a better blade material, swap for a liner lock or redesign your thumb plunge. Add a flipper for opening in addition to the thumb studs and please take the tension on the pocket clip down a couple five notches. I love ya Gerber, but you gotta step your game up....
The knife was very difficult to open. It appears that the "Assisted Opening 2.0" is rubbing on the inside making the initial push with the thumb extremely difficult. I thought I had just gotten a bad knife, so I exchanged it, I had the same problems with both. Overall it is a very good looking knife, but I would rather have a knife that works instead of one that looks pretty.
Bought this knife with great anticipation... however the lockup wasn't quite up to par... a little play back and forth... none side to side... working through the warranty process now... kinda bummed that the warranty process takes 3-5 weeks... I'm hoping the deficiency was an isolated case... Looking forward to using it and reviewing it online...
it is very light for its size, comes with an amazing edge and has held up very well for the month I've had it. the pocket clip is very sturdy but i would like to see an unserrated drop-point blade on it and the blade is not made of titanium, just to let whoever is curious know.
This is a light weight titanium handle with a special highly sharp serrated Gerber Alloy 7cr17mov. Perfection! I sleep with it. LOL
one of the most amazing knives i have owned
Great knife, just sings in your hand.
Blade takes a good edge, will see how it keeps an edge.
Titanium doesn't hold a good edge. You don't want a blade made out of titanium. Looks like a nice knife. I like the partially serrated tanto blade.
"Too Bad" it's not atleast AUS 8 steel, and a plain edge. Because i would buy 2 for that price! (B.O.B BAG/E.D.C)
when will u have more i want to buy one
Great knife, and it settles into your hand just right. I almost bought it had the blade been titanium as well. Sir hit the nail on the head.
Love it, just wish all your products were US made! S30v steel would be nice also.
Really nice quality, would totally love it if it wasn't too pricey
Why is the blade not also titanium? I feel that would be a much better addition.
I handled one a bit and was very impressed with the fit/finish. The knife is extremely smooth and comfortable in the hand. The lockup is excellent, I really like the button lock over the liner lock. However, I hate the blade shape and the blade steel. give us maybe a plain edge sheepsfoot blade made from 14C28N sandvik or even AUS8 and I will buy it right then and there.
one of the best knives i have ever had nice steel good blade
gerber is the bomb is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a very well made knife. I really like the titanium body on this one. The assisted opening feature works very good on mine. It feels very solid in your hand. The blade is very nice and seems like it will hold up with no problem.
i so want this i need a new knife for camping i need it to be sharp, waterproof, strong and reliebel and this knife has all of those things
good gob gerber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw this on the front page and clicked on it straight away, such a great looking blade! Then I saw the steel...
Serious if this knife had an AUS 8 blade I'd buy it instantly, the tanto blade, button lock, assisted opening and real nice titanium finish set it apart from the Benchmade emissary and even Bradley Alias' because it really does look like a knife make to be used and abused
AUS8, VG10, 154cm, S30v, D2... it'd be great to see such an awesome design in a couple of really nice steel offerings
Also at the price this knife retails, the steel just isn't on par with the competition, and on paper if proposed, for example, a buck vantage pro in S30v and this, without seeing the pictures, just price and specs, I'm pretty sure that the buck would claim 99% of the buyers
Still a really nice blade, just a shame about the cheap steel...
I was sooo wanting this knife at first sight, then i read "Steel Type: 7Cr17Mov".
Say what?
Bump up the the steel type a couple of notches and it's a must have.
Better steel needed, especially since you are pairing it with a titanium handle! An aus8 or better steel for around $50-60 bucks and they will fly off the shelves
This design has so much potential it's a shame to see it going to production like this.
A ball-bearing pivot, titanium handles, and the button lock are all excellent. But why leave it there?
If you produced this knife with a better steel option (S30Vor VG10 or at least 154CM), in a useful blade shape without a tanto point or serrations, made it a proper automatic instead of assisted, and made the construction screws Torx10, I would be willing to spend up to $250 on this.
There is a market for this, and you would make a killing proving that Gerber can still make an outstanding knife. Wish you would.
Its not a knockoff it's an improvement
7Cr17MoV(GB) - Chinese equivalent of the AISI 440A stainless steel. Strictly speaking, this is not the standard name, 7Cr17 is, there is no 7Cr17MoV neither in GB/T 20878 nor in GT/T 1220 standard specifications. While the standard lists up to 0.75% Molybdenum in the composition, Vanadium is not mentioned at all. So, that V at the end of the name doesn't really mean much. There are some sources listing it with 0.04% Vanadium, but that's very little to seriously affect steel performance.

Exactly what I was looking for. I have a SOG Flash II and love it but this looks even better. Got to have the serrated blade and tanto tip! I wouldn't have purchased it with a different blade. Love the titanium handle and the fact it is not painted, nothing to scratch off. Can't wait for it to arrive. Would have liked more pictures and a look at the clip but I like my other Gerbers so I trust this one will be my new favorite.
It's a Vision rip off. by the way is an AMAZING knife. lasted me ten years before someone stole it.
Not even close.
needs an upgraded steel... or at least 8cr13mov . No serration also please. Id pay $50 for 8cr13mov or about $90 for 154cm...
Is it a sog twitch 2 knockoff?
